Recall Date: Feb 16, 2023
Safety Issue:

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2014-2020 Rogue and 2017-2022 Rogue Sport vehicles equipped with a jackknife style ignition key. The jackknife key may collapse into a folded position while driving.

Potential Risk:
Driver contact with a key in the collapsed position could inadvertently shut off the vehicle while driving, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, if the vehicle shuts off while driving, the air bags may not deploy in a crash as intended, increasing the risk of injury.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will insert a spacer into the key slot of the jackknife key, free of charge. Interim notification letters notifying owners of the safety risk were mailed March 29, 2023. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 30, 2023. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall is R22C5.

Corrosion in the electrical connector can result in power window/seat failure, all-wheel-drive warning light illumination, battery drainage, and electrical connector damage that increases the risk of a fire.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will remove the harness tape and harness covering and replace both connectors and apply white lithium grease to the connectors as necessary, free of charge. Recall Date: Dec 19, 2016
Safety Issue:

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Altima vehicles manufactured January 3, 2013, to July 29, 2013, 2015-2016 Rogue vehicles manufactured October 14, 2014, to August 12, 2016, and 2016 Maxima vehicles manufactured June 4, 2015, to August 19, 2015. AIR BAGS

Potential Consequences:

I PURCHASED A 2016 ROGUE FROM COOL SPRINGS NISSAN ON 11/16/2016 AND TOOK DELIVERY ON 11/17 2016. UPON ARRIVAL TO TAKE DELIVERY WE NOTICED THAT THE ARS LIGHT WAS ON AND CONTACTED THE SALESMAN TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS, HE TOOK THE NEW VEHICLE TO THE SERVICE DEPT. AND WAS TOLD THAT THE UNIT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE SO WE TOOK THE VEHICLE THINKING WE WERE OK. I CAME HOME AND READ THE MANUAL AND REALIZED THAT THE AIRBAGS WERE ACTUALLY NOT GOING TO WORK IF WE WERE IN A WRECK. I CALLED THE DEALER SERVICE DEPT. THE FIRST THING THE NEXT MORNING AND WAS TOLD TO BRING IT IN ON 11/19 AND THEY WOULD TRY TO FIX. UPON ARRIVAL AT DEALER WE WERE THEN TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN ALLOW TO LEAVE THEIR LOT. THEY PUT US IN A RENTAL. THEY RETURNED THE CAR TO US 11/22 AND WE GUESS IT WAS FIXED ( THE LITE IS NOT ON). IS THERE NOT SOME KIND OF LAW THAT WOULD KEEP DEALERS FROM PUTTING PEOPLE IN DANGER?

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

Potential Consequences:

IN FEBRUARY 2016 I PURCHASED A 2016 NISSAN AFTER HAVING OWNED MURANOS OR ROGUE FOR ABOUT 9 PREVIOUS YEARS. THE HEADLITE SYSTEM WAS CHANGED TO A LED COMPUTER CONTROLLED SYSTEM. THE HEADLITES WERE NOW VERY FOCUSED WITH NO LIGHT ESCAPING FROM A HEAVY DIRECT CONCENTRATED BEAM. IF THE NORMAL HEADLITES WERE TURNED ON AND DIRECTED TOWARD THE BACK OF ANOTHER YOU CAN DISTINCTLY NOTICE THE CLEAR AREA FROM THE GROUND UP TO THE HEIGHT OF THE ROGUE'S HOOD. THE REST OF THE LIGHT WOULD APPEAR TO BE TINTED. IF THE HIGH BEAMS WERE TURNED ON YOU WOULD HAVE MORE LIGHT ON THE OBJECT IN FRONT OF THE ROGUE. THE MAIN PROBLEM IS WHEN THE ROGUE IS HEADED DOWN HILL. THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL WOULD BE LIT UP BUT THE AREA DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE ROGUE WOULD BE LIKE A BLACK HOLE ESPECIALLY IF TRAVELING ON AN UNLIT COUNTRY ROAD. AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. I RETURNED TO DEMO THIS CONDITION TO THE NISSAN DEALER WHO CONFIRMED MY FEELINGS ABOUT THE HEADLITES. I THEN REPORTED THE SAME INFO TO NISSAN WHO TOOK MY COMMENTS BUT DID NOT INDICATE WHETHER ANYTHING WOULD BE DONE. I URGE YOU TO INVESTIGATE AS IT IS ANOTHER INDICATION THAT HEADLITES ARE A DEFECT AND SHOULD BE CORRECTED. THANK YOU, THE VEHICLE PERFORMS THE SAME WAY WHETHER STATIONARY, IN MOTION OR ON ANY TYPE OF ROAD BUT IS MOST DANGEROUS ON A DARK COUNTRY ROAD. THANK YOU [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

STEERING

Potential Consequences:

WHEN TURNING THE VEHICLE WHILE PARKING IT MAKES A CLICKING NOISE. THE NOISE CAN ALSO BE FELT IN THE STEERING WHEEL. IT STARTED 2 WEEKS AFTER WE PURCHASED IT. IT'S SIMILAR TO A BROKEN CV JOINT NOISE. THIS IS A BRAND NEW VEHICLE AND THE DEALER STATED "WE DON'T KNOW HOW TO REPAIR IT, BUT IT'S SAVE TO DRIVE." IF ONE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT IT IS, HOW CAN THEY SAY IT'S SAFE TO DRIVE? I'VE CONTACTED NISSAN'S CONSUMER COMPLAINT LINE AND THEY'RE STICKING WITH THE SAME NARRATIVE.
