Defect Description:
SUSPENSION
Potential Consequences:
I have a 2021 Hyundai Palisade with 65,000 miles on it and rear struts have already become an issue. I just (this week) replaced all four tires and did 65,000 mile routine maintenance on this vehicle. During these services, it was inspected by local Hyundai dealership and they confirmed the need for them to be replaced but car is available for additional inspection at any time. We first noticed a slight noise coming from the rear end about 4 months ago and it's progressively gotten worse and more frequent. I drive a considerable amount for work and I'm very concerned this is going to cause handling issues while on the road, especially during rainy weather. Internet forums are full of complaints of the same nature with these vehicles with low mileage. I don't know why Hyundai is not addressing this as a safety recall.

Defect Description:
UNKNOWN OR OTHER
Potential Consequences:
While driving at 65mph on interstate under mild weather conditions the front sunroof spontaneously exploded. There was an extreme loud pop sound followed by glass flying down the roof line and into the fortunately closed sun shade. There was no external impact to cause this and the sunroof mechanism was not being used. After pulling over for inspection a volleyball size hole was seen in front sunroof and the remaining pieces of fractured glass was bowed up suggesting the glass blew up and not down. Safety concerns from the loud pop sound startling driver and potential for glass to rain over driver and occupants if the sunshade is open. The dealer refused to look at the issue and suggested body shop for repair. There were no warning signs and not a driver related issue. There continue to be many incidents being reported here and I'm guessing countless that aren't. There is an issue with the manufacturer needs to address.

Our car was parked in our garage overnight. In the morning, I went to get in the car and found that the sunroof had shattered. There was no evidence that anything had fallen on it or hit it; it was just simply shattered. There had been no previous damage to the vehicle. We attempted to call the 2 local Hyundai dealerships, but either did not receive a call back or they stated that they could not review our car for at least 2-3 weeks to see if this was a defect.

Seat belts do not fully latch despite being inserted fully. It takes multiple attempts to get the tongue to latch into the buckle. This has happened to three separate individuals from my household across multiple instances, and has impacted the driver seat belt buckle, front passenger belt buckle, and second row passenger belt buckles. There are many reports of this happening to other consumers (a quick google search of “Hyundai palisade seatbelt issues” brings up multiple complaints).

SEAT BELTS
Potential Consequences:
The second row seatbelts do not reliably latch. The belts will click closed and the bell indicator will stop beeping when the seatbelt is engaged but it often pops out within minutes or while driving. This is extremely dangerous as my children are essentially driving in a car with no seat belt. My children have now been trained to latch the belt and yank on it to verify. This has reduced incidents as it will usually yank out when they pull hard, but sometimes this is not enough and the seat belt will unlatch later while driving down the road. This has been reported to the Hyundai dealership and they ignore the issue when they can't reproduce it in the shop.

Windshield cracks under normal highway driving condition. Smaller rocks coming onto windshield are expected under highway driving conditions. Of all the 9 vehicles that I have owned previously none had this issue but with Hyundai Palisade the glass cracked very easily. I have small cracks on my windshield at multiple places and it appears that Hyundai has installed a thin windshield or a windshield not suited for highways in USA. Could NHTSA please investigate this?

SEAT BELTS
Potential Consequences:
Within the last few months (car is 3 yrs old), the second-row, left-side seatbelt will randomly come unbuckled. The passenger clicks the seatbelt in, and within a few minutes, it pops out. Sometimes happens multiple times on one trip. Happens with lots of different people and didn't use to happen, so it is not user error. I'm worried that it will not hold up in an accident. No warning lights, messages, or other symptoms. I have it booked in to get repaired at the dealer but I'm skeptical they'll be able to fix it. I have found multiple people online with the same problem and they haven't been able to get it fixed. The problem does not appear to be able to be reproduced.
