Honda (american Honda Motor Co.)
Defect Description:
UNKNOWN OR OTHER
Potential Consequences:
My Honda Civic's software for Apple CarPlay does not have an available update by Honda Corporation to allow functionality to use CarPlay Focus Driving settings to prevent receiving audio phone calls and ringing via the infotainment system speakers while driving and using apps such as Waze for navigation and/or iHeart radio for music. My safety while driving and the safety of others while I am driving is put at risk because while I am driving and using an app for music and/or navigation, my Honda Civic's infotainment system speakers may ring when my Apple iPhone receives a phone call from anyone, and this distracts my driving and may be unsafe. My Apple iPhone 14 has CarPlay Focus Driving software to allow me to prevent incoming phone calls while driving and connected to car Bluetooth or CarPlay. However, I cannot use this Focus Driving feature with my Honda Civic because Honda Corporation has not updated my Civic's infotainment system software to interface with my Apple iPhone 14 Focus Driving feature. I met my Honda dealership's service department staff, and they confirmed that there is no recall for my Honda Civic. They confirmed and showed me on my Civic's backup camera screen settings for Driving Focus that "Incoming calls will not be silenced while using CarPlay." I will upload this image/picture from my backup camera screen as a file for this discussion. The need for Honda Corporation to update their car infotainment system software to allow safety while driving is not unique to my 2024 Honda Civic.

Start stop feature creates a pause when taking off, has cause me to be bumped in the rear twice. Feature come on automatically when starting the car .it should be off unless wanted , the switch does not always turn system off when pressing. This is an asinine way of designing a function that creates an unneeded hazard. It should be in off at start and option to use. Apparently someone did not look at the potential hazards this could cause. Please contact me at [XXX] to discuss [XXX] . An answer would be appreciated I'm guessing I'm not the only one that has experienced this issue, INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Defect Description:
STEERING
Potential Consequences:
Please help. I have purchased my 2024 Honda Civic last year in 2023. I’ve had my Honda Civic for a year now. I recently noticed my steering wheel “sticky” as some other 2022-2024 Honda Civic owners have reported and stated on all media’s after researching. This mainly occurs to me after the car has warmed up and or its at its normal temperatures and driving. The steering wheel can feel some “fight” even at 2 degree adjustment while driving. I feel unsafe to drive my car. I have read and discovered some have recalls for this matter of steering rack problems. Honda contacted me weeks after purchasing my Honda Civic and scheduled me to bring in my Honda to have it checked for the recall and apparently my Honda does not have a recall. I have called Honda today, 8/26/2024, and I explained what I am experiencing with my steering and they said due to my car being over 36k miles it’s no longer under warranty even though this problem seems to be more of a recall type and should not require to be under warranty. Perhaps this recall has not been called for yet or discovered and I am reaching out to get help. As I am concerned and I am worried about my safety the safety for others as I am driver and transport passengers on daily basis as part of my job. Please once again help with my case and please investigate. As part of researching I did discover a rough cost of the steering rack and it is expensive and it was just for the part not including labor. This is unsafe and unfair. I hope whoever reads my description can understand my situation and help me. I am willing to cooperate with any information needed for this investigation as I believe it to be a future recall especially since the car has not had any accidents nor damages whatsoever. Please help my case.

Defect Description:
LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING
Defect Description:
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL
Potential Consequences:
I was driving on an interstate highway in upstate NY, just past dusk, when my 2024 Honda Civic attempted to come to a rapid stop without my input. My car decelerated violently, dropped about 20 mph in speed, then immediately accelerated back to the speed set on my cruise control. I did have the Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assist engaged when this happened. Interestingly, there was not another car around me nor coming my way in the opposite lanes and the weather was 72 degrees and overcast. This event scared the hell out of me and I was lucky that no other vehicle was close behind in my lane at the time!
