Safety Issue:
Subaru of America, Inc. (Subaru) is recalling certain 2014-2016 Forester, 2008-2016 Impreza sedans, 2012-2016 Impreza station wagons, 2008-2014 WRX sedans (including STI), and 2013-2017 Crosstrek vehicles. Exposure to certain contaminants may cause the brake light switch to malfunction, preventing the brake lights from illuminating and also preventing keyless ignition vehicles from starting and CVT/automatic transmissions from being able to be shifted out of Park.

Potential Consequences:
I WAS DRIVING TO A THANKSGIVING GATHERING, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR JULTED. IT WAS VERY ODD FELT ALMOST LIKE A PIN WAS PUT IN THE TRANSMISSION FORCING THE TIRES TO STOP SPINING. BUT WAS VERY BRIEF. AFTER ANOTHER 0.5 MILES OF DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 70MPH IT HAPPENED AGAIN BUT CONTINUOUSLY WITH LOUD GRINDING AND CRUNCHY NOISES. AFTER PULING OVER THE CAR WAS SMOKING. THE TRANSMISSION WAS EXTREMELY HOT. NO LIGHTS WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. GOT A TOW TRUCK AND IT STRUGGLED TO PULL THE CAR ON TO THE TRAILER BED. AND WHILE IT WAS ROLLING ON YOU COULD STILL HEAR THE GRINDING NOISES. WE HAD 4 PEOPLE IN THE CAR 2 SMALL 5FT 2IN WOMEN AND 2 MAKES WINNING 180 LBS.
