FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

The check engine light has gone on three times in the last 18 months. Vehicle has 62,000 miles on it. The first 2 times the issue was with the fuel injectors. All 4 injectors were replaced the first time about 31,000 miles on car and the 2nd time needed to cleaned manifold and reset injectors. today's issue was malfunctioning high pressure fuel pump that leaked into the crank case. The codes for the two most recent repairs are available at Lia Huyndai 645 central ave albany ny. All 3 cases have been confirmed by dealer (Fucillo or Lia). There is one common theme "fuel" involved in all of the warning light problem/code. I have also have a case opened in customer affairs with Hyundai Case #21254176

ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

I have encountered 2 issues that can lead to engine failure: 1- Crack in the Oil Pan, 2- High oil consumption leading to engine failure. 1 - I took my vehicle in for the 5,000 mile oil change Jan 11, 2023. I also told them that my engine was idling rough when I was sitting still. After an hour wait, I was told the oil level was very low and the technician had found a crack in the oil pan near the oil drain plug. I was showed the crack in the pan and allowed to take pictures. They had a pan in stock and replaced the pan. My odometer reading for the service was 87,476. 2 - On March 25, 2023 I checked my oil level and the dip stick showed I was 2 quarts low. The odometer reading at that time was 90,826. I added 2 qts of oil. In retrospect my engine had starting idling rough about 2 weeks before I had to add the 2 qts of oil. The engine ran smoother after the oil was added. I have pictures of the odometer reading and the dip stick. I went into the dealership on March 27, 2023 and told service advisor about the problem. They couldn't get me in until Mon. April 3, 2023. Odometer was reading 91,146. The 90,000 mile service was done and I was told my engine was consuming a lot of oil. I am now in the process of getting Hyundai to approve an Oil Usage Test. If it fails, the dealership told me Hyundai would replace the engine.

SERVICE BRAKES

Potential Consequences:

Hyundai levels 1 and level 2 made promises to do fire hazard recall plus fix other warranty issues while still under warranty. they agreed to do all at same time under warranty. now they walk away from the fire hazard recall, reneged on other repairs and sent to Hyundai Escondido which demanded payment in advance for warranty work. The car is nice but have lost confidence in vehicle due to constant reminders to dont drive often and do not park in garage. We have been in fear for over a year and they do nothing. Now they say I have to file a legal case for lemon law and pay the expenses. They promised loaner or rental plus any out of pocket but it was all a lie. They promised to find another repair dealer and again, lied. always saying "we're having difficulty contacting the dealer" then go dark.

Potential Consequences:

The acceleration of the vehicle from a stop. Whether from a stop sign, stop light, even sometimes after slowing down after a turn. It hesitates while the gas pedal is still being applied. Causing the vehicle to slow and other vehicles are forced to brake. The engine does not rev and the tachometer does not move. There are no warnings lights or vehicle notifications. After several attempts to bring it to the dealership, they are never able to replicate the issue. The OBD scans show no issues. It has never been a constant problem, however it remains as a "hit or miss" issue. Could be days of no problems and then popping back up every stop.

ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

Within the last few weeks my 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport SUV has been experiencing few noticeable issues. 1st my vehicle doesn’t want to start when I turn the key, I have to open the door close it then try again and it will turn over to start. 2nd recently driving on the highway my vehicle slowed all the way down and started jerking like it wanted to cut off. I would push my accelerator down as far as possible and it will still go slow and not speed up.3rd my vehicle is making a throttle/knocking noise and a blinking check engine light is on as well.

Potential Consequences:

I noticed at roughly about 120,000 miles the vehicle started slowly consuming oil. Vehicle now consumes excessively at 1 quart of oil about every 800 to 1000 miles. Oil level needs to be checked daily for fear of further damage. I recently changed the oil on 3/12/23 and checked oil on 3/15/23 and vehicle was a half quart low.
