The contact stated that after the second failure, the vehicle was towed to the dealer, and the dealer was unable to identify the cause of the failure. The contact inquired about NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V774000 (Engine and Engine Cooling, Hybrid Propulsion System). The dealer confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that after the third failure, the vehicle was taken to the dealer, who claimed that the decoration the contact applied around the push-start button was causing a malfunction in communication. The failure persisted. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle with alternator failure, and the alternator was replaced. The contact received a notice about an extended warranty coverage for the Control Variable Timing (CVT) valve. The manufacturer was informed of the failure, and a case was opened. The manufacturer confirmed the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V774000 ( Engine and Engine Cooling, Hybrid Propulsion System) and under the extended warranty coverage. Defect Description:
ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
I have been experiencing complete driving failure with my 2016 Nissan Murano. It shutdowns randomly without any warning well driving in traffic. I have already experienced being put in a crash risk three times. I have been trying to work with the dealer for almost 2 months now, only to receive my SUV with the same issue. I am terrified to be forced to put my children in such a high risk automobile as this is supposed to be our reliable transportation. I am highly disappointed and uncomfortable with the dealership stating repeatedly they don’t know what’s wrong with my vehicle as they are no codes to factually state the real issue. In the process I am being told I need to pay for highly priced repair guesses or problems that have been generated in their care trying to figure things out. The vehicle has even stopped on them while driving. After driving off their lot twice only to be stranded and put in a crash risk I am not comfortable with being rushed to pick up this vehicle without total safety concerns being addressed. Nissan has not addressed my concerns about their vehicles having recalls about this same issues, only stating it doesn’t show up for my vin# Well why am I having the same exact problem? The safety risks of the vehicle failing in the mist of traffic with absolutely no warning is a huge life threatening risk and shouldn’t be of the hardship of my family as I immediately had it towed to the dealership to assure safety for all. I purchased what I thought would be a safer longevity vehicle to transport my children. I am really having a difficult time with understanding of my concerns are of top priority. As I do appreciate being given a rental while they try a figure it out. My major concerns are being given the vehicle back at the same exact safety issues or worse. Please your cooperation in assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated

POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
My car smells like something is burning, when I drive it for a distance. I had my oil changed back in December and I took it back to the Dealership and advised of the smell and I was advised that my transmission was leaking. When I purchased my car used in August of 2023, I took it back to the Dealership advising that it seemed like it wasn't shifting properly and was advised that 2 mechanics and the Salesman all drove the car, and nothing was wrong and I just needed to get used to the way a Nissan vehicle transmission shifts and here I am today being advised that I have to pay $1200.00 for the repairs for the inner and outer seals because they are leaking. This actually to me is a safety concern because I smell something burning and I have a small child. I also remember seeing a sticker advising do not sale on the car and because of seeing a report on the news about those stickers being placed on cars I am concerned about that also and that I was sold a car that was possibly not supposed to have been purchased. I have contacted the Consume Affairs from Nissan and got nowhere because once again no one wants to take responsibility and fix the car and at this point I really would just like to get another car and to be compensated for the last 2 years. My name is [XXX] and I can be reached at [XXX] . INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

july 2024 traction warning kept appearing on a daily basis. I have pushed Traction off button which both remain on then when car is off (for about 15min or so) then both disappear. However soon afterwards if I keep driving it will appear again - My fear, twice the Traction warning appeared and without putting on Traction off my Vehicle stalled - it was in a frozen state - couldn't move steering wheel -then slowly began moving at 5mph until Traction off was pushed and slowly began running again - but my car does not drive past 65mph on freeway? These are normal streets I'm driving, no pot holes etc. Finally able to get appt with my local mechanic Klipper Automotive for August 30th.

The Nissan Murano’s were recalled back in 2020 stating their CVT was causing stalling issues mid driving and overheating in extreme weather (heat). I complained to Nissan prior to this recall and was told it was filter issue then a battery issue. Of course if was neither. The recall was completed, however for the past year and half my Nissan Murano Hybrid stalls when the air condition is on during the summer. The car drives fine in the winter and late fall. I have taken my vehicle to 2 Nissan dealerships Owings Mills and Ellicott City wanted to ensure of the issue. Both came back with the same answer, for the Consumer rep Ali suggested getting a second opinion and I informed him I did. The Hybrid CVT is overheating mechanical failure due to a part inside the transmission. Nissan refuses to fix stating I need to pay $11,000 for a new transmission to fix the issue. The service rep John stated no other Murano has ever had this happen and of course they no longer make my year (2016). I have contacted Nissan Consumer line twice and was informed they will not be doing a good will either. The cost is so high was told because they have to build a new one. I believe NIssan knew of this problem and ignored and was hoping the recall would fix the shudder and shut off of the vehicle. Another recall needs to be done on CVT’s for the brand Nissan and should be responsible for fixing this.
