Defect Description:
ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
This is the second engine I’ve had replaced since I bought the vehicle in December 21, 2023. The first engine failed in August of 2022 while I was driving on the highway. The vehicle began to smoke and shut down while I was driving on the highway. The vehicle shut down and I had to use the current momentum of the vehicle to pull over to the shoulder. The vehicle would not come out of gear and would not restart. I complained of transmission problems ever since the engine was replaced. The service department escalated the concerns to the GM engineers who never gave directions to check the transmission fluid or physically check the transmission. January 24 of this year I was on the highway driving to work when the vehicle again shut down. The dash stated restart the vehicle. While in motion the vehicle was trying to shift to neutral. I informed the dealer of this message and they claim they took note of it. With the vehicle not being able to start or move out of gear the tow truck had to drag the vehicle onto the bed of the tow truck. This also occurred on the first engine failure as well.

Defect Description:
FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
My wife was driving our vehicle and had (fortunately) just turned onto our quiet street. As she was heading towards our driveway, the car turned off. We couldn’t figure out the issue. After paying for a tow to Sterling Chevrolet in Mount Pleasant, SC, we learned that the fuel pump system had died. This was at 36,071 miles (71 miles over our warranty). We were then told that there had not been a safety recall on the fuel system for our 2021 Tahoe z71. It wasn’t until later that we learned there HAD been a recall and I’m not sure how to handle this. The recall occurred before we took possession of the vehicle (8 months before), thus we were never notified. Per the maintenance records, the fuel system had never been repaired nor was a part replaced on this vehicle. Thus, I believe our vehicle would roll up under this recall and we should be reimbursed for the repair expense.

AIR BAGS
Potential Consequences:
The airbags failed to deploy in my 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe after being involved in an accident where another vehicle t-boned my vehicle on the passenger side front end to rear end causing severe damage and pushing my vehicle with great force. A police report was taken by officers that responded to the traffic accident. A claim was filed with my auto insurance and my 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe is currently being repaired as it was not deemed a total loss. Myself and my passengers were injured and received and continue receiving medical treatment for our injuries; our safety was definitely placed at risk. Before being involved in this accident, warning alerts/lamps would appear on the vehicle’s dashboard indicating to “service the safety restraint system” and also to “open then close passenger window” which in turn led me to take the vehicle in for service however the dealer said it could not be duplicated nor did the computer show any alerts. After the accident, I Contacted General Motors and filed a claim for the non deployment of the airbags, they in turn are conducting their investigation.

Additional Notes:
The airbags failed to deploy in my 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe after being involved in an accident where another vehicle t-boned my vehicle on the passenger side front end to rear end causing severe damage and pushing my vehicle with great force. A police report was taken by officers that responded to the traffic accident. Defect Description:
SERVICE BRAKES
Potential Consequences:
I purchased a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe SSV (Police Model) and have been hearing a high pitch squeal noise at low speeds while I’m breaking. The vehicle started making the noise since mile 50. I took my vehicle to the dealership on 03/14/2022 for this complaint (vehicle had 10,860 miles at that time). Parkway Chevrolet informed me that Chevrolet had authorized a one time replacement of the rotors and break pads as a courtesy but the noise would come back and there was nothing they could do to fix the problem. The service advisor at Parkway Chevrolet further advised me that the braking system on my vehicle was meant for stopping power and not luxury. The squeal noise started back before I was able to drive the vehicle back to my house. Within the last couple of weeks my vehicle started making a rubbing noise along with the high pitch squeal so I took the vehicle to Buckalew Chevrolet and they have informed me that the vehicle needs new break pads at 35,000 miles. While I was at the dealership they looked up the service history of my vehicle and informed me that Parkway Chevrolet only turned the front rotors on 3/14/22 and the braking system was never actually replaced. I was wondering if my vehicle could be considered as part of the recall that was issued under Bulletin # 22-NA-165 that was issued in May 2023. Thank you for your consideration.

Defect Description:
FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
The fuel pump power control module failed. We were driving on the interstate going around 75mph with traffic. The car suddenly lost power dropped to 60, 40, 20 in 5 seconds. We barley made if off the hwy`s left side when the Tahoe died. Would not start back up and locked in park. Had to be towed on a flat bed dragged up the bed and brought to the Chevy dealer who confirmed the fuel pump power control module failed and replaced under warranty. We have a 2021 Tahoe, there is a recall for this part but it did not include our vin. Really scary breakdown and could have been hit by another car.

ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
The failed component was reported to be the Coolant Surge Tank. This component cracked and begin to leak engine coolant causing the vehicle to overheat and become undrivable. This failure also lead the inoperability of the heating system inside the cabin of the vehicle. The failure of this component is widespread knowledge in the Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban and GMC Yukon ownership community. In some cases dealerships are purposely marking up the cost of replacement components due to the scarcity caused by this failure and production issue within GM. The only symptoms of this issue were overheating and inoperable cabin heater. No warning lights or messages were displayed.
