In the event of a crash, the driver's frontal air bag may not fully inflate or the air bag cushion may detach from the air bag module. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Ford Edge vehicles manufactured February 9, 2015, to August 12, 2016. During dealer servicing, the affected vehicles may be have been updated with incorrect Antilock Brake System (ABS) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) software. This software can cause the ESC system to lose engine torque control, and not provide any warning lamps to warn the driver if there was an ABS or ESC system malfunction. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 126, "Electronic Stability Control Systems" and number 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."

THEY FOUND COOLANT WAS GETTING INTO THE #3 CYLINDER. THEREFORE REQUIRING A NEW LONG BLOCK. WE RESEARCHED TSB19-2346 AND FOUND THE EXACT SYMPTOMS TO WHAT CAUSED MY ENGINE FAILURE,AND THIS GOES FOR ALL 2.0 LITER ECO-BOOST ENGINES. BASICALLY, A FACTORY MATERIAL DEFECT IN HEAD THAT ALLOWED COOLANT TO LEAK INTO CYLINDER BLOCK, WHICH CAN CAUSE ENGINE FAILURE. MY FORD WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED DUE TO MY VEHICLE MILEAGE. MY EXTENDED WARRANTY COMPANY DUE TO WORDING IN CONTRACT WOULD ONLY COVER INTERNAL , LUBRICATED FAILURE OF ENGINE. REAR LIFTGATE GLASS SHATTERED/EXPLODED AS THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR WAS SHUT. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN DRIVEWAY. A BASKETBALL SIZED HOLE WAS LEFT IN THE SHATTERED GLASS. REAR LIFTGATE WAS NEVER OPENED DURING THIS TIME, AND THERE WAS NO PREVIOUS OR EXISTING DAMAGE TO THE LIFTGATE OR LIFTGATE GLASS. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED OUTSIDE IN MID 30 DEGREE WEATHER FOR ABOUT 4 HOURS PRIOR TO GLASS EXPLODING.

FRONT END IMPACT INTO A TREE; MULTIPLE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE PRIMARY DRIVER'S SIDE STEER WHEEL AIRBAG. THE CAR SENSED AND ATTEMPTED TO CALL 911 BUT WAS IN A RURAL AREA. JUST CONCERNED ABOUT WHY THAT WITH ALL THE OTHER AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND NO SENSOR NOTED TO ACTIVATE THE STEERING WHEEL AIRBAG.

ON 6/18/2020, WHILE SITTING IN A PARKING LOT MY VEHICLE WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING AND MY FOOT ON THE PEDAL, THE PEDAL SUDDENLY WENT TO THE FLOOR. NOT REALIZING WHAT HAD ACTUALLY HAPPENED, I DROVE THE 3 MILES HOME; HOWEVER, IN ORDER TO ENGAGE THE BRAKE, I HAD TO STEP VERY HARD ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT TOOK LONGER THAN NORMAL TO GET THE VEHICLE TO SLOW TO A STOP. CONTACTED A REPAIR SHOP, WHO REMOVED AND REPLACED BOTH FRONT BRAKE HOSES AND FLUSHED THE BRAKE FLUID FOR A WHOPPING $510.03. WHEN DOING SOME RESEARCH, I CAME ACROSS RECALL # 20S42. AS FORD WAS AWARE THIS RISK, I DO NOT FEEL I SHOULD BE OUT OF POCKET THE $500+ I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO ENSURE THAT THE HOSES USED TO REPLACE THE ORIGINALS ARE TRUE FORD PARTS; AS, ACCORDING TO FORD, THE PARTS ARE NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR INSTALL.
