Safety Issue:

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2018-2019 Chevrolet Cruze and Buick LaCrosse, 2018-2020 Chevrolet Equinox, Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Terrain, 2018 Chevrolet Malibu, 2019-2020 Buick Encore, Buick Enclave, Cadillac XT4, Chevrolet Blazer and GMC Acadia, and 2020 Cadillac XT6 vehicles. The start/stop accumulator endcap may have missing bolts.

Potential Risk:
Missing bolts on the start-stop accumulator endcap could result in a transmission oil leak and may progress to a loss of propulsion, increasing the risk of a crash. A transmission fluid leak in the presence of an ignition source may increase the risk of fire.
FREE Recall Solution:
GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the start-stop transmission accumulator and replace it if any bolts are missing, free of charge. The recall began December 15, 2020. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267, Buick Customer service at 1-866-608-8080, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is N202313440.

Safety Issue:

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2019 Buick Encore, Chevrolet Spark, Traverse, and Trax vehicles. The Sensing Diagnostic Module (SDM) on these vehicle may not have been turned off of "manufacturing mode," preventing the air bags from deploying in the event of a crash.

Potential Risk:
If the air bags do not deploy in the event of a crash, it can increase the risk of injury.
FREE Recall Solution:
GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the SDM module to the correct mode, free of charge. The recall began November 6, 2018. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300 and Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is 18365.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL

Potential Consequences:

my car engine did not shut off i had to call on star to assist turn off my engine. there is problem with ANTI theft system and cruise control. i had to press cruise button numberous time to shut it off. on start customer advice me to take it to dealer to take look. they did on board diagnosit test they found these code

I haven't drove my car in 2 years because the engine and a/c went out on a vehicle that only have 67,000 miles. I should not have to replace a whole engine and a/c when I got the car brand new off the lot. This is my second buick that has had serious problem GM IS SELLING LEMONS TO THERE CUSTOMERS AND IM LOOKING TO STARTING A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IF THIS IS NOT FIXED.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

Potential Consequences:

My radar to let me know i was going to hit something didn't go offer. It has never failed before and has been overactive actually which I appreciated before. I was doing 60 with my paraplegic wife (luckily not our 5 year old as well though) in the right lane because it's safer to go slower and be there. I was distracted by a strange machine being transported on a truck to my left. This was my fault. I hear the ultimate responsibility and the majority if not all of it. I saw the road construction trucks 400 feet ahead of me at most. Maybe less than 300 and luckily no one was to my right the truck distracting me was ahead so I had room to avoid hitting the construction truck with the sign saying move over. It was doing maybe 15. I almost killed my wife. It was my fault but still the $3000 safety package failed. Almost catastrophically.

TIRES:SIDEWALL

Potential Consequences:

Tire pressure warning came on on highway and FL tire went flat in seconds, pulled over to the shoulder. Tire had ruptured sidewall and apparent dry-rot. Tire shop checked all other 4 tires and all show clear signs of dry rot (cracked rubber) on side wall. ContiProContact P215/55 R18, failed tire DOT LMOA BN7 0718. Other tires 1x same DOT and 2x : LMOA BN7 0618. Tires are OEM, original with vehicle purchase. Vehicle mileage 44220. Replaced all 4 tires already but have pictures of all original.

Corrective Action:

Defect Description:

SUSPENSION

Potential Consequences:

Catastrophic control arm failure. The part is available for inspection. Problem confirmed by certified technician at Brake Master repair shop in Santa Fe NM. No visible damage to control arm prior to catastrophic part failure from apparent metal fatigue. Only 37,000 miles on this 2019 Encore. There were no indications of this problem prior to the part failure. The vehicle began making a loud clunking noise and heavy physical clunk when the brakes were applied. Because of the possible safety concerns I had the vehicle towed to the Brake Master facility. Upon inspection the control arm was seen to be broken in two. I took the problem part to the Octane GMC/Buick dealership in Santa Fe where the vehicle was purchased new and showed the part to one of the mechanics who informed me that he had seen this happen before. As this is a relatively small dealership I thought that it was significant that this mechanic had seen this failure previously. Got me wondering if GM is having this problem not only with the Buick Encore but possibly with its twin in the Chevrolet product line. Repair estimate from Brake Master [XXX], $634.91. Service advisor 3717-Caesar Sanchez Description of damage: Front Right control arm broken-ripped apart. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Defect Description:

SERVICE BRAKES

Potential Consequences:

When I apply brakes the car accelerates instead of stopping. This occurs randomly and not all the time. It has occurred at traffic lights or when I am at a location to park the suv. I was in a accident in May which caused damages to another car. I reported this to GM back in May of this year and they stated that they sent a engineer to inspect the car and could not find anything wrong. at that time the car had been towed to the dealership. I went and picked the car up It drove fine for a while and now its back doing the same thing again. It will run thru red lights, stop signs and doesn't stop when I pull into parking spaces, this is very dangerous, I am getting the run around with General motors. I need some one's help before someone gets injured or killed with this vehicle. I hope its not me.

I went and picked the car up It drove fine for a while and now its back doing the same thing again. When I apply brakes the car accelerates instead of stopping. This occurs randomly and not all the time. It has occurred at traffic lights or when I am at a location to park the suv. On Wednesday June 28th, 2023, I was returning home to Columbus, NC from Charlotte, NC. I was travelling on Hwy. 74 and on the west side of Shelby my 2019 Buick Encore started sputtering and did not have any pick up. I stopped at Friendly Chevrolet in Forest City, NC, just off Hwy. 74 and they tested and said I had a mis-firing engine and should not drive due to safety issues. They could not fix as it is under Buick warranty and they are not a Buick dealer. I slowly drove the 20 miles home and feared it would stop at any time. Fred Anderson Chevrolet, where I purchased the car in 2020, is located in Greer, SC. I am still under full warranty so it was towed there and is still there. This was a very scary situation, as I was in the middle of nowhere. I am an 80 year old female and was very anxious as to what was going on and I still owe $10,000, on the car and fear it may have more major problems before the warranty expires in November 2023.
