Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles and 2017 Lincoln Continental vehicles. In the event of a crash, the driver's frontal air bag may not fully inflate or the air bag cushion may detach from the air bag module. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Safety Issue:
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Ford Edge vehicles manufactured February 9, 2015, to August 12, 2016. During dealer servicing, the affected vehicles may be have been updated with incorrect Antilock Brake System (ABS) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) software. This software can cause the ESC system to lose engine torque control, and not provide any warning lamps to warn the driver if there was an ABS or ESC system malfunction. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 126, "Electronic Stability Control Systems" and number 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."

THE SERVICING DEALER CHECKED WITH FORD AND SAID THE ENGINEERS ARE WORKING ON THE ISSUE, BUT THERE ARE NO REPAIRS FOR THIS CONDITION AND IT WILL NOT HARM THE ENGINE.

THE ADAPTIVE STEERING FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. THERE IS A TSB ON THIS AND THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE STEERING WHEEL TO FIX IT. NOW IT IS COMING ON AGAIN WITH THE NEW STEERING WHEEL AND WILL NEED TO GO BACK TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE. IT CAME ON DURING A HIGHWAY TRIP FROM NEW ORLEANS TO DAYTONA AND HAS STAYED ON EVER SINCE. THE STEERING WHEEL IS TILTED LEFT AS A RESULT.

LOST CONTROL ON MY STEARING DRIVING TO MY WORK THIS MORNING. I WAS DRIVING ON STRAIGHT ROAD WHEN I STARTED EXPECTING LOST OF STEARING, CAR WAS ALMAST START DRIVING TO THE CURB. I PUT ON BREAKS AND CAR WOULDN'T STOP. TRYED TO MANEUVER CAR TO STOP FROM GOING ON CURB AND TURNING TO OPPOSITSIDE BUT THERE WAS OUTCOMING TRAFFIC, BUT WAS VERY UNFORTUNATE TO CONTROL THAT IS WAS STILL DRIVING EVEN I WAS PUSHING ON THE BREAKS AND CAR WENT ALL THE WAY TO SIDE OF THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION AND FLUE TO THE FIELD AND DREW THERE FOR 100-200 FEET UNTILL IT IS STOPPED.
