Defect Description:

STRUCTURE:BODY

Potential Consequences:

I've filed the specific issues in other complaints, but also wanted to input this for a record. After taking the card to the dealer, the dealer DID NOT address any of the following: Right door speaker rattle Engine squeak (when shutting off) Hood vibration Did not troubleshoot the smell coming from the ventilation system. Did not apply the fix (if there was one) for the infotainment unit restarting abruptly. Did not look at as to why the display shows 100mph speed limit when there is no such thing in the the state of Colorado (that I know of and certainly not where I was driving when this happened). Did not look at why the aux display has issues Did not look at Bluetooth connectivity issues. Did not look at problems with radar and the CMBS system. Of course, the usual response is "we drove it for an hour (if that) and did not see anything."

ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

When the engine is shut down, there is a squeak (have not been able to pinpoint the source). However, prior history on the vehicle considered, wanted to make a record. The vehicle has always had a burning smell to it and, at one point, a dealer's mechanic did replace the head gasket, claiming that was the source of the burning smell. However, the burning smell still persists and I've been wondering if something more serious is going on (as one mechanic did say, there is a possibility of the turbo burning oil due to some defect). Hence, the squeak is suspicious due to that.

VISIBILITY:DEFROSTER/DEFOGGER/HVAC SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

Defrost on the 2018 Honda Accord seems to have an intentionally compromised design whereby the vent underneath the windshield was made too small and does not deliver sufficient airflow in order to maintain sufficient visibility in colder/wetter conditions. This, in turn, compromises the safety as the visibility is severely compromised.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Potential Consequences:

This is a complaint for a unique occurrence of this problem on this date. In some instances, it seems that the ventilation system is potentially pulling noxious fumes in from the engine bay and in others, there seems to be an issue with moisture retention when AC is run. The vehicle seems to force foul smelling air in to the cab. Honda has failed to properly troubleshoot the issue (i.e. retain the vehicle for more than a few hours and try to understand if there is an issue with the ventilation system or something else).

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Potential Consequences:

When driving and removing foot from the acceleration pedal, allowing my car to slow without hitting my brake, I have noticed a loud humming/vibration around the 40 mph speed. It is very dangerous because it distracts my driving. I have tried powering off radio and ac/heater, rolling windows down and opening sunroof. Nothing seems to stop the noise.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL

Potential Consequences:

I was using the cruise control feature while driving and it gave multiple errors. It happens each time I use the cruise control feature and assisted driving feature. The errors it gives are: 1. Road Departure Mitigation System Problem. See Your Dealer. 2.Adaptive Cruise Control System Problem. See Your Dealer. 3. Collision Mitigation Braking System Problem. See Your Dealer. I have also been driving and it breaks by itself and there is nothing in from of the vehicle. It was an orange flat plate on the road for construction. I have taken the vehicle to the dealer but they say it’s all normal.

Defect Description:

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING

Potential Consequences:

While I was driving down Highway 101 near Mountain View near the Shoreline off-ramp, the vehicle's CBMS activated at highway speed even though there was no car in front of me. The weather was cloudy but visibility was good. The vehicle displayed "BRAKE" together with a warning sound, and the car suddenly decelerated. Luckily there was no car behind me, since the sudden braking could have easily caused an accident. I can confirm that this is repeatable -- on three occasions, the CBMS engaged at the exact same place where there was some surface imperfection in the road (due to recent asphalt patching). I had to step on the accelerator immediately to ensure the car behind me didn't rear end my car. I've read reports about the Honda Accord 2018 having this potential defect and wanted to make sure this report is filed, especially because it is repeatable. For now I've had to disable the vehicle CBMS to prevent an accident from occurring.
