ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

I have a 2018 Honda Accord Sport 2.0t 6MT. The car is up to date on recalls (BCM and backup camera update were completed). The car had been sitting in the garage for the last day and a half. I took a 7 mile round trip in light rain to Lowe’s. On the way back, I was on a service road going about 50mph, downshifted into 3rd gear and hit the gas. The tires slipped a little and the car went into limp mode. The car immediately started decelerating and the check engine light started flashing. The throttle barely accepted any input. I drove it home slowly in limp mode. I had to let several cars pass me. At home I turned the car off and back on and the car was perfectly normal. Limp mode was gone. Nobody's safety was severely at risk during this incident but if this happens on the highway it could be deadly. There are many people on Accord forums that seem to have experienced the same issue. I could not find a Honda TSB for the 6MT Accord. The car is available for inspection upon request.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL

Potential Consequences:

While driving in stop and go traffic on the highway with the adaptive cruse control system enabled the system will suddenly stop working. A message appears on the dashboard information panel "Braking Mitigation System Error/Failure: Bring to Dealer". This has occurred twice in 2022, and once or twice in 2021. When the car is turned off, then restarted, the system appears to reset itself. I brought the car to the dealership, they ran a "Diagnostic" and told me they detected software errors and needed to do a "Flash" reset, and that it was not covered under warranty. I contacted the Honda Corporation and provided my service records, and details of the incident. They were lacking in enthusiasm to investigate the issue, as they were more interested in informing me that the vehicle was over the 36,000 mile warranty period. There was no collision, but that does mean there won't be in the if there is a software malfunction with the Braking Mitigation System. I feel the Honda Corporation is not taking this safety issue seriously.

Potential Consequences:

Hello, On 12/19/2022 when I started my 2018 Honda Accord EX 1.5L it started giving me all the warning lights at a time and suggested me see Honda dealer. I took it nearby Honda dealer and they diagnosed the issue and found that there is issue with fuel injector CODED PO301 CYLINDER 1 MISFIRE 1st - CLEARED CODES Upon rescanning - recorded multiple misfires on cylinder 2,swapped coils and plugs no change misfire did not follow. FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL

Potential Consequences:

Well I've had the car for about a year now and it has been good for the first few months, then I ran into a snag. All the orange warning lights for my safety features popped up and the vehicle was applying the brakes on its own. So I took it to the dealership and they told me it was a taillight, so I spent 500 bucks on one. Well after a month it's started to do it again this time worse, and it got so bad. I've had to pull over to the side of the road and restart the car because it kept braking while on the highway. Fast forward months down today and it's still doing it except much much worse. I tried to trade it in because I don't feel safe with vehicle anymore. But where I owe so much on it they won't let me get something else, so I'm stuck with it. I've made an appointment to see if they could check it out but at this point I just want it paid off and I want something else.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

2018 Honda Accord 1.5 with 56k miles: while driving on the freeway, all the warning lights came on and jerked. Pulled over for a safety measure and turned engine off and turned it back on. Error code did not clear. My first initial thought was a file injector issue. Took it to the shop, After diagnosis, they said it was a misfiring (I’m like ok) they replaced coil and spark plug. After 1-2 months, tissue had came back. I checked a error code and it was another misfire. After a thorough search, looks like Honda has been having issues with fuel injectors but is not acknowledging the problem. They keep getting a misfire code on cylinder 4, but after checking the coil and spark plugs they said nothing is wrong.
