General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Chevrolet Trax vehicles. A joint in one or both of the front lower control arms may have been improperly welded. An improperly welded joint may break, resulting in the partial separation of the lower control arm from the vehicle.

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse and Chevrolet Spark EV, Caprice PPV and SS vehicles, 2014-2017 Buick Encore and Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles, 2015-2016 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Trax, Suburban and Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL vehicles, and 2015-2017 GMC Sierra HD 2500 and 3500 vehicles. While being previously remedied for recall 16V-651, the affected vehicles may not have received the complete software update necessary to remedy the recall condition. Without the update, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test. During this test, deployment of the frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners would not occur in the event of a crash.

The affected radios may fail to provide an audible warning chime when the driver fails to fasten their seatbelt or if the driver leaves the key in the ignition. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 208 "Occupant Crash Protection" and 114 "Theft Protection."

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET TRAX. WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE ACROSS THE STREET RAN THEIR STOP SIGN AT 45 MPH AND CRASHED HEAD ON INTO THE CONTACT'S FRONT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED LONG TERM BACK INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE PARTY THAT CRASHED INTO THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED. IT WAS UNKNOWN IF A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED THE CONTACTS RESIDENCE AND THEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRAME, GRILL, A-FRAME, HOOD, AND A CONTROL ARM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE CRASH WAS NOT IN RELATION ANY OPEN RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000.

GOT THIS VEHICLE ON 07/23/2016, THE VEHICLE HAD MAJOR ISSUES UNTIL 09/2018. IN SEPTEMBER 2018 I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE ORIGINAL LOT TO HAVE IT INSPECTED AS WHEN SWITCHING THE FAN FOR THE A/C FROM 3 TO 4 ON THE BLOWER MOTOR SETTINGS STOPPED WORKING. MY DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE ORIGINAL BLOWER MOTOR. ALONG WITH THAT I WAS HAVING THE ISSUES OF THE CENTER CONSOLE (RADIO UNIT) AND THE DASH (WHERE THE SPEED, MILEAGE, ETC... IS) WOULD GO OUT WILL DRIVING OR NOT TURN ON AT ALL AND THE BACK UP CAMERA WOULDN'T TURN ON GO. THEY RE-INSTALLED THE COMPUTER SOFTWARE AND UPDATED THE SYSTEM AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. IN 02/2019 I STARTED HAVING THE SAME ISSUES, BACK UP CAMERA AND CENTER CONSOLE NOT WORKING, AND DASH TURNING OFF AND NOT COMING ON. ALSO WHEN I TOOK THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION AND GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND LOCKED THE DOOR AND THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING. THE RADIO WAS STILL PLAYING AND THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NO KEY IN THE IGNITION AND IT WAS NOT REMOTE STARTED. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THAT MORNING TO BRING THE CAR IN THAT NIGHT FOR SERVICE THE NEXT DAY. THEY KEPT THE TRAX FOR ROUGHLY 1 WEEK. THE INSTALLED A NEW RADIO, RE-FLASHED AND UPDATED THE COMPUTER, AND RE-INSTALLED THE BACK UP CAMERA SOFTWARE. I PICKED THE CAR UP DROVE ROUGHLY 3 MILES AND BROUGHT IT BACK SAME HOUR DUE TO IT HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. THEY KEPT IT ANOTHER 3 DAYS AND I GOT IT BACK AFTER ABOUT 2 WEEKS OF WORK AT THE DEALERSHIP. AS OF 06/11/19 I HAD TO TAKE THE CAR BACK IN FOR THE SAME ISSUES: DASH GOING OUT, RADIO GOING OUT, BACK UP CAMERA NOT WORKING, AND THE TRAX STILL RUNNING WITH NO KEY IN THE IGNITION. I CALLED ON 06/12/19 THEY STATED THE CAR WOULD NOT COMMUNICATE WITH THE DIAGNOSTICS COMPUTER AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE RADIO THEY INSTALLED 4 MONTHS AGO. PART WAS ORDERED AND OVER-NIGHTED BUT NEVER CAME IN ON 06/12/19. WAITING TO SEE IF I CAN RETURN THIS LEMON OF A CAR NOW.

TOOK IT TO 1 DEALER WHO KEEPS IT FOR 4 WEEKS WHEN THEY FIGURE IT'S A MODULE. I BROUGHT IT TO MY REGULAR MECHANIC WHO HAS A RELATIONSHIP WITH ANOTHER CHEVY DEALER SO I COULD SAVE ON LABOR, THEY HAVE IT FOR ANOTHER 4 WEEKS. AND STILL WITH THE SAVINGS, IT COST ME $1120 FOR THIS REPAIR ON TOP OF THE $218 I PAID FOR THE ORIGINAL DIAGNOSTIC. I FINALLY GET THE CAR BACK, HAVE IT FOR A DAY AND IT'S THE SAME PROBLEM! THEY REPLACED THE BATTERY, AND STILL THE PROBLEM IS STILL OCCURRING AND THE DEALER CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG. THIS IS CHEVY'S [XXX] PRODUCT! NOTHING IN THE NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR OF CAR OWNERSHIP SHOULD HAVE ME SHELLING OUT ALL THIS MONEY WHEN I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW AND HAVE HAD IT FOR 3 1/2 YEARS. I'VE MADE 3 CAR PAYMENTS IN THE LAST 90 DAYS AND STILL DON'T HAVE A CAR TO DRIVE. I WILL NEVER BUY A CHEVY AGAIN! CHEVY SUCKS. BOUGHT MY 2016 CHEVY TRAX IN SEPTEMBER 2015. IT'S BEEN WELL MAINTAINED. AT THE 59,000 MILE MARK, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP AND THE ENGINE POWERS DOWN WITH NO WARNING, ESC LIGHTS COMES ON AND THE CAR LOSES ACCELERATION. TOOK IT TO 1 DEALER WHO KEEPS IT FOR 4 WEEKS WHEN THEY FIGURE IT'S A MODULE. I BROUGHT IT TO MY REGULAR MECHANIC WHO HAS A RELATIONSHIP WITH ANOTHER CHEVY DEALER SO I COULD SAVE ON LABOR, THEY HAVE IT FOR ANOTHER 4 WEEKS. AND STILL WITH THE SAVINGS, IT COST ME $1120 FOR THIS REPAIR ON TOP OF THE $218 I PAID FOR THE ORIGINAL DIAGNOSTIC. I FINALLY GET THE CAR BACK, HAVE IT FOR A DAY AND IT'S THE SAME PROBLEM!
