ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
I was on the freeway going between 65-70mph when I felt a hard shift and lost all acceleration. The truck started to slow down and the wrench light came on. I was able to coast to the shoulder and turn my hazards on while the wrench light and warnings were going. I parked the truck and waited for my husband to help. The truck sat for approximately 20 minutes when it was turned back on. There were no lights on the dash and the wrench warning went away [XXX] husband was able to drive it home. I had my three kids in the truck and it was a terrifying experience. I took it to get scanned and it gave us a throttle body code. My vehicle supposedly isn't affected but this experience tells me that myself and my kids are in more danger than what is being claimed. POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
This appears to be a common problem when I researched it online. When trying to accelerate hard, the transmission will suddenly go to neutral instead of shifting. This causes a pause in accelerating when you need. It will then slam in to gear a few seconds later with various warnings about the transmission showing on the dash. I have had the vehicle inspected right after an incident that happened and there are no codes though you have warnings that temporarily show on the dash when it happens. The most recent incident was on the freeway while changing lanes to go around slower traffic and caused the person behind us to have to hit their brakes since the vehicles was unable to accelerate and even slowed instead for several seconds.

Defect Description:
ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
My expedition was reprogrammed when I bought it due to the Cam phaser rattle. This did not help. I was told this was normal and would not effect the engine. I had taken it in a second time to be reprogrammed an given the same information. My Ford service says fifth cylinder misfire. The car shakes and idles hard. The spark plug and parts were replaced as suggested with no change. Took it to the shop and was told I now need a new engine due to an internal failure of the engine. I called Ford and they said there is no recall on this year. The Cam phaser reprogram was a customer satisfaction and not a recall. I asked if they would offer assistance since now I need a new engine. They will not. I called about ordering a new engine. Iwas was told there is over 250 people waiting for an engine as they are backordered by the Ford service department. It will be $10,000 plus 1200 for the core plus install. There are no availble engine due to the backorder and you must pay for the parts to get on the waitlist. The earliest they will release them is in November. How are there this many people waiting for an engine and no recall? This is a safety issue as all cylinders are not firing and there is not enough compression to make the vehicle run correctly. The check engine light appears solid upon starting the car and then will start blinking. The vehicle was inspected by an independent shop as I took my expedition to Ford for 60,000 service and they put the wrong fluid in my differential and then I had to have this rebuilt by them. After telling them something was wrong multiple times after they gave it back. So I do not trust to take it back to them. The independent shop confirmed this is a problem with these engines. I took it in due to the check engine light and hard idle that was getting worse.

Defect Description:
POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
On three separate occasions, my vehicle lost the ability to accelerate. The first time I was attempting to pass slow moving farm equipment when my vehicle lost power, had a loud vibrating/rattling noise and multiple dashboard warnings flashed. Luckily, I was able to merge back into my lane and pull off the side of the road. I took the vehicle in for service and was told I needed new phasers. Once I got my vehicle back, I was still experiencing issues. Fortunately, the next two times my vehicle lost power I was driving at low speeds. I did have my kids with me on one occasion and it scared them quite a bit. I am not sure what the loud noise is but they stopped riding with me after that. Thank goodness I was not driving my family on the highway when experiencing a power failure. My vehicle is back at a dealership waiting for a new transmission.

SEAT BELTS
Potential Consequences:
My husband was driving and I was in the passenger seat we were driving slow because we were coming to a stop at a red light. All of a sudden we hear a loud sound like a shotgun went off in the car. It felt like something hit my chest hard and like a puff of air. My seat belt all of a sudden was squeezing me. Then it smelled like gun powder. My husband and I were stunned and couldn't understand what had just happened. He thought someone shot at us or something exploded under the car. I was in so much pain I unlocked the seatbelt and I opened my door in the middle of all the traffic stopped and I got out. I felt like I was going to faint. My husband was asking if I was bleeding anywhere. I was looking and saying no but I couldn't understand what just happened. I starting crying and got in the back seat. My husband asked if I wanted to go to the hospital and I said and tell them what! They will think I am crazy. Went to my daughters crying the whole way. She googled and ended up finding a problem with the seat belts. I then started looking as well and came across this man that was on a Ford forum and explained the exact same thing happened to him and his wife. I am so glad we were not going any faster because I don't know how we would have not had an accident. I am now scared of my car and using seatbelts. I called the dealer today and I have an appointment for Monday to get it all looked at. Very disturbing on so many levels.
