Safety Issue:

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Chevrolet Trax vehicles. A joint in one or both of the front lower control arms may have been improperly welded. An improperly welded joint may break, resulting in the partial separation of the lower control arm from the vehicle.

Potential Risk:
A partial separation of the lower-control arm from the vehicle could cause the attached front wheel to toe outward, impacting the vehicle's handling and steering and increasing the risk of crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the left and right front lower-control arms, replacing them as necessary, free of charge. The recall began November 6, 2019. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is A192261870.

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse and Chevrolet Spark EV, Caprice PPV and SS vehicles, 2014-2017 Buick Encore and Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 vehicles, 2015-2016 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Tahoe, Trax, Suburban and Silverado 2500 and 3500 and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL vehicles, and 2015-2017 GMC Sierra HD 2500 and 3500 vehicles. While being previously remedied for recall 16V-651, the affected vehicles may not have received the complete software update necessary to remedy the recall condition. Without the update, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test. During this test, deployment of the frontal air bags and the seat belt pretensioners would not occur in the event of a crash.

Potential Risk:
A failure of the front air bags or seat belt pretensioners to deploy in the event of a crash necessitating deployment increases the risk of injury to the driver and front passenger.
FREE Recall Solution:
GM will notify owners, and dealers will reflash the SDM software. Vehicles that have had a previous air bag deployment will have the SDM replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2017. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015-2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD, 3500 HD, Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Sierra 2500 HD and 3500 HD, GMC Yukon, GMC Yukon XL, Cadillac Escalade and Cadillac Escalade ESV vehicles and 2014-2017 Chevrolet Corvette, Silverado 1500, Trax, Caprice Police Pursuit Vehicle, GMC Sierra 1500, Buick Encore, and 2014-2016 Buick Lacrosse, Chevrolet Spark EV and SS vehicles. In the affected vehicles, certain driving conditions may cause the air bag sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software to activate a diagnostic test. Safety Issue:

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Chevrolet Sonic and Trax, and 2013-2015 Spark vehicles equipped with a Bring Your Own Media radio. The affected radios may fail to provide an audible warning chime when the driver fails to fasten their seatbelt or if the driver leaves the key in the ignition. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 208 "Occupant Crash Protection" and 114 "Theft Protection."

Potential Risk:
Without audible indicators, the driver may not fasten their seatbelt, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
GM will notify owners, and dealers will update the radio software, free of charge. The recall began on July 22, 2016. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is 45340.

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2013-2016 Chevrolet Sonic and Trax vehicles and 2013-2015 Chevrolet Spark vehicles equipped with a Bring Your Own Media radio. The affected radios may fail to provide an audible warning chime when the driver, after turning off the ignition and leaving the key in the cylinder, waits 10 minutes or longer to open the door. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 114 "Theft Protection."

Potential Risk:
Without audible indicators, the driver may leave the key in the ignition, increasing the risk of theft.
FREE Recall Solution:
GM will notify owners, and dealers will update the radio software, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is 17130.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET TRAX. WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE ACROSS THE STREET RAN THEIR STOP SIGN AT 45 MPH AND CRASHED HEAD ON INTO THE CONTACT'S FRONT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED LONG TERM BACK INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE PARTY THAT CRASHED INTO THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED. IT WAS UNKNOWN IF A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED THE CONTACTS RESIDENCE AND THEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRAME, GRILL, A-FRAME, HOOD, AND A CONTROL ARM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE CRASH WAS NOT IN RELATION ANY OPEN RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000.

GOT THIS VEHICLE ON 07/23/2016, THE VEHICLE HAD MAJOR ISSUES UNTIL 09/2018. IN SEPTEMBER 2018 I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE ORIGINAL LOT TO HAVE IT INSPECTED AS WHEN SWITCHING THE FAN FOR THE A/C FROM 3 TO 4 ON THE BLOWER MOTOR SETTINGS STOPPED WORKING. MY DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE ORIGINAL BLOWER MOTOR. ALONG WITH THAT I WAS HAVING THE ISSUES OF THE CENTER CONSOLE (RADIO UNIT) AND THE DASH (WHERE THE SPEED, MILEAGE, ETC... IS) WOULD GO OUT WILL DRIVING OR NOT TURN ON AT ALL AND THE BACK UP CAMERA WOULDN'T TURN ON GO. THEY RE-INSTALLED THE COMPUTER SOFTWARE AND UPDATED THE SYSTEM AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. IN 02/2019 I STARTED HAVING THE SAME ISSUES, BACK UP CAMERA AND CENTER CONSOLE NOT WORKING, AND DASH TURNING OFF AND NOT COMING ON. ALSO WHEN I TOOK THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION AND GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND LOCKED THE DOOR AND THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING. THE RADIO WAS STILL PLAYING AND THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NO KEY IN THE IGNITION AND IT WAS NOT REMOTE STARTED. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THAT MORNING TO BRING THE CAR IN THAT NIGHT FOR SERVICE THE NEXT DAY. THEY KEPT THE TRAX FOR ROUGHLY 1 WEEK. THE INSTALLED A NEW RADIO, RE-FLASHED AND UPDATED THE COMPUTER, AND RE-INSTALLED THE BACK UP CAMERA SOFTWARE. I PICKED THE CAR UP DROVE ROUGHLY 3 MILES AND BROUGHT IT BACK SAME HOUR DUE TO IT HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. THEY KEPT IT ANOTHER 3 DAYS AND I GOT IT BACK AFTER ABOUT 2 WEEKS OF WORK AT THE DEALERSHIP. AS OF 06/11/19 I HAD TO TAKE THE CAR BACK IN FOR THE SAME ISSUES: DASH GOING OUT, RADIO GOING OUT, BACK UP CAMERA NOT WORKING, AND THE TRAX STILL RUNNING WITH NO KEY IN THE IGNITION. PART WAS ORDERED AND OVER-NIGHTED BUT NEVER CAME IN ON 06/12/19. WAITING TO SEE IF I CAN RETURN THIS LEMON OF A CAR NOW.

GOT THIS VEHICLE ON 07/23/2016, THE VEHICLE HAD MAJOR ISSUES UNTIL 09/2018. IN SEPTEMBER 2018 I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE ORIGINAL LOT TO HAVE IT INSPECTED AS WHEN SWITCHING THE FAN FOR THE A/C FROM 3 TO 4 ON THE BLOWER MOTOR SETTINGS STOPPED WORKING. MY DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE ORIGINAL BLOWER MOTOR. ALONG WITH THAT I WAS HAVING THE ISSUES OF THE CENTER CONSOLE (RADIO UNIT) AND THE DASH (WHERE THE SPEED, MILEAGE, ETC... IS) WOULD GO OUT WILL DRIVING OR NOT TURN ON AT ALL AND THE BACK UP CAMERA WOULDN'T TURN ON GO. THEY RE-INSTALLED THE COMPUTER SOFTWARE AND UPDATED THE SYSTEM AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. IN 02/2019 I STARTED HAVING THE SAME ISSUES, BACK UP CAMERA AND CENTER CONSOLE NOT WORKING, AND DASH TURNING OFF AND NOT COMING ON. ALSO WHEN I TOOK THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION AND GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND LOCKED THE DOOR AND THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING. THE RADIO WAS STILL PLAYING AND THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NO KEY IN THE IGNITION AND IT WAS NOT REMOTE STARTED. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THAT MORNING TO BRING THE CAR IN THAT NIGHT FOR SERVICE THE NEXT DAY. THEY KEPT THE TRAX FOR ROUGHLY 1 WEEK. THE INSTALLED A NEW RADIO, RE-FLASHED AND UPDATED THE COMPUTER, AND RE-INSTALLED THE BACK UP CAMERA SOFTWARE. I PICKED THE CAR UP DROVE ROUGHLY 3 MILES AND BROUGHT IT BACK SAME HOUR DUE TO IT HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. THEY KEPT IT ANOTHER 3 DAYS AND I GOT IT BACK AFTER ABOUT 2 WEEKS OF WORK AT THE DEALERSHIP. AS OF 06/11/19 I HAD TO TAKE THE CAR BACK IN FOR THE SAME ISSUES: DASH GOING OUT, RADIO GOING OUT, BACK UP CAMERA NOT WORKING, AND THE TRAX STILL RUNNING WITH NO KEY IN THE IGNITION. I CALLED ON 06/12/19 THEY STATED THE CAR WOULD NOT COMMUNICATE WITH THE DIAGNOSTICS COMPUTER AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE RADIO THEY INSTALLED 4 MONTHS AGO. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET TRAX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE ROOF MOLDING FRACTURED AFTER A TRIP TO A CAR WASH IN DEC 2018. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO RE-ATTACHED THE MOLDING PIECE WAS TAPED DOWN WITH 3M DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED TWO TIMES. THE ROOF MOLDING BECAME COMPLETELY DETACHED AFTER THE LAST FAILURE. THE CONTACT CALLED HOSELTON CHEVROLET AT 585-662-2800 (LOCATED AT 909 FAIRPORT RD, EAST ROCHESTER, NY 14445) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE PART NEEDED TO BE ORDERED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 7,500.*BF*JB

CHEVY SUCKS. BOUGHT MY 2016 CHEVY TRAX IN SEPTEMBER 2015. IT'S BEEN WELL MAINTAINED. AT THE 59,000 MILE MARK, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP AND THE ENGINE POWERS DOWN WITH NO WARNING, ESC LIGHTS COMES ON AND THE CAR LOSES ACCELERATION. TOOK IT TO 1 DEALER WHO KEEPS IT FOR 4 WEEKS WHEN THEY FIGURE IT'S A MODULE. I BROUGHT IT TO MY REGULAR MECHANIC WHO HAS A RELATIONSHIP WITH ANOTHER CHEVY DEALER SO I COULD SAVE ON LABOR, THEY HAVE IT FOR ANOTHER 4 WEEKS. AND STILL WITH THE SAVINGS, IT COST ME $1120 FOR THIS REPAIR ON TOP OF THE $218 I PAID FOR THE ORIGINAL DIAGNOSTIC. I FINALLY GET THE CAR BACK, HAVE IT FOR A DAY AND IT'S THE SAME PROBLEM! THEY REPLACED THE BATTERY, AND STILL THE PROBLEM IS STILL OCCURRING AND THE DEALER CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG. THIS IS CHEVY'S [XXX] PRODUCT!
