ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

Engine seized at 89,872 miles. Spun rod bearings, Spent a Month and a half waiting for a new motor. Motor was replaced and engine seized again at 10,000 miles. I had extended warranty that at first denied the claim but wound up paying. When the Motor seized a second time I traded the vehicle in. But at a significant cost to me as I would have kept that vehicle if it hadn't of had the Motor issues.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Potential Consequences:

My vehicle has 43K miles and I just got a p1098 code. I took it to a local mechanic and they have determined that the Engine coolant Control Valve Position Sensor is not functioning. This is causing the fan to run at 100% at all times. I am also getting a message on the dash stating that the vehicle is in reduced acceleration mode. When doing my research I have found that this part is failing on multiple Silverado's. The part is on national back order and the dealership won't answer any questions regarding warranty.

POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

I was driving the truck and it just stopped moving like the vehicle was in neutral. My safety really wasnt put at risk, other then I couldn't move out of the way of other traffic The truck is at simmons and rockwell dealership waiting to be fixed due to the part being on backorder. My check engine light was on but when the garage I usually take my vehicles to put it on a machine to tell them what was wrong with it. It came up with a different issue then the light went out. I just got it back from the garage that same day the control valve went. The garage put it back on the machine and then it said transmission issues. I then had it towed to the dealership. Where the truck is now waiting to be fixed. Thankfully this is covered under my powertrain warranty. I just wanted to report this because I seen alot of the same year different motor chevrolet trucks were recalled for this same part. I just bought this truck less then 3 months ago I am thankful for the warranty. If this is a common issue hopefully me reporting mine saves someone in the future. Thank you

ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

On March 29, 2025, I was driving my 2022 ZR2 approximately 55mph around a winding road when the vehicle suddenly shut down. No warning lights or other indicators alerted me to impending failure. My 81-year-old mother was in the truck with me at the time. By the grace of God I was able to get the truck pulled over. The vehicle was towed to the dealership where it was diagnosed with engine seized. I have a wife and almost 4 year old daughter. Now that I know about this issue and am reading all of the reports, I no longer trust this truck with my family's lives. We are single income and this has hit us financially.

POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

Within the last couple of days, my truck went into limp home mode 3 times, "Reduced Acceleration Drive with Care", check engine light on, right after the truck jerked a few times while it was shifting. Each time the message went away after a re-start but the check engine light was still on. Now the truck also has another message, "Service Transmission Now unable to shift soon". again after the truck jerking while the trans was shifting. I only have 15,781 miles on the truck and it is less than 3 years old.

Defect Description:

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

When shut off and put in park it will not allow the truck to turn all they way off because it says it’s not in park. I’ve read that there has been several issues with this is the dealer charges anywhere between $900-$1500 to attempt to fix but people are saying it doesn’t. Also there is no dip stick to check transmission fluid. And apparently even ase certified mechanics can’t check the fluid levels

ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

Vehicle: 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Trail Boss, 6.2L V8 L87 engine Date of Incident: Friday, April 19, 2025 Mileage at Time of Failure: ~30,000 miles Location: Route 1 (high-traffic highway) While driving at highway speed, the vehicle suddenly shut down without warning. The RPMs dropped to zero, and I had to quickly merge across lanes with no engine power, creating a serious safety risk to myself and other drivers. There were no warning lights, sounds, or prior symptoms before the failure. I had the truck towed at my own expense to a trusted mechanic, who confirmed that the engine had seized. It has since been transferred to a certified GM dealership for teardown and repair. This failure appears consistent with ongoing reports and an active NHTSA investigation into the 6.2L V8 L87 engine, specifically related to oil pump failure and oversized lifter bores, which can cause catastrophic engine failure without warning. I am concerned about the future reliability of this vehicle, especially since powertrain warranty coverage is limited. Had I known about these known engine issues, I would not have purchased this vehicle. I will be notifying my bank, which holds the lien, as this situation also impacts the value and security of their asset. I intend to request part numbers and full documentation from the dealership to ensure the engine is not replaced with the same potentially defective components.
