POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

Drive mode for my 2022 Porsche Taycan 4S has been abruptly changing from Drive to either Neutral or Park on its own. Noticed within first week or so of ownership. Primarily has occurred during low to no speed situations (e.g., turning into a parking spot and car switches to Neutral abruptly or stopped at a red light and switches to Park). However, there has been one instance where drive mode switched to Neutral while I was going through an intersection resulting in a near crash with the vehicle in front as brakes were unresponsive while in Neutral. Had I not been able to react in time the safety of the passengers in the vehicle in front as well as my wife and I would have been severely compromised. Each of these occurrences were without warning messages (despite the car having a host of other false alarms around collisions, e-sound issues, etc. that occur regularly). The issue was reported to the dealer on multiple occasions. During the first inspection they told me that there were numerous error logs that had been cleared out and that it should be fine. The issue did not resurface for another couple weeks after which I brought car back in and no error logs were found (and for some reason error logs from prior inspection were not kept for records). They took car in for extended test drive and was unable to replicate issue and said Porsche NA did not acknowledge the issue. So nothing to be done unless I could record the issue as it happens (i.e., trying to record my drive mode selector while driving). However upon reiterating the risk to safety and numerous reports of identical issues raised by other drivers, they reached back out to Porsche and eventually found that Porsche now acknowledges the issue but does not know when it will be addressed. Even after their second inspection, the issue has still continued.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

Without warning the car flashed an "Electrical Failure" warning and then lost all power and coasted to a stop while "bucking" slightly. This stranded us on the side of a narrow 2-lane road (NV28) with limited visibility. The high-voltage battery in the car apparently failed. This has been verified by the dealer. Our safety was put at risk by being stopped in a dangerous location on a narrow 2-lane road at night with falling temperatures. The "Electrical Failure" warning happened simultaneously with the vehicle losing power.

BACK OVER PREVENTION: WARNINGS

Potential Consequences:

The car showed the error from start. It did not show any signs of trouble before this incident. It seems to have happened to plenty others and for some, restarting the vehicle clears the faults. For me it has not cleared after 3 attempts over 6hrs. - The systems which showed malfunction were: 1. ParkAssist: sensors around the car which are used to emit series of beeping sounds when the vehicle approaches a near-by object 2. Rear Cross Traffic Alert: uses cameras and other sensors to detect if a vehicle is crossing behind the car and alerts the driver. - The car has rather limited rear visibility (very small rear window). Driving in reverse is severely compromised without the aid of these systems - The car has not been seen by the dealer(nor anyone else) yet. Appointment is in 2 weeks - Warnings did show up on the display. I've attached pictures of the instrument cluster with the errors.
