ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
My newly purchased 2019 Ford eco-sport with under 40000 miles started having engine malfunctions, and would not accelerate at all. I had it towed to joey Meyers and was told they needed to replace the engine. I had it replaced in October 2023, Which took two months, and now I am Having the same exact engine light come on and my car is slow to accelerate even after replacing the engine. 4 weeks ago I brought the vehicle back to Joe Meyers ford and was told that “ this is a new issue and the parts that need to be replaced are technically “outside” of the engine so not covered under warranty “ the repair invoice total that was quoted to me is $2400. I refused to pay this because I don’t understand how the engine is replaced and three months later I have the same issue but ford is saying it’s now a new engine problem. Since then, I checked online to see if there have been any recalls on the vehicle and was shocked to see Jan 04,2024 Manufacturer Recall Number 23S64 NHTSA Recall Number 23V905. Not once did anyone at ford tell me that there is a recall on my vehicle that is stating the exact issues I am experiencing. I am a single mother of 3 children and work full time therefore I am concerned about my childrens safety while driving this vehicle. The vehicle experiences sudden loss of power while driving at high speeds on the freeway.

ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
On April 2nd, my cars dash said “low oil engine pressure” with a severe dinging noise. I got an oil change and they said to take it to a mechanic, my local mechanic said the oil pump belt drive was at a loss of pressure, resulting in damage to my engine and oil pump. On 4/2/24 My local mechanic refused to fix it due to the recall and said that it should be fixed at Fords expense. On 4/14/24 I got my car towed to the Ford Dealer with my AAA membership, by the next day 4/15 I talked with service and we did not agree to a diagnosis because I knew parts would be out regardless of the diagnosis due to the Letter I received. The dealership was insisting on a diagnosis but I could not afford it out of pocket and Ford agreed that regardless of what the diagnosis said, parts for the low oil engine pressure are not available and could not be expedited because my vehicle doesn’t run. They said my car could only sit for two weeks at the dealership since it is not actively seeking parts. They are looking for me to pay out-of-pocket until the program becomes available when the second part of the issue for recall is noticed. Ford issued a recall but said parts wouldn’t be available until approximately August/24 or possibly later. Ford has not offered me any solution to this matter and they are not taking accountability for putting a defective product on the road. I have seen over 136k Ford Ecosport models 2018-2022 have been reporting this issue. My car is unsafe to drive.

Corrective Action:
Defect Description:
ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
On [XXX], my 2019 Ford EcoSport came up with an alert that indicated to "see manual"; the manual indicated that this alert is due to the Powertrain. Hours later, I receive an alert with the engine oil symbol about the engine oil pressure low followed by the engine light appearing. I was able to get it into my dealership (Venus Ewald Ford in Cudahy, WI) the next day; it was informed to me later that day that these symptoms were due to the recall associated with the vehicle. It was a hassle obtaining a rental vehicle as the warranty states it "can only be a Ford Vehicle" I was told. On [XXX], I received a call from the dealership indicating that my rental vehicle was extended as they were waiting on a specific part from Ford. It is now [XXX] and I have not heard anything since 4/05/2024 about the vehicle's status. Moreover, I was informed I would have to pay a deductible which I should not have to as indicated it was all due to the recall and the letter I received regarding the recall states the "repair will be free of charge (parts and labor)."
