Safety Issue:

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2019-2024 Ram 1500 vehicles. The driver's side air bag may not be connected properly, which can cause the air bag not to deploy as intended. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Potential Risk:
A driver's side air bag that does not deploy as intended increases the risk of injury in a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers secured the connectors for the air bag, free of charge. All vehicles have been remedied. Owner notification letters were mailed May 27, 2025. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is 08C.

Safety Issue:

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2016-2019 Ram 3500, Ram 1500, 2016-2020 Ram 2500, and 2016 Ram 3500 Cab Chassis vehicles. The right and left side curtain air bag inflators may rupture due to a manufacturing defect.

Potential Risk:
An inflator rupture may result in sharp metal fragments striking occupants, resulting in injury.
FREE Recall Solution:

Safety Issue:

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2019, 2021-2024 Ram 1500 vehicles. Due to a software malfunction, the anti-lock brake system (ABS) control module may disable the electronic stability control system. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 126, "Electronic Stability Control Systems."

Potential Risk:
Driving with a disabled electronic stability control system can increase the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will update the ABS control module software, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed October 10, 2024. Safety Issue:

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2019 Ram 1500 and 2014-2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles equipped with 3.0L Diesel engines. The crankshaft position sensor tone wheel may delaminate, causing the engine to lose its ability to synchronize the fuel injector pulses and cam shaft timing, possibly resulting in an engine stall.

Potential Risk:
An engine stall can increase the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will update the powertrain control module software to maintain vehicle propulsion, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed August 3, 2023. Some owner notification letters were mailed October 31, 2023. Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2019-2022 Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 pickup trucks. The tailgate may not latch properly due to misaligned tailgate strikers, which could result in the tailgate opening while driving.

Potential Risk:
An unintended tailgate opening while driving may result in a loss of unsecured cargo, possibly creating a road hazard and increasing the risk of a crash.

Safety Issue:

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and 2014-2019 Ram 1500 vehicles equipped with 3.0L diesel engines. A high pressure fuel pump (HPFP) failure may introduce internal debris into the fuel system, potentially resulting in fuel starvation.

Potential Risk:
Fuel starvation may result in an unexpected loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will replace the HPFP, and inspect and replace, if necessary, additional fuel system components, free of charge. Interim notification letters informing owners of the safety risk were mailed July 21, 2022. Owner notification letters for were mailed for Jeep Grand Cherokee owners starting January 11, 2024. Safety Issue:

Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2015-2020 Ram 1500 Classic, 2015-2016 Ram 3500, and Ram 2500 vehicles, and 2016 Ram 3500 Cab Chassis with a gross vehicle weight rating less than 10,000 lbs. The side air bag inflatable curtain (SABIC) inflator end cap may detach from the inflator, or the inflator sidewall may rupture.

Potential Risk:
A separated inflator end cap or inflator rupture can allow compressed gas to escape, resulting in the end cap or other components being propelled into the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury or crash.

A software error can cause the rearview camera image to remain displayed after the vehicle has been shifted out of reverse. The lingering rearview image can distract the driver, increasing the risk of a crash.

The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) cooler may crack and allow pre-heated vaporized coolant to enter the EGR system. This mixture may combust inside the intake manifold.

Potential Risk:
Combustion in the intake manifold can increase the risk of a fire.

Safety Issue:

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Ram 1500 pickup trucks. The rear driveshaft may have an incomplete weld fusion between the tube and tube yoke, which may lead to weld cracking or the driveshaft fracturing.

Potential Risk:
A fractured rear driveshaft could detach from the vehicle and become a road hazard, or it may result in a loss of drive power, both of which can increase the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:

Vehicles with this combination do not have a functioning windshield defrosting and defogging system. As a result, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 103, "Windshield defrosting and defogging systems."

Potential Risk:

If the sensor cannot identify that the seat is in the full-forward position and adjust the frontal air bag deployment accordingly, there would be an increased the risk of a injury in the event of a crash.

Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Dodge Journey, Charger and Durango, RAM 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis (more than 10,000lb), 4500 Cab Chassis and 5500 Cab Chassis, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300, 2014-2019 RAM 1500, 2015-2018 Dodge Challenger, 2015-2017 Chrysler 200, 2016-2018 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis (less than 10,000 lb), 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica and 2018 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.

Potential Risk:
If the vehicle maintains its speed or accelerates despite attempts to deactivate the cruise control, there would be an increased risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the software, and perform a software flash on the engine or powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall began June 4, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Note: Owners are advised to stop using cruise control until the software update has been performed. In the event that cruise control cannot be disengaged while driving, owners should firmly and steadily apply the brakes and shift the transmission to neutral, placing the vehicle in park once it has stopped.

LANE DEPARTURE: BLIND SPOT DETECTION

Potential Consequences:

My vehicle is experiencing electrical issues that cause major systems to stop working while driving. This includes internal messaging screens, blind spot warning and various other systems failing. The most serious of which is the electronic power steering. It went out several times while driving and I nearly lost control of the vehicle. The first time it happened I was traveling and had to take the vehicle to a non dealer repair shop where they replaced the alternator. This initially appeared to resolve the issue but ultimately the problem returned with a few days. FCA has been unable to determine the cause and my truck remains at a local dealership.

The ram 1500 'tick' as it has become known has started on my vehicle. Just like other reports, it would seem the bolts on my exhaust manifold have snapped causing exhaust to leak into the cabin of the truck. The truck doesn't throw any warnings for it, and the only reason it was discovered was because of a slight 'ticking' sound that can be heard on engine startup. The vehicle does not have any recalls for the issue despite numerous reports of a similar problem. I took the vehicle to a service center where they confirmed the issue. There is a known problem with ram headlights developing condensation within the headlight assembly. This is a problem as too much condensation can cause shorts and/or permanent damage to electronics. With standard halogen bulbs, the worst case is to replace the bulb and try to remove moisture and prevent future condensation build up. The problem with led lights, and especially pourly designed headlights with led modules on the underside so any moisture falls into the module and ruins it. This is a major saftey concern as your headlights can go out at anytime without warning and potentially cause both to go out at similarly times as condensation build up is a factor of the weather. Furthermore, with the led headlight module being on bottom of the headlight where the moisture build up is strongest, it shorts out the module so you loose all lights within the headlight. This is extremely dangerous for all vehicles and pedestrians in the area as all lights can go out without warning, likely resulting in a wreck. This issue has been brought to ram before, you can easily find many forums of ram owners having this issue. A few people have had their headlights replaced by ram, but the majority of people have not. Also, the people who have had their headlights replaced, received the same headlights as factory lights, so they may have the same issues in the future.

There are 4 airbags near where the water comes in creating concerns that they may be compromised. Water leaks into the rf hub causing it to malfunction. This has happened twice. The first time, 5/9/2022 the vehicle would not turn off requiring battery disconnection to turn it off. The second time, 9/14/2022, the vehicle would not start and the electric parking brake would not release. Dealership has confirmed under tsb 23-016-21. There are also 2 others, one for the 3rd brake light and one for the aux antenna. Vehicle has 13500 miles and is out of warranty.

The loosened cable struck the contact on his left leg. There was no injury sustained. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the bolts needed to be replaced. This has created a risk as I can no longer receive system information or warnings as a result. Specifically I was unaware that an object in the road severely punctured one of my tires and I had lost all pressure until a concerned driver informed me. There have been no warning lamps leading up to this problem prior to its occurrence and it can 100% be replicated as it hasn’t worked since the last time it went dark. It has not been inspected yet as I have been trying to determine the cause for repair. Everything can be made available for inspection upon request.

Defect Description:

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

I had a failed 48v battery for the etourque system so the 12v battery was no longer being charged. I had a dispute with the dealer so I picked up the truck and began to drive home. As the generator/alternator for the etourque system was not able to charge the 48v and 12v batteries due to the 48v battery fault, the engine and all systems were running on whatever charge was left in the 12v battery. When the battery began to completely discharge, systems began to fail/go offline. Though the engine was still running as I tried to find a safe spot to pull off the road, the electric power steering failed. Unlike a traditional hydraulic power steering system failure where the wheel can be turned easily at speed and with effort at minimal speed, I was almost unable to turn the wheel at all at over 30 miles per hour. I had to pull as hard as I could to turn at a limited radius until I barely made it to a safe location off the road. The electric power steering system makes it nearly impossible to turn the steering wheel if it loses power. I am a large male and someone weaker or smaller may not have been able to turn the wheel at all.

The airbag(s) and Seat belt tensioner failed, and yes, the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. I was in a full frontal collision at 45 mph, the airbags did not deploy, and the seatbelt did not tighten or lock. I was thrown all over the truck and suffered several severe injuries, some of which may be permanent. RAM was notified and had stated everything was fine with the truck. But after detailed inspection by the collision center, they disagree and feel there was a malfunction. The insurance company after visual inspection also feels there was a malfunction. There is substantial frame damage, and the front of the truck was crushed. There were no warning lights or symptoms of failure previous to the incident.

VISIBILITY/WIPER

Potential Consequences:

My drivers side sun visor is broke and keeps falling down in front of me while I'm driving causing a serious safety hazard. This is an event that happened, My Wife and 2 other friends are driving from phoenix to LA. the sun visor has broke at the pivoting point in which it holds up the main weight of the visor (not the spot where you would click it into) as we are driving the visor randomly comes out and falls down enough to block my vision and startle me only thing hold it up is the wire connection. this keeps happening which makes it very difficult to drive. in addition I'm now unable to block the sun from blazing into my eyes while driving at sunset and sunrise. I'm also filing this complaint because while searching online for a fix I noticed that there are a lot of people having the same issue so I'm trying to bring awarness to the problem
