FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
Potential Consequences:
After driving the car for a while, when the car is parked and the car is still ON, the car began displaying - Check Lane Assist warning. From that point, the Smart cruise is not working. The warning displayed for more than 20 days. It happened to me more than 5 times. I reached out to Kia and their engineer is unable to resolve it. The warnings get erased after 20+ days. In the recent visit, Kia engineer asked me to change all 4 tires, which I did along with the Wheel balancing and alignment, still I got the same issue last week.

Defect Description:
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
Once again, the ICCU on the car failed requiring intervention / towing. This is the second outage of the ICCU. This issue happened in early April 2025 (April 8th I believe). My car was parked at work. I entered my car after work and turned on the car. I heard a pop from the rear passenger side identical to the issue as it had happened last January (2024). Shortly thereafter, the check electrical system warning came on. I briefly attempted to drive car to move it to where would likely be an easier spot for the purposes of towing (one parking lot over that is not gated). During that brief drive (roughly 1/4 of a mile), the car immediately began issuing warnings requesting that I pull over and stop. I entered the nearby parking lot and parked the car where it was towed the next day to the dealership.

Defect Description:
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
Potential Consequences:
I was involved in a fatal head-on collision with a pedestrian while driving my Kia EV6. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist : The FCA system appears to have completely failed. It did not detect the pedestrian, did not provide any audible or visual warnings, and did not initiate automatic emergency braking prior to the collision. Airbag System: The system failed to deploy despite a severe head-on collision. Regarding availability for inspection: The car was impounded by the SDPD and was inspected by both the police and State Farm before being sold to SF after being rendered a total loss. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? My Safety: The failure of the airbags to deploy put me at significant risk of serious injury or death in the severe head-on collision. The Safety of Others: While the primary consequence of the FCA failure was the tragic impact with the pedestrian, the malfunction of a safety system designed to prevent or mitigate collisions inherently puts all potential road users at risk. Had the FCA functioned correctly, the collision might have been avoided entirely or the impact speed significantly reduced, potentially altering the outcome for the pedestrian. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No not to my knowledge. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? As mentioned above, the car was impounded by the SDPD and was fully inspected by both the police and State Farm. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? None.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
24V200 KIA recall is not being upheld by the manufacturer. they are only performing recall in a small subset of customers - hundreds if not thousands are being fobbed off (by JUST doing software updates) even when having to be towed in 4 or 5 times. In my case i have been towed 4 times. one of the times by power failed with little warning - the other 3 times it would not start in the morning - the car does not give many minutes/miles of wanring as recommended by NHTSA to allow driver to pull over safely. THIS WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT CRASH - it is just a matter of time. in my case kia is refusing to replace ICCU even though my vehicel is covered by the recall and has lost power 4 times - this is a scandal.

Potential Consequences:
The ICCU failed causing the vehicle to shut down in the middle of the road with no warning at all. Shutting down in the middle of the road with no warning is a major safety issue. Kia is aware of this fault with the EV6 and all other EGMP platform vehicles, and has made no effort to fix the issue. They just replace the faulty ICCU with another faulty ICCU and hope it doesn't fail before the warranty runs out. They are putting lives at risk, and all EGMP vehicles are unfit for purpose. Kia has the vehicle, has confirmed they will "repair" it under warranty. There is no timeframe for the "repair" and the repair doesn't fix the issue, it just puts the vehicle back on the road in the same unsafe condition in which it is likely to shut down in the middle of the road again.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
After charging vehicle using L2 charger, (max 7kw) vehicle threw two error messages on screen. 1) “check electrical system” & 2) “stop vehicle and check power supply” Using an OBDII reader, the car provided error code P1A9096. I also noticed the car stopped charging the 12V battery as the 12V state of charge was down to 22%. I towed it to the dealer and they are currently working on diagnosing the issue.

Defect Description:
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
I was leaving a parking space when I heard a pop in the right rear of the vehicle. I merged in to traffic and drove stop and go for about three blocks when a warnning message appeared on the dash saying that there was an electrical issue. I've been following this issue on various model specific forums so I was sure what had happened and knew that I had to get off the road quickly. I was able to find an open parking lot and immediately called for KIA roadside assistance. By the time the tow truck arrived all electrical systems were dead. It was towed to the dealer and the next day I was informed that diagnostics determined that the vehicle had a failed ICCU (Integrated Charge Control Unit). This vehicle has had the recalls that addressed this issue with software updates.
