Safety Issue:
Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Honda Accord, Accord Hybrid, Civic Sedan, Civic Hatchback, Pilot, and 2024 HR-V, Acura Integra and Acura Integra Type S vehicles. The driver's seat cushion frame may not have been tightened properly, which can result in an unsecured seat. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 207, "Seating Systems."

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2022-2024 Civic 4-door and Civic 5-door vehicles that received a replacement power steering rack as part of a service repair. The steering rack may have been incorrectly assembled, which can allow the tire to chafe against the lower suspension or tie rod end, possibly resulting in tire damage.

LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST
Potential Consequences:
Vehicle 1 (complaint vehicle) was traveling on interstate highway in moderate traffic in right lane while traveling around a slight curve traveling at 60 mph. Vehicle 2 traveling in left lane merged to right lane with approximately 2 car lanes of spacing in from of vehicle 1 (complaint vehicle). I lifted off accelerate in vehicle 1 (complaint vehicle) to slow down and Honda Sensing Collison Mitigation Braking System abruptly apply very hard braking resulting in vehicle 1(complaint vehicle) nosing driving and straightened the steering on the curve. The braking and steering straightening resulted in vehicle 1 (complaint vehicle) crossing the lane line into the left lane by approximately 2 feet before the vehicle could be recovered and a speed reduction by 15-20 MPH. No vehicles were in left lane next to vehicle 1 (complaint vehicle) at the time of incident or behind vehicle 1 (complaint vehicle) to have resulted in a collusion. If vehicles were either behind or in the lane at the time of the incident the Honda Sensing Collison Mitigation Braking System actions would have directly resulted in a collision from its intervention. Contacted Honda and reported incident and inquired how to disable the system permanently and was told the Honda representative that they would pass along the information to "engineering" and the system can only be disabled for each drive and would turn on each time the ignition cycled. I then inquired if anybody would be reaching out to correct the issue and was informed that nobody would reaching out to me about the issue. I expressed the safety issues and was informed other than notifying engineering nothing would be addressed for me.

We were driving to northern Minnesota on the freeway. There were no vehicles in front of mine in either lane. The automatic braking system engaged and the vehicle almost came to a stop on the freeway before it disengaged. Approximately 1 hour later it happened again. If there had been a vehicle behind us in either instance there would have been a serious problem. Today pulling into the garage the same thing happened as I was halfway to parking. I am going to disable the feature.

Potential Consequences:
While driving down the road at speeds of 30mph or more, the steering wheel feels like it is sticking. It makes it noticeably harder to turn the steering wheel at speeds to make minor adjustments to stay in the lane. I took it to Honda and we are currently waiting on a new steering rack to come in to try and fix the problem. When taking it to 2 different dealers, they were both able to confirm the issue. There were no warnings or lights on the dash when the problem first occurred.
Corrective Action:

The contact disengaged the cruise control feature. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was not able to be duplicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 650.

At about 3000 miles, and when it was cold, started to experience “sticky steering”. On the highway, at higher speeds, the car resists when making small movements away from straight ahead. I took it in for the separate steering rack recall; my car did not need work due to the recall. However, they will be replacing the steering rack because of the sticky issue. The part is backordered, with no ETA. They said it’s safe to drive, but it does make me nervous to go on the highway.

November 2023 - Present January 2024 - Current mileage 4900k Starting at roughly 3,000 - 4,000 miles, while going 55mph - 65mph and after driving for about half an hour / 30 minutes, the steering become sticky and no longer has a smooth operation or freely steering. The steering wheel slightly sticks to the left for a sec then releases creating a slight jerk motion to the opposite side. It has become quite dangerous to drive in any condition. So far the dealership has not found a way to duplicate the issue and can't seem to help. We have mentioned this issues to the dealership multiple times and dropped the car off with no luck of a fix. It has not been a great experience as we purchased new for my wife to commute to work and it's been nothing but a headache and dangerous for continue driving.

Steering wheel would get "stuck" in the center position requiring extra force to be able to turn. Sometimes causing the car to hear or unable to turn without applying extra force. After the steering became unstuck, it would function normally until it went back to the center position. Brought it to the dealership on 1/10/24, and they diagnosed it as a bad EPS (Electronic Power Steering) unit and informed me that the part is on back ordered and could be a month or so. This car was purchased on 9/30/23 with 5 miles on it, no previous owners I had it checked on 12/23/23 for the recall that was issued, but my car was not affected due to it not having the replacement EPS unit that was being recalled.

2024 Honda Civic Touring at about ~4650 miles when brought into the dealership on 1/10/24 Two days prior, experienced sticky steering while driving on Highways speeds betweens 40 mph and 70 mph. I was driving on the Interstate had car on cruise control set at 70mph it began to slow to 60mph because of a vehicle in front of me so I moved to the left lane to go around and the vehicle just speed up (G5 force) on its own very quickly and reached speeds up to 80mph and would have kept accelerating past 80mph had I not disengaged the cruise control instead of braking. The second issue we have found was the steering became uncontrollable. It feels like the steering wheel gets stuck and hard to control to stay in your lane. You are not relaxed to drive this vehicle. Your body tenses up just to control the steering. We took it to the dealer for the steering recall but I don't think this is the issue. It is something more serious. We refused to drive our vehicle until it is repaired. A loner vehicle was given to us as the parts for the recall will not be in until April 2024.
