The truck had an airbag malfunction notice on the information center. We took the truck to the dealer and was told that it was an electrical problem with the airbags. That the only way to have it covered under warranty was for the vehicle to be under the bumper to bumper warranty. The truck at the time the mileage was 39844. We had the truck fixed since it was a safety issue. It cost $420+ to fix it. We feel that it should have been covered due to a safety issue.

ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

Vehicle is sputtering and jerking while driving When slowing to a stop vehicles engine will shut off. I do know that the 2021 Tahoe has recalls on the fuel pump issues but not sure why my vin number isn’t covered under this recall. This is a 2 year old vehicle and already has recalls on this year model on its fuel pump. At this point it is barely driveable and is a danger for myself and my family to drive.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

While sitting at a stop sign the vehicle began to stall. I was able to drive 50 feet and it died in the road. The Tahoe is not getting fuel to start. Starter continues to try and engage upon start but the vehicle never engage. The fuel pump drive module seems to be an issue. I can't get the car out of park to have it towed to the Chevrolet dealership. This is consistent with other Tahoe recall vehicles having the same issue.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

Potential Consequences:

at 13,540 miles, the drivers headlight started pointing to the ground instead of out front of the car. The headlight adjuster screw (inside the complete headlight assembly) had failed and was replaced under warranty. Then again at 35,250 mile the same thing happened again. Dealer claims GM will not do a goodwill warranty and wants $350-400 to take the headlight assembly off he car and send pictures to GM to see if GM will assist with replacement costs. Obviously this is a manufacturing defect or quality control issue. As 90% of my driving is done at night, it is unsafe for me to drive this vehicle at night.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

Fuel Pump Module malfunctioned while driving, causing vehicle to shut down in middle of street. Very alarming when car died while driving, fortunately was not driving at a high speed or on a busy street/highway and was able to move to an exit lane without incident since no shoulder on street, did cause quite a traffic jam (very stressful). Vehicle was towed to dealership after could not be jumped started. Dealership confirmed faulty fuel pump module. Currently at dealership & will be for a while due to part backlog. Received no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms prior to this incident.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

On Wednesday,Sept20 2023 I was traveling eastbound in the passing Lane on interstate 90 in New York when my Chevy tahoes motor began shaking violently, chugging, and losing power. The check engine light illuminated. The engine stalled as I frantically tried to move to the berm. There is a lot of large semi traffic on that road and I had a difficult time maneuvering safely without power to get onto the side of the road. I was unable to move completely into what I felt to be a safe area. I continued to try to start the motor after about 10 minutes I was finally able to get it started and move it to an exit where it was towed to community Chevrolet in Meadville Pennsylvania. The Chevy dealer at this point has told me it is a fuel pump problem and they are on back order and there is a strike by the auto workers. They are unsure as to when I can have this problem remedied with the parts that are needed.

SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM

Potential Consequences:

The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while turning left or right, there was a grinding and scratching sound coming from underneath the front-end of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed and the contact was informed that the wheel was rubbing against the wheel well. The dealer completed a tire adjustment. The contact noticed over time that the tread on the front tires had been wearing very quickly. The vehicle was returned to the dealer who determined that the lower control arms had failed. The lower control arms were replaced, and the front wheels were re-aligned. The failure persisted causing the contact to have the wheels aligned 6 to 8 times. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 32,000.

Potential Consequences:

Purchased a 2021 Tahoe in late 2020 - May of 2021 the car started leaking water during a rain storm into the main cabin. Brought it to the dealership and they couldn't find any issues. Fast-forward to 2023 and it happened again in May and June. Brought the car to dealership and was told that the sunroof drains were clogged and it's a maintenance issue. I contacted GM and after about 2 months they had a field tech look at it....found that it wasn't a maintenance issue but a sunroof drainage tube that was installed incorrectly. I received an email saying that they would replace the tube and front carpet but I need to pay 50% of the bill. All the carpets and roof liner have been affected by the leaking and the car smells like mildew. I would expect them to at least replace everything and pay 100%. If they were responsible they would take the car and replace it with a new car for me. I purchased a $65,000+ vehicle with a factory defect that has caused water leaking into the car and i don't know if there will be future issues with electrical or mold.

ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

Wife was driving home from work, vehicle started with no issues and she did not notice anything abnormal as she started her commute home, roughly 20 minute commute. She noticed the vehicle was vibrating, mildly at first and progressively getting worse. When she came to a stop at red light, she noticed the vibrating was worse at idle. She did not note any warning or cautions, she contacted me, i advised her to attempt to make it home. Once the light turned green, she accelerated and noticed the vehicle smoking, she pulled over into a parking lot, parked and shut it off. By this time all the warning in vehicle were flashing, battery and oil pressure gauges were fluctuating, check engine light was flashing, traction control, and other adaptive sensors i.e. blind spot, HUD where signals were displayed as off or not functioning. I was able to drive the vehicle to .4 miles to the dealership service center where we purchased the vehicle from in 2021 brand new off the lot. This occurred on 6 September 2023, still awaiting final diagnostic from from service department. They think its the lifter on the engine that failed, but they have disassemble engine to make exact determination. Once I receive diagnostic/invoice details I can provide that, luckily vehicle is still under warranty.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

We were driving down the road and as I tried to accelerate the car would not go. Then I realized the car said push to start. My husband tried to push the neutral button and told me to restart it but I said you have to push the brake. All this is happening as we are coasting down a main road with speed limits of 55mph and my family is in the vehicle (including 2 toddlers in the back seat). Once we coast to a gravel area off the road I push the brakes and try to restart. My dash goes all black and I try to restart. It tells me battery low push to start. The starter engages and stays engaged until I push the start button again to turn off. The screen tells me it is shutting down functions to save battery. The check engine light is on. We tried 3x with same results. Finally we get out and my parents come to us. Within 15 mins of the initial incident, my husband and dad get in and start my vehicle. My dad suspected the fuel pump. The fuel was right under 1/4 tank but not low enough for the fuel light to be on. They drove to the fuel station, approximately 2 miles away, filled up the tank and drove it to an auto parts store who connected it to a diagnostic machine and it read fuel pump. They drove it back to my home, approximately 2 more miles. The check engine light is still on. I will call the dealership tomorrow. The vehicle has 23,000 miles and is still under manufacturer warranty.
