Safety Issue:

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2021-2024 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, and Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles equipped with a 6.2L V8 gas engine. The connecting rod and/or crankshaft engine components may have manufacturing defects that can lead to engine damage and engine failure.

Potential Risk:
Engine failure increases the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will inspect the engine, and as necessary, repair or replace the engine. For vehicles that pass inspection, dealers will add higher viscosity oil, install 6 oil fill cap, replace the oil filter, and update the owner's manual. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 6, 2025. Safety Issue:

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020-2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, 2500, 3500, GMC Sierra 1500, 2500, 3500, 2021 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles equipped with diesel engines. The transmission control valve may fail and cause the rear wheels to lock-up.

Potential Risk:
Rear wheel lock-up can increase the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will install new transmission control module software, free of charge. GM will provide a special coverage program to cover the repair of transmissions that are identified by the remedy software as containing a defective control valve. Owner notification letters were mailed December 12, 2024. Safety Issue:

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020-2023 Cadillac CT4 and CT5; 2021-2023 Buick Envision; and 2022-2023 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles. The daytime running lights (DRLs) may not deactivate when the headlights are on. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Potential Risk:
DRLs that do not deactivate as intended may result in a glare, reducing visibility, and increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
The body control module software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 23, 2023. Safety Issue:

General Motors, LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 vehicles. The sensing diagnostic module (SDM) was left in manufacturing mode and not activated at the assembly plant prior to shipment. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Potential Risk:
An SDM in manufacturing mode will not deploy the vehicle's air bags in a crash, increasing the risk of occupant injury.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers returned the vehicles to the GM assembly plant and the sensing diagnostic modules were activated. The vehicles had not been sold from dealer inventory and therefore no owner letters will be mailed. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. Safety Issue:

General Motors (GM) has decided that certain 2022 model year Chevrolet Silverado, and GMC Sierra vehicles equipped with an accessory sport bar. The accessory sport bar contains a high-mounted brake light that may not function. In addition, it may block the vehicle's existing high-mounted brake light. As such, these vehicles may fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment."

Potential Risk:
An inoperative high-mounted brake light can reduce visibility to other drivers and increase the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will inspect the installation of the accessory bar and provide the correct vehicle wiring, if necessary, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters advising owners of the safety risk were mailed on August 10, 2022. Owner notification letters were mailed on January 27, 2023. POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

Since new, this vehicle has had two unresolved safety issues. One of which being the failure of a FMVSS 111 required system - rear vision camera. The two defects are: 1. Service 4WD warning message and inability to use 4WD in inclement weather. This has caused safety concerns for my wife and I when traveling in the winter. 2. Failure of the FMVSS 111 required rear view camera system when in reverse. The display screen goes blank with an error message intermittently when in reverse.  Not being able to see behind the vehicle while in reverse has raised safety concerns by both my wife and I in numerous parking situations. The Dealer (Al Serra Chevrolet Grand Blanc MI) has attempted warranty repairs on both issues on 4 service visits: Delivery Date 9/27/2022 1st repair 1/12/2023 2nd repair 11/27/2023 3rd repair 12/19/2023 4th repair 2/27/2023 GM Customer Assistance Case 9-12089878168 2/27/2024 Certified Letter to GM notifying of intent to file for Lemon Law Relief, Final Repair attempt. All 4 repair attempts included the 4WD system failure as well as the Rear View Camera system failure. Many components have been replaced. along with many reprograming attempts of both systems. Both problems return after the Dealer attempts a repair, and have not been successfully repaired to date. The problems first appeared on 1/12/2023. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

The sound will increase to max volume and I am unable to lower the sound, this has happened numerous times while driving and has also happened while on major freeways. This is a very frightening event when I am driving by myself and even more when I am with my family. This has been reported to the dealer several times but it continues to happen. Today it happened in a parking lot so luckily I could stop, turn the vehicle off, open the door, and turn it back in. The problem persisted after shutting the truck off several times. I finally had to let my phone connect, open Apple Music, played a song and paused it so I could have no sound.

Corrective Action:

“Service Trailer Brake System” alert on info center and Trailer Brake Contol lights flickering since purchase February 2022 Trailer brakes intermittently do not work while towing 29’ camper trailer. SERVICE BRAKES

Potential Consequences:

Started my truck and drove off. 10 seconds later all of the lights on instrument cluster came on and displayed steering assist reduced the. It said service brake assist. My brakes weee very spongy and hardly worked luckily I was only driving 20 mph and no one was in front of me. I had to disconnect battery and reconnect to fix the problem. What if I was on the highway doing 70 mph and had to hit my brakes suddenly. Someone or multiple people could have been injured. This truck has 13,000 miles on and it’s a year old. I have ready many reports online of this happening in earlier models. How can car manufactures get away with this ?

Potential Consequences:

Engine stalled at highway speed 50mpr, disabled brakes, and steering. I coasted to a stop with absolutely no power. Engine would not restart for 2 minutes. No Engine lights or codes present but warning on dash read service trailer brake system disabled. I drifted to a stop with no brakes at all or power steering. We were not hauling any trailers and no trailer was connected. This was the scariest event I've ever experienced driving. Very unhappy when they're was no reason to stall. Gas tank was half full.

We were not hauling any trailers and no trailer was connected. This was the scariest event I've ever experienced driving. Very unhappy when they're was no reason to stall. Gas tank was half full.
