Defect Description:
ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
Potential Consequences:
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while driving at undisclosed speeds and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended but started decelerating instead. During the failure, the contact would pull over to the side of the road, shift to park, turn off the vehicle, and then wait a while before restarting the vehicle for the vehicle to drive as intended. The failure also occurred while attempting to accelerate while idling. The contact stated that for several months during the failure, the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed, and the contact was informed that there was a misfire in cylinders #2 and #3. The dealer reset the computer to remove the code. The contact stated that three days later the check engine warning light was illuminated again. The vehicle was returned to the dealer who detected a misfire in cylinder #1. The spark plugs, crankshaft sensor, and coil packs were replaced. The check engine light was no longer illuminated; however, the failure persisted. The failure became more persistent, and the contact was pulling over to turn off and restart the vehicle more often. The contact had decided not to drive the vehicle due to the consistency of the failure. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the failure was common for similar vehicles. The dealer diagnosed that the head gasket had failed; however, it was not recommended to be replaced due to the failure recurring after the repair was completed. The dealer recommended that the engine be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and filed a case. The manufacturer confirmed that there was no recall on the VIN for the failure. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.

ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
My 2019 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 was driving fine until all of a sudden I got a check engine light on the dash. The vehicle was not as responsive as usual and was shaking a little bit at idle. I shut the car off and then had it towed to the Ford dealership for further analysis. After inspection at a dealership it was identified, that my engine had failed. Cylinder 8 would not hold compression and had cracked the engine block. This failure can cause complete engine failure and can be a risk to the driver, passengers and anyone else in traffic.

ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
Began over last month with difficulty or rough engine start in mornings Then engine overheated once and continues to lose coolant without visible sign of any leakage. Scan error codes P0300, P 0303, P 0304. Now with excessive steam/smoke out tail pipe when it’s started. Took to mechanic where they verified engine coolant is in atleast, cylinder #3. My safety and that of others is the engine can fail or completely break or explode while driving, causing failure to be able to control vehicle, possibly resulting in a crash or even death.

ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
Noticed vehicle was running rough on idle intermittently when sitting at a stop. I thought this was due to it being a very cold winter where I am located, but after a couple months, check engine light came on and was immediately brought in for service. Coolant was found leaking into a cylinder and I had to have head gasket as well as upper portion of engine replaced. From the research I have done there have been a lot of people with the same issue as mine and a design flaw in spacing between cylinders. Incident occurred less than 10,000 miles out of warranty and was not covered.

Power steering went out. Made turning very difficult. Then when you would turn either way it would jerk the steering wheel the opposite way. Caused me to run off the road. Ford Motor Company
Defect Description:
ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
I had a solid check engine light 2 days ago and called my local Ford dealership and made an appointment for the next morning. I had not experienced any problems that I really noticed with the performance of the car, maybe some rough shifting. I waited at the dealership while the assessment was done and they said they would have to keep it overnight to do a head gasket test. They called this morning and said that I could come get the car if i needed it but I would need to keep a check on the coolant. I decided to leave the car at the dealership. After the call, I researched the web for similar issues that this particular mustang might have and I started to worry after the info I found and the similar comments on the 2019 mustang owners on this website.

Driving down the interstate two days in a row and my passenger door just opened. First I thought it was just the indicator light, but when I looked over and heard the wind noise I pulled over immediately. The passenger door was opened. I shut it and continued on and it happened 3 more times.
