General Motors (GM) is recalling certain 2019-2021 GMC Sierra 1500 and Silverado 1500 vehicles equipped with certain accessory road tires and a 17" spare tire. The 17" spare tire provided with the vehicle is not compatible for use with the accessory wheels, which can cause the anti-lock brake system (ABS) to not function properly under certain conditions.

This software has an error, and as a result, the vehicle's electronic brake assist may be disabled. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 126, "Electronic Stability Control" and 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Cadillac CT6, and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles. Due to an Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) software error, the vehicle's Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Antilock Brake System (ABS) may become disabled. Furthermore, if this specific error occurs, the vehicle's diagnostics will not illuminate the instrument cluster ESC and ABS malfunction warning lights. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 126, "Electronic Stability Control" and 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."

I BOUGHT THE 1ST TRUCK IN DECEMBER. THE BRAKES FAILED ON ORANGE BLOSSOM TRAIL IN ORLANDO. BRAKES WOULD NOT STOP VEHICLE AND THE DASH LIGHT UP LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT NEEDED A MASTER CYLINDER BUT COULD NOT GET IT BECAUSE CHEVY WAS ON STRIKE. I TRADED IN AND GOT A SECOND VEHICLE. THEY DID THE RECALL ON IT BEFORE I TOOK IT AND THEN THE BRAKES FAILED SO I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER. THEY DID AN UPDATE ON IT AND I LEFT WITH IT THE SAME DAY. ABOUT A MONTH LATER THE BRAKES FAILED... FIRST TIME ON 436 IN ORLANDO FLORIDA I WAS BEHIND A SCHOOL BUS AND THEY WENT OUT. LUCKILY I WAS FAR ENOUGH BEHIND IT I COULD GET PULLED OVER. I WAS NOT GOING FAST, NOR IN TRAFFIC, BUT THE FACT REMAINS I HAD NO BRAKES, AGAIN! THIS ISSUE WAS 'FIXED' TWO MONTHS EARLIER IN ANOTHER RECALL FOR THE BRAKES. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME I LOST THE ABILITY TO BRAKE, BUT THIS WILL BE THE LAST TIME. THIS VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE RECALLED IN ITS ENTIRETY, I MEAN TAKEN OFF THE STREETS. IT'S NOT JUST THE DRIVERS OF THE TRUCK WHO ARE IN DANGER, OTHER DRIVERS, PEDESTRIANS, BICYCLISTS ARE ALSO IN DANGER. A FATALITY IS IMMINENT BUT I ASK THE NHTSA HOW MANY FATALITIES BEFORE THIS DANGEROUS VEHICLE IS TAKEN OFF THE ROAD?
