Ford Motor Company
NHTSA Campaign: 25V442000 SAFETY RECALL
200.1K Vehicles Affected
Recall Date: Jun 27, 2025
Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018-2022 Transit Connect, 2019-2020 MKZ, Edge, Continental, F-150, Nautilus, Fusion, 2019-2023 Ranger, Mustang, 2020-2021 EcoSport, Expedition, Navigator, 2020-2022 Escape, F-250 SD, Corsair, 2020-2023 Aviator, Transit, 2020-2024 Explorer, 2021-2024 Bronco Sport, and 2022-2024 Maverick vehicles. A software error may cause the rearview camera to display a blank image, or the image may remain on the display after the backing event has ended.

Potential Risk:
A rearview camera that displays a blank image can reduce the driver's view behind the vehicle. A rearview image that continues to be displayed after the vehicle is shifted out of reverse may distract the driver. Both of these situations can increase the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will update the rearview camera software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 28, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S72.
Action Required: Contact your local FORD dealer to schedule your FREE recall repair.

Ford Motor Company
NHTSA Campaign: 21V011000 SAFETY RECALL

Recall Date: Jan 15, 2021
Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Edge, 2020 Lincoln Nautilus and Ford Escape and 2021 Lincoln Corsair and Ford Bronco Sport vehicles. An inadequate amount of lubricant in the rear drive unit may cause seizure of the rear drive axle.

Potential Risk:
If the rear drive unit seizes, there may be a loss of drive and/or a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will check the rear drive unit lubricant level. Axles found to have lubricant at the minimum level will be filled to the full level. Axles found to be below the minimum lubricant fill level will be replaced, free of charge. This recall began March 12, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 21S02.

NHTSA Campaign: 20V575000 SAFETY RECALL
620.2K Vehicles Affected
Recall Date: Sep 23, 2020
Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2020 Ford F-150, F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, Explorer, Mustang, Transit, Expedition, Escape, Ranger and Edge, and Lincoln Nautilus and Corsair vehicles. Due to a poor electrical connection, the rearview camera may intermittently display a blank or distorted image. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 111, "Rear Visibility."

Potential Risk:
Reduced rearward visibility can increase the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the rearview camera, free of charge. The recall began November 17, 2020. Remedy became available on February 1, 2021. Owner notification letters were mailed on February 1, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20C19.

Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2019-2020 Edge, Transit Connect and Lincoln MKX and 2020 Escape and Lincoln Corsair vehicles. The start/stop accumulator endcap may have missing or loose bolts.

FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the start/stop accumulator, free of charge. The recall began September 23, 2020. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S49.

Defect Description:

ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

Engine / transmission shudder / jerk when accelerating at low speeds. Dealer performed software update and advised of misfiring. Plugs and Coil Packs replaced. Issue persisted. Hundreds of similar complaints on forums online for 2019-2022 Ford Edge's with the 2.0L engine. Ford has still not produced a solution, and multiple dealers (per forum discussions) have suggested replacing transmissions and other parts to fix the issue with no success. Seems like Ford is stonewalling its customers despite this known and wide spread issue which seems to occur between 55,000-80,000 miles (when their warranty conveniently ends at 60,000 miles).

Potential Consequences:

Vehicle has 950000 miles. Started hesitating and shuddering while changing gears at 50k and has progressively gotten worse. Has been to two dealers with diagnosis of transmission and/or torque converter replacement. Estimates between $4-8.5k to replace/repair. Quick internet search shows that this is a very common and known issue to Ford. Why has there not been a recall on this vehicle for these problems?

SEAT BELTS

Potential Consequences:

Faulty drivers seatbelt. The seat belt will either have a tremendous amount of slack to where it provides no restraint. This is concerning in the chance that an accident occurs; the chest strap hangs onto my lap. OR it will do the exact opposite and not give enough slack to buckle and gets stuck in the retracted position. When this happens I cant even put on my seat belt, giving me no choice but to ride around unsafe. My fear is getting into an accident and not having this critical piece of equipment protect me. There is also the concern of being pulled over and ticketed for not wearing my seat belt. Given that this is the drivers seatbelt malfunctioning, it’s unavoidable, It’s not like I can sit somewhere else to buckle up properly; especially if I am out already and just trying to head home when this occurs. I have spoken with Ford Motor Company twice about this (7/11/23 and (6/12/24) and opened up two different claims, but because this does not fall under my warranty it’s not covered? I stressed that this is a SAFETY concern not wear and tear. Neither time that I called was this issue properly handled. Does it take a major accident, injury and lawsuit for them to take a customer seriously when they are reporting safety restraint malfunctioning? They were unwilling to help solve this issue, and this raises serious concerns for me as well as anyone else who owns this model (or a ford in general). This should at least be a safety recall. Instead they are charging the owner to replace their faulty safety harness.

Corrective Action:

Faulty drivers seatbelt. The seat belt will either have a tremendous amount of slack to where it provides no restraint. This is concerning in the chance that an accident occurs; the chest strap hangs onto my lap. OR it will do the exact opposite and not give enough slack to buckle and gets stuck in the retracted position. When this happens I cant even put on my seat belt, giving me no choice but to ride around unsafe. My fear is getting into an accident and not having this critical piece of equipment protect me.
