POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
The transmissions stopped working while my wife was driving. The car stopped in the intersection. She was able to shut it off and it restarted so that she could pull into a parking lot. Car was towed to the dealer. The car has 74,000 miles on it and we were told it needs a new transmission and that it would cost $6900 to repair. I called GM and filed a claim with them in hopes they would offer some assistance. I was told nothing could be done. I have since spoke to several repair shops and checked the internet and have found out that it seems GM is having this problem often, for the years 2015-2017 for the Tahoe, Yukon, and Silverado.

SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC
Potential Consequences:
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving at 75 MPH, several unknown warning lights flashed on the instrument panel, and the vehicle briefly shut off, then restarted while still in motion. Later, while driving at 45 MPH and attempting to complete a turn, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The contact was unable to pull to the shoulder of the roadway, but the vehicle was able to restart. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The stability control warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed failures with the alternator and transmission. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V761000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic, Service Brakes, Electronic Stability Control), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Potential Consequences:
Just over 115,xxx miles and the transmission is shuddering, difficulty with taking off, RPMs are not steady, delayed acceleration due to sputtering. When at signal light it acts as if it is not going to take off, which could cause other vehicles to rear end my vehicle. While on highway going speed limit these same symptoms occur which could cause multiple vehicle crashes. No service engine lights have come on, when attached to portable code reader, no codes were coming up. Vehicle has been serviced numerous time without concern, fluids were changed at recommended mileage. Problem has been confirmed by independent service center that the torque converter clutch is malfunctioning. Transmission is automatic, 6 spd, HMD, 6L-80

Potential Consequences:
All of a sudden my transmission (6 speed) started slipping. No abuse /drag racing lol. Just normal driving. I limped into my local dealer and they said the transmission was “shot” and that they couldn’t let m drive it home. Also the transmission mechanic was outside smoking and I vape so I started a conversation with him about these 6 sp transmissions and he said “ I can’t count how many I’ve replaced” “ even with less than 80k miles. This is negligent at the least by Chevrolet to intstall dangerous and threatening transmissions. Bad Chevy BAD!

Potential Consequences:
2017 Chevrolet Tahoe Brake Booster Vacuum Pump failed and had to be replaced. Booster sensor as well at cost of $1,493.22. Our vehicle almost hit another car in line for pre-school with children around and almost hit our garage doors due to this issue. Full recall in Canada but not USA? Why? "The amount of vacuum created by the vacuum pump may decrease over time. As the vacuum level drops, the brake assist decreases, increasing braking effort, extending the distance required to stop the vehicle, thereby increasing the risk of a crash"

Additional Notes:
2017 Chevrolet Tahoe Brake Booster Vacuum Pump failed and had to be replaced. Booster sensor as well at cost of $1,493.22. Our vehicle almost hit another car in line for pre-school with children around and almost hit our garage doors due to this issue. Full recall in Canada but not USA? Why? "The amount of vacuum created by the vacuum pump may decrease over time. As the vacuum level drops, the brake assist decreases, increasing braking effort, extending the distance required to stop the vehicle, thereby increasing the risk of a crash"

Defect Description:
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
The contact's brother owns a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the message "Reduced Engine Power" was displayed. Additionally, the vehicle decelerated to 20 MPH. The contact was able to pull to the side of the road. The contact stated that he turned on the hazards lights and continued driving 20 MPH. The contact stated that upon arriving to his residence, he connected an OBD reader to the vehicle and read diagnostic code P2138, which indicated an accelerator pedal sensor failure. The contact stated that he replaced the part himself; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that there was water leaking inside the vehicle from the roof antenna mounting point, which caused the driver's side fuse box to rust, causing electrical failures. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.
