POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

There has been a series of constant issues with this model and each issue has been brought to a certified Honda dealership and was supposedly "fixed" engine code P0300 (random/multiple cylinder misfire),P2651 B rocker arm Actuator system, P0087 Fuel Rail/system pressure, P0304,P0303 cylinder 3 and 4 misfire, engine temperature always above normal. The motor vehicle due to these issues randomly would lose power to the point where stepping on the gas doesn't not accelerate the car, forcing me to stop in the middle of the highway having other vehicles stop suddenly and swerve around me with children in the vehicle. Another occasion going up a hill the car beings to stutter losing power resulting to the car shutting off, forcing me engage These reoccurring issues have also randomly caused the vehicle to not start. Multiple warning signs are lit across the dashboard. These occurrence are random with no warning sign The vehicle has been brought to the same dealership numerous times claiming each issue was fixed but within a few weeks more issues came. The last visit i was told as a "solution" i need to buy a new engine out of pocket, unacceptable for a Honda engine with 64000 miles on it. This oil dilution issue need a proper answer before someone is serious injured.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

Potential Consequences:

On April 7 at 1230p I was driving about 45 mph on Lindbergh Blvd in Creve Coeur. As I was moving into a construction area there was a sign to lower speed to 35. I lowered my speed with my brakes and at the same time traveled over a metal plate on the road. After I let up on the brakes there was an immediate very jarring breakage done without my foot on brake as I went over the plating. The abrupt braking was so severe that all of the belongs on both front passenger and back seats all fell to the floor. There is no doubt in my mind that if there was a car behind me they would ran right into me. After going over the plating the braking system was released and my regular driving ability resumed. I would be afraid to try to reproduce this problem. Since owning the car I have had about 5 less severe problems with this automatic braking system on this same road with the system sensing something that was not there (I thought it was a policeman's radar) with a very very short and less severe automatic braking. I did not not notice any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem .

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

I down loaded my update through the radio. It said complete. I went into the house and the next morning I started it and a bunch of warning lights were on and have stayed on. I can not use some of the buttons on the drivers door, I can not use my key fob unless it is touching the start stop button, I can not open the trunk, the gas cap will not open, and most of all I have lost some power to the interior fuse box. This car is only 5 years old almost to the date and it has had multiple recalls already. I want the BCM reprogrammed and fixed so all this will go away.

Defect Description:

LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST

Potential Consequences:

I down loaded my update through the radio. It said complete. I went into the house and the next morning I started it and a bunch of warning lights were on and have stayed on. I can not use some of the buttons on the drivers door, I can not use my key fob unless it is touching the start stop button, I can not open the trunk, the gas cap will not open, and most of all I have lost some power to the interior fuse box. This car is only 5 years old almost to the date and it has had multiple recalls already. I want the BCM reprogrammed and fixed so all this will go away.

Corrective Action:

AIR BAGS

Potential Consequences:

I have taken my Honda because of engine misfiring. They said there is coolant seeping in the pistons and we red a new engine gasket and the cost is $4,000. All the warning lights are turning on and alerting the driver but when I took it in and paid $380 they can’t figure out why these are turning on. The fuel injectors and belt are another item that has been alerted to being an issue. These are problems my 20 year old car has not encountered and this is a 2018. The airbags warning has been an issue at least once every few months.

VISIBILITY:REARVIEW MIRRORS/DEVICES:EXTERIOR

Potential Consequences:

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, there were abnormal rattling sounds coming from the rear of the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who informed the contact that the failure was a known manufacturer defect; however, the dealer informed the contact that they could not repair the vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated while driving 45-60 MPH, the driver's side-view mirror detached from the mirror housing. The contact panicked as he had lost visibility of incoming traffic. Additionally, the forward collision avoidance sensors ceased to function as needed. The contact was unable to veer to the side of the road, and he pushed back the mirror into position while driving. The contact stated that upon reaching his destination, he attempted to secure the side-view mirror in the housing but was unable to. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who advised the contact to push the side-view mirror back into place whenever the failure occurred. The dealer also informed the contact he would be charged for the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure occurred 5-7 times within two years. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

Door locks don’t work with fob intermittently. Often times, failure door can only be locked/unlocked manually by toggled physical mechanism, or by use of key, never buttons or fob. Passenger using said door would have difficulty opening door in the event of emergency, or at least delayed in doing so trying to find the toggle. Issue has not be replicated by either dealer or other professional. Issue has been ongoing for 6 months, but recently one of the door has failed completely so I will be going back to dealer tomorrow. There are no warning indicators to suggest a certain issue.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

The infotainment unit on the 2018 Honda Accord does not properly sync up with a music player (such as any given phone) over Bluetooth. This is manifested by the incorrect display of the time the music track that has been played. Honda has been unwilling to properly address the issue via a recall or a software update. Their typical response (to just about every issue) is to take it to the dealer, who is not able to properly troubleshoot and address issues which were caused by the Honda's failures in software (and hardware) development. Ad video of the issue is available (Honda dealer and Honda pretty much refuse to take the videos as an evidence of the issue).
