POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
On November 28th 2018 my 2016 Ford Fusion was taken to R. D. Sawyer Motor Corp. (a Ford dealer) to have work for Recall 18S20 performed. On 10-21-22, the exact symptoms that Recall 18S20 were designed to prevent, "unintentional roll-away", were experienced by my daughter after she parked the vehicle on a mild incline. Although my daughter had moved the shifter into Park, the vehicle was actually in Neutral which allowed the vehicle to roll forward. Fortunately, there was an earthen embankment in front of the parking space so the vehicle did not roll very far before it was lodged against the earthen bank. I shudder to think what could have happen had it been parked in a spot that was without a barrier in front of it. A silent, rolling, unmanned vehicle could easily take the life of an unsuspecting pedestrian. The vehicle was towed to Levittown Ford (3195 Hempstead Turnpike, Levittown, NY 11756) where it had a repair done at a cost of approximately $1,300. I think that another recall should be required immediately as it is obvious that the manufacturer's attempt to correct their defective design has failed.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER
Potential Consequences:
While picking up my daughter from the ER last night, the door latch on the drivers side would not latch and close. This happened without notice. This is definitely a safety hazard to me and others on the road. We had to tie an old scarf on the door handle while the person on the passenger side pulled as tight as they could to keep the door closed. Although I saw that some 2016 Ford Fusions had Recalls for door latch/lock but unfortunately the Ford dealership and Ford motor company said that my car didn’t have a recall. Fortunately for us we were still in ER parking lot when this happened. Ford knows that the Fusions has had problems with the latch and lock mechanism on the doors and they should honor that! This is my only reliable transportation and both my husband and daughter are disabled and we rely on our(car)Ford Fusion for doctors appointments and I have to take my 11 year old granddaughter to and from school. I would greatly appreciate your assistance in this matter.

SERVICE BRAKES
Potential Consequences:
Break hose was recalled by Ford but Ford refused to fix it until it broke. I expressed my concerns about safety and was told by the dealership they hadn’t seen the hose break yet. While driving my break fluid suddenly went out and my peddle dropped to the floor. I barely missed hitting someone with my car. I called the dealership and was told I’d have to bring the car in next week. I called cs and expressed concern and was told I could take it to another one even though I was scared to drive it that far. I called the other dealerships and no one answered. Another repair shop got me right in and it was in fact the hose that broke.

Potential Consequences:
Check Engine light went on, car has under 95k miles. Upon inspection at dealership, they quoted a new engine as the solution due to a coolant leak into the cylinder (#3). Cost of fix is around $11k...not even close to a reasonable problem for a car of this age! Am being told this is a problem with the long block throughout this line. ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
My car began overheating and immediately would run fine. After researching what was going on I took my car to Herring Ford in Picayune, MS. They stated to me that the motor would have to be replaced due to a leak from the coolant, but that I could safely drive the car if I kept the coolant level full. After more research I found that year models 2013-2015 were recalled for the same issue. I purchased my 2016 Ford Fusion in December of 2015. I am requesting that my car be added to the recall due to the same defect and that I am reimbursed the full price I paid to have my car repaired. No warning lights appeared unless the coolant level was low. I filled the car with coolant daily to keep it from running hot. My safety and the safety of others was put at risk due to having to stop on the side of the highway when my car would run hot. This was an almost daily occurrence.

ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
Car not starting, engine light on. Took to shop, and was a #3 cylinder misfire error. Shop replaced spark plugs and topped off coolant. Over next few days noticed coolant was disappearing. No leaks. Car running rough, loosing coolant. Took to shop again, after several weeks they came back saying coolant is getting into combustion chamber. Decided to take to dealership, they said I need a new engine. Took to dealership I purchased car from and they said the same, new engine. The car only has 77,000 miles on it. Now it is essentially a paperweight. After researching problem, found out this is a known manufacturers defect (grooves in the head that trap coolant and degrade gasket). 2012 Ford ordered a do not drive notice for the exact same problem. I have wrote to Ford and asked for assistance with the repairs, as this is a manufactures defect, but have been unsuccessful.

ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
The vehicle started leaking coolant into the engine at just under 100k miles. I took my vehicle to Sunrise Ford in North Hollywood, California, and they want just over $10,000 to replace my engine. I've taken care of this vehicle since I purchase new and have always taken care of it. I do not have the money to replace the engine for more than the car is worth. I've spent money on replacement parts, such as, spark plug coils, spark plugs, and valve cleaning. All this seems to be associated with the coolant leaking into the cylinders. At this point, I continue to add coolant to ensure that I do not overheat the engine. I've also stopped driving the vehicle.

POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
Car engine lost power on interstate potentially causing a serious and life-threatening accident. Upon inspection by mechanic, car is losing coolant into the engine cylinder due to design flaw in engine long block and head gasket. Only warning light was immediate and "engine overheating". Ford Motor Company has confirmed acknowledgement of this issue on 2016 to 2019 Ford Fusion and other Ford models but have not issued a recall for this problem. Car has 72K miles with no history of engine failure, overheating, etc. This problem has been reproduced by Ford dealership and inspected with camera to confirm engine coolant within cylinders. Ford also confirms that they've seen this several times and it is due to engine design flaw for ecoboost models 2016-2019.

SERVICE BRAKES
Potential Consequences:
The front brake hoses broke. We received a Customer Satisfaction Program notice from Ford the week before this happened. I called the dealer to get information and wanted them to check my car, but they said it was not necessary. The car was driven on a major highway, the brake fluid came out and not even a mile later, the brake fluid light came on, and i could not stop the car. The brake pedal was to the floor! Luckily, and I mean luckily, I was able to turn into a parking lot. The car was towed to the dealer, where they determined the above. The car has been repaired with "newly designed" hoses. Ford was surely aware of the problem, but did not issue a recall. Truly unbelievable!
