FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will replace the RVC tailgate wire harness, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed November 8, 2024. Owners may contact Honda service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is YI7.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

Wireless Charger Doesn't Work with or without a case on my Samsung 22 Ultra (which works on every other of the 4 wireless chargers I have). So I just purchased the 23 RTL-E on 09/28/23. Upon taking possession of the vehicle, got in adjusted and began setting things up to my liking. I went to place my phone on the equipped charging mat and after some shifting and repositioning, the phone began to charge w/ the case on. That lasted all of about 4-10 seconds. After fiddling w/ it for a few more minutes, no luck. Finally, I decided to remove the case and same thing, it only charged 4-10 secs.Ive also tried my sons Iphone 14, both with and without the case, same thing over and over again. Dealership said there was no know issues w the wireless charging unit. However I have found numerous complaints of the same issue online.

2nd time to Honda of Covington for the passenger door will not manually unlock or open with inside door handle UNLESS you push the electric unlock button 1st. [XXX] , the service writer, said it was a safety feature and wrote it on my repair order and hasn’t had the service manager come out to the vehicle with me as requested as this is a safety problem, loose battery power and your passenger cannot get out. I showed [XXX] a memo I found on this site saying that Honda wants all reports of this problem sent to them, [XXX] won’t acknowledge the report. I am making myself a nuisance and now [XXX] said someone will call me Monday August 21st. I called Honda and they said, “we have no reports of this problem but will give you a case number”. That number is [XXX]. I don’t understand why no one cares? If we get in a wreck and loose battery power the passenger door will not open and one can only hope my wife is not injured to the point where she can’t crawl over the center console to exit on the driver’s side. Potential Consequences:

We purchased our new 2023 Ridgeline RTL-E 4 six months ago and always noticed that the passenger inside door handle wouldn’t open the door unless we pushed the unlock button, the driver’s door works normally. We thought this might be a new safety thing until we tried to manually unlock the passenger door today and could not, meaning the passenger door can only be opened inside if you electronically unlock the door. That’s concerning…if we loose battery power in a wreck, you cannot get out the passenger door!! We are calling the dealer in the morning to get this addressed.

Please note that I am a Deaf customer. My primary language is American Sign Language (ASL) and English written is my secondary language. Thank you for understanding. I just bought a 2023 Honda Ridgeline on June 6th, 2023. The "Auto Engine Idle Stop System Problem" error message in the dash has been the problem and appeared many times. I sent it back to the dealership, which was the third time, and the power window master switch was replaced on July 19th, 2023, but it still has not been resolved yet. I made an appointment with the dealership on Monday, July 31st, 2023, which will be 4th attempt. I am tired of it. It is very annoying. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your assistance with this matter.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Potential Consequences:

The component I will be writing about is the front, passenger door locking feature (interior side). I have taken my vehicle to the Honda dealership for inspection. I have also checked New Honda Ridgelines on the lot and found this same locking feature doesn't work the same in each vehicle. This means, in my opinion, that this issue is coming right out of the factory. This problem is easily reproduced. So here is the problem and is only affected on the passenger front door (interior side). The driver's side front door locking feature works without issue. When after manually locking the front passenger door by sliding and pushing in the lock, you are able to open the door by using the interior door handle without issue. The problem is when you use the POWER lock button on either side of the vehicle to lock all the doors. On the driver's side, you can open the door using the handle without issue. On the front passenger side, when pulling the handle ( to open the door), the handle moves a bit, then is physically stopped by something inside the door causing you to be UNABLE to open the door. In addition to this, you cannot slide the lock to the open position so that you can open the door. So if you used the power button to lock the doors, then got in an accident and the power was disabled, you could be trapped on the passenger side and would really be a problem if a fire had started. The dealership loaned me a 2022 Honda Pilot, and it has the same issue as my truck.

I purchased a rear pickup cover. I used it without problems. I took the top off and stored it in my garage. When I put it back on, I noticed nothing wrong. When I went to open the cover to put garbage bags in the rear bed, I found the first part of the tri-top did not open correctly. I took it to 2 dealers when I was told the cover could not be repaired and there were no replacement parts. I have contacted Honds USA and they refuse to do anything about this $1000 part. I want my top replaced. This was a new top, not a used one.

Defect Description:

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

Potential Consequences:

Automatic high beams don’t work fluidly. This is a safety issue because they are sensitive to the point where it seems you are “high beaming” oncoming traffic. This problem has been confirmed by several legitimate websites and by myself. All components are in working order. There are no warning lamps as this is the way the vehicle was intended to operate by the manufacturer. Honda let it slip past and it should not have. This problem needs further review by NHTSA for safety purposes. Thanks
