The low-pressure fuel pump inside the fuel tank may fail.

Potential Risk:
If the fuel pump fails, the engine can stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump assembly with an improved one, free of charge. Owners of specific models were notified that remedy parts were available starting January 21, 2021. Owners of other models will be notified as remedy parts become available. Remedy parts should be available for all affected vehicles by late March 2021. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371 or Lexus customer service at 1-800-255-3987. Note: This recall is an expansion of recall 20V-012. Toyota's number for this recall is 20TA02. Lexus' number for this recall is 20LA01.

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) recalled certain 2018-2019 4Runner, Highlander, Camry, Land Cruiser, Sequoia, Sienna, Tacoma and Tundra, and Lexus RC 300, RC 350, GS 350, GX 460, IS 300, LC 500, LS 500, LX 570, RX 350L, and 2019 Toyota Avalon and Corolla, and certain Lexus NX 300, and ES 350 vehicles on January 13, 2020. On March 4, 2020, Toyota expanded the recall to include certain 2014-2015 Toyota 4Runner and Land Cruiser, 2018 Avalon, Corolla, 2014 FJ Cruiser, 2017 Sienna and Lexus 2018 ES 350, 2018-2019 GS 300, 2013-2014 GS350, 2014-2015 GX 460, IS 350 and LX 570, 2014 IS F, 2018-2019 IS 350, LC 500H and LS 500H, 2013-2015 LS 460, 2015 NX 200T and RC350, 2017 RC 200T and RX 350. Toyota also removed the 2018-2019 Toyota 4Runner and Land Cruiser and 2018-2019 Lexus GX 460 and LX 570 and 2019 NX300 from inclusion in this recall. On March 19, 2020, Toyota expanded the recall to include 2015 Lexus GS350 vehicles. The low-pressure fuel pump inside the fuel tank may fail.

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2018 Toyota Camry and Highlander vehicles, 2017 Toyota Sienna and Tacoma vehicles and 2017 Lexus RX350 vehicles. During the manufacturing process, the oil galley in the rotor for the brake booster vacuum pump assembly may have been improperly machined possibly resulting in a sudden loss of brake assist.

Potential Risk:
A sudden loss of braking assist can increase the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the brake booster vacuum pump, free of charge. The recall began on May 9, 2018. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371, or Lexus customer service at 1-800-255-3987. Toyota's numbers for this recall are J0K/JLD.

VEHICLE SOMETIMES WILL VIOLENTLY SURGE FORWARD WHEN TAKING OFF. THE RESPONSE OF THE ACCELERATOR IS VERY INCONSISTENT. SOMETIMES, YOU CAN HARDLY GET THE VEHICLE TO GO, AND OTHER TIMES IT WILL JUST EXPLODE FORWARD WITH JUST THE SMALLEST AMOUNT OF PRESSURE APPLIED TO THE PEDAL.THIS CAUSED ME TO RUN INTO THE DITCH. VERY UNSAFE.

I PURCHASED THE NEW CAR IN SEPTEMBER 2017. ON NOVEMBER 17, 2017, AT APPROXIMATELY 1,500 MILES, AFTER THE CAR WAS SITTING IN THE GARAGE FOR 2 DAYS, IT WOULD NOT START--THE MESSAGE ON THE CONSOLE STATED "BRAKE POWER LOW STOP IN A SAFE PLACE." THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE BRAKE POWER BOOSTER WAS REPLACED. ON FEBRUARY 3, 2018, AT APPROXIMATELY, 2,893 MILES THE SAME EVENT OCCURRED AFTER THE CAR SAT IN THE GARAGE FOR TWO DAYS AND THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AGAIN. THE SERVICE CONSULTANT STATED "THERE SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH PRESSURE IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM". THE SERVICE CONSULTANT STATED LEXUS IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE, BUT A FIX HAS NOT BEEN FOUND. THE CONSULTANT STATED THE WORKAROUND IS TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL AS HARD AS YOU CAN, WAIT FOR THE IGNITION KEY SYMBOL TO SHOW ON THE CONSOLE AND THEN PRESS THE IGNITION KEY. ON FEBRUARY 16, 2018, I RECEIVED A TEXT FROM THE DEALERSHIP THAT THERE WAS A SOFTWARE UPGRADE OUT FOR THE LOW BRAKE PRESSURE. I RETURNED THE CAR TO THE DEALER. ON 2/21/2018, I RECEIVED A TEXT FROM THE DEALER STATING THE CAR IS READY FOR PICKUP. THE WORKORDER SIMPLY STATED "TECHNICIAN PERFORMED TSB# L-SB-0004-18". THE SERVICE CONSULTANT WOULD NOT EXPLAIN WHAT THE TSB WAS FIXING OR HOW IT REMEDIED THE PROBLEM. I CONTACTED LEXUS CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY SAID THE TSB UPGRADED THE METER CONTROL LOGIC UNIT. ONGOING PROBLEM: IF THE CAR SITS FOR MORE THAN 1 DAY, THE BRAKE PEDAL MUST BE DEPRESSED WITH MUCH FORCE BEFORE THE CAR IS ABLE TO START. THIS INDICATES THE BRAKE BOOSTER IS STILL LOSING PRESSURE. CONCERN: IF THE BRAKE BOOSTER LOSES PRESSURE WHILE SITTING IN THE GARAGE FOR MORE THAN A DAY, WILL IT FAIL ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE DRIVING. FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

FROM THE FIRST WEEK I PURCHASED THIS NEW 2017 LEXUS RX350, I NOTICED THAT RAPID ACCELERATION IS NOT POSSIBLE. THERE IS A MOMENTARY HESITATION AFTER DEEPLY AND RAPIDLY DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR. THIS IS MOSTLY NOTICED WHEN AGGRESSIVELY PULLING INTO A TRAFFIC LANE SAY, FROM A SIDE STREET OR PARKING LOT, OR WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE. WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS RAPIDLY PRESSED TO THE FLOOR, THE RPM'S NEARLY RED-LINES BUT THE VEHICLE DOESN'T ACCELERATE FOR NEARLY A SECOND, WHICH SEEMS A DANGEROUSLY LONG TIME WHEN YOU'RE IN TRAFFIC. THIS IS NOT ONLY AGGRAVATING, SEEING I PAID SO MUCH FOR WHAT IS ADVERTISED AS AND SUPPOSED TO BE A HIGHLY RATED CAR BUT IS DANGEROUS THIS CAR CAN NOT ACCELERATE AS RAPIDLY AS IT SHOULD. I MADE THE DEALER AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND HE SAID IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH SOME OF THE CARS AND IT IS FIXABLE BUT CAN'T UNTIL IT IS APPROVED BY SOME GOVERNMENT AGENCY. THE CAR IS LESS THAN 6 MONTHS OLD WITH LESS THAN 6,000 MILES AND I FEEL IT IS NOT SAFE AND DON'T WANT IT ANYMORE UNLESS IT CAN BE FIXED VERY SOON.

Corrective Action:
