Ford Motor Company
NHTSA Campaign: 25V442000 SAFETY RECALL
200.1K Vehicles Affected
Recall Date: Jun 27, 2025
Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018-2022 Transit Connect, 2019-2020 MKZ, Edge, Continental, F-150, Nautilus, Fusion, 2019-2023 Ranger, Mustang, 2020-2021 EcoSport, Expedition, Navigator, 2020-2022 Escape, F-250 SD, Corsair, 2020-2023 Aviator, Transit, 2020-2024 Explorer, 2021-2024 Bronco Sport, and 2022-2024 Maverick vehicles. A software error may cause the rearview camera to display a blank image, or the image may remain on the display after the backing event has ended.

Potential Risk:
A rearview camera that displays a blank image can reduce the driver's view behind the vehicle. A rearview image that continues to be displayed after the vehicle is shifted out of reverse may distract the driver. Both of these situations can increase the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will update the rearview camera software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 28, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S72.
Action Required: Contact your local FORD dealer to schedule your FREE recall repair.

Recall Date: May 26, 2023
Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Bronco, 2023 Super Duty F-250, and 2019-2023 Ranger vehicles. The Tire and Loading Information (TREAD) label states the incorrect load carrying capacity, which can result in an overloaded vehicle. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."

Potential Risk:
An overloaded vehicle increases the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will mail a new TREAD label to install over the existing label, free of charge. Owners will also have the option to take their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer to have the new label installed, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 21, 2023. Recall Date: Dec 16, 2021
Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2021 Ranger and Bronco vehicles. The cruise control radar module was misaligned during production.

Potential Risk:
A misaligned radar module may prevent the vehicle from maintaining a safe distance from other vehicles when adaptive cruise control is active. In addition, the automatic emergency braking (AEB) system may react slowly, or not react at all, during a pre-collision assist braking event. Any of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will adjust the angle of the cruise control radar module, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 21, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 21S52.

Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2019-2021 Ford Ranger Super Cab vehicles. The front passenger outboard seat belt may not have been assembled properly, allowing the seat belt to be misrouted. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 208, "Occupant Crash Protection" and 209, "Seat Belt Assemblies."

Potential Risk:
A misrouted seat belt may not adequately restrain an occupant in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will provide owners with instructions to perform a preliminary inspection of their front seat belts. Owners that detect an issue with the driver's seat belt, are unsure of the results, or do not want to perform an inspection, should not drive their vehicles and contact a Ford dealership. Dealers will inspect the front row outboard seat belts and replace them, if necessary, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters were mailed on November 5, 2021. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 225, "Child Restraint Anchorage System."

Potential Risk:
An improperly attached child seat can increase the risk of injury in a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:

SUSPENSION

Potential Consequences:

A few day ago I noticed a knocking sound coming from the read driver side suspension when driving over speed bumps. After a visual inspection nothing was found. After a few days of the issue continuing, the vehicle was taken to a garage with a hydraulic lift. The vehicle was lifted and a full inspection of the suspension system was done. What was discovered was a bit nerve racking. The front mount of the driver side leaf spring assembly was connected to the frame of the vehicle with a single bolt and nut. The bolt was hanging lose roughly 3/4 of the way out from it's original position and not nut was in sight. I checked the passenger side leaf spring mount and discovered that the bolt and nut were in place but the nut was finger tight. I was able to unscrew the nut off the bolt with no tools. If the bolt would have come completely lose and fallen out, this would cause the leaf spring/ rear axle to disconnect from the frame of the vehicle. The results of that could be mild to catastrophic. That would all depend on the speed the vehicle would be travelling at during the failure. This vehicle is factory original. No after market work/parts have been installed on this suspension. No off road driving was done on this vehicle.

Potential Consequences:

The surface of the drivers side interior door handle has peeled and created a dangerously sharp edge that WILL cause physical harm to the drivers hand. The middle finger on my left hand was sliced open on 06/15/2023. I made an appointment with the dealer to have to handle inspected/replaced and a service done. The vehicle is available for inspection and I have photos of the faulty door handle and my injury. I came across a post on the internet that shows ford has had an issue with this on other vehicles. I read GM also had an issue with this as well. https://blueovalforums.com/forums/index.php?/topic/54795-ouch-peeling-fusion-doorhandle-cuts-me-deep/ In 42 years on this earth, I have never had a vehicle do this. The handles are clearly made of poor quality materials.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

Potential Consequences:

Ford Ranger XLT VIN [XXX] Ford File CAS [XXX] opened 02/08/23 Contact: [XXX], [XXX] Ext [XXX] Acceleration Incidents on trips between Mobile and Dallas. 1. Vehicle purchased March, 2021. Current mileage 6400 +/- 2. In July, 2022, after driving 6 hours at interstate speeds using cruise control, we exited interstate and drove secondary streets to hotel. On entering parking lot we idled toward parking space and I applied brake to slow and throttle went wide open. I braked and shifted to neutral to stop forward motion. No recurrence on remainder of trip to Mobile or in subsequent city driving. 3. On 02/04/23, after driving 6 hours at interstate speeds using cruise control, we exited interstate and drove secondary streets to hotel. On entering parking lot, we paused with engine running to punch in gate number. When gate opened, we idled forwarded toward parking space. I touched brake to slow and throttle went wide open. I applied brakes and shifted into neutral. 4. On 02/05/23, we left hotel and stopped for gas. We drove four hours at interstate speed, intentionally without using cruise control. After exiting interstate, we drove to apartment and stopped at entrance with engine running before idling through parking lot gate. I touched brake to slow and throttle went wide open. Applying brakes did not stop truck and I shifted into neutral and turned off ignition. At least three nearly identical incidents found reported on internet dating from 10/2020, at least one of which Ford opened file on. Dealer Five Star Ford, Dallas, Tx. could not duplicate SUA but did not drive vehicle for 4-6 hours at interstate speeds to duplicate conditions. Ford closed file on warranty claim. Vehicle sold to dealer. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

On multiple occasions the transmission has slipped when changing gears .This has happened when trying to merge into traffic . One time almost causing someone to rear-end me . It also fails to downshift some times when stopping , causing me to brake much harder than normal . I will be taking it to the dealer soon , to see if this can be fixed . These issues can be a little scary at times . There have been no warning lights or messages . This has happened at least a dozen times now . The first incident with the transmission I think started in 10/2022 . it was sporadic at first , but seems to happen almost daily now .
