ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

The vehicle has lost its power during the drive. As I was pulling the vehicle out of the driveway, the vehicle was completely shut off and immediately turned on. A few month later, similar thing happen. This time I tried cold start and it never cranked just on for a second and then lost the power compeletly. It happened one more time and I took it to the dealership. They said there is no issue with the battery, the assume the batter power is not enough for the vehicle. Even it has a geniue battery that was never replaced from the very first purchase it is not supporting the vehicle. It has not happen to me, but I lost the power in the middle of an highway it is a disaster. On the way out of the dealership, ridiculously it did not start again, and they jump started the car. Attached is the service invoice and a photo of jump start at the lot. It was Honda Curry, 5525 Peachtree Blvd #100, Chamblee, GA 30366.

Potential Consequences:

The glass of the sunroof spontaneously shattered while driving down the highway. It made an explosion sound and dropped shards of glass all over myself and my child. I am in the process of finding replacement glass for the vehicle. It is less than a year old, and the dealer does not have replacement parts nor does it know when they can get one. There were no warnings before this happened. The vehicle has never had any damage and is stored in an interior garage. The damage happened at 55 degrees on a dry overcast day in Nashville, TN.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

We purchased a 2022 Honda Odyssey EXL and shortly after purchasing it the driver's rear door sliding door stopped unlocking and it won't lock if it's unlocked. This prevents the ability to lock the door using the remote locking feature it also prevents fueling the vehicle if the lock is unlocked because the fuel door will not open if the door is unlocked. We took the vehicle in August 26th 2022 to Honda dealership and the dealership tested the lock switch and it still didn't work so they said that it could be the BCM and that has been on back order since August it is currently January 6th 2023.

SEAT BELTS

Potential Consequences:

While breaking, rear driver’s side passenger seat disengaged. Our 8 year old son was in seat with seat belt on. Upon breaking the seat propelled him forward. His face hit drivers seat and he was lacerated and concussed. Not only did the seat locking mechanism fail, but seat belt lock did not engage or prevent him from being flung. Brought vehicle to dealership same day as incident. They claim to have attempted to recreate incident, but used an adult male (instead of a 50lb “dummy”). Because they couldn’t recreate the unlocking of seat or explain failure of seatbelt to restrain, was told nothing is wrong and they attempted to “close the case” with nothing fixed, replaced or explained.

My power sunroof busted randomly while driving. Thank goodness I had it closed underneath me or else the glass would have fallen on me. It was sudden & I was not under a bridge or anything else to make me believe a rock or debris hit it. Additionally could not find a trace of a rock or anything afterwards. Not only did this pose a threat to me, but the glass flew behind me & caused an issue for the cars behind me.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Potential Consequences:

Intermittently, my 2022 Honda Odyssey with less than 16,000 miles will “stall” after the idle stop/start system is enacted. The first time it happened, I was waiting to turn left out of a parking lot onto a busy road. The idle stop kicked in, and when I went to go, my car lurched about 5 feet and the engine cut out completely requiring me to turn off the car with the push button start, restart the car, and put the car into drive. Luckily, people going both directions on the crossroad were able to go around me. This has happened probably 10 times before I was able to get it into the car dealership for service. It has no rhyme or reason for when it happens. The car dealership replaced the battery and said that it should fix the issue. When I went to leave the dealership after the “fix” the car again “stalled” as I was leaving the driveway of the dealership. I turned right back around, and returned the car to be serviced. Now, when talking to the service department at the dealership, I am being told that because “there is no code, and they cannot reproduce the issue, there is no fix.” I am not willing to drive an unsafe car, and additionally, the idle stop/start was one of the reasons this van gets good gas milage. So, I should not have to turn off that feature every time I get in the vehicle. My vehicle is currently sitting at the dealership because I have no other recourse to get it fixed. Husband has traded many phone calls with dealership and service department.

Potential Consequences:

Both the drive side view mirror and passenger side view mirror vibrate/shake while driving over a even small bumps and uneven pavement/road. I have noticed this since the vehicle was over 1000 miles. Took it in multiple times to dealership to replace the mirrors. They don’t take any action and state vibration is normal, unlike any other vehicles which doesn’t vibrate on such surfaces. This is a safety issue as the driver has to spend more time to check the mirrors for vehicles in blind spots. Now, vehicle has about 4500 miles. I have made 4 visits to dealership already including 3 visits to Richfield Bloomington Honda in Richfield, Minnesota: still no resolution. I have opened case with Honda America three weeks ago. They have been unsuccessful in getting responses from dealership.

Potential Consequences:

Driver side rear tire blowout about a mile from home at approximately 30 mph while slowing to make a right hand turn. The Bridgestone Turanza 235/60R18 103H is the exact model and size as a manufacturing lot that had already been recalled for a slow leak hazard. My failed tire's lot number is DOT 7X45 JB2 0521. A high speed failure could have easily resulted in an accident or a damaged vehicle. The failure point on my tire was at the exact failure point as described in the their recall. I took the tire to the Bridgestone local store where the on duty manager described the failure as simply a cut tire. I then again contacted Bridgestone cutomer service who did not have any interest in bringing it to their factory for inspection by qualified engineers. The failed tire is available for inspection. Seconds before the blowout I got a warning light alert.

VISIBILITY:REARVIEW MIRRORS/DEVICES:EXTERIOR

Potential Consequences:

Driver's side outdoor mirror is defective - a) On irregular payment ("not smooth") at any speed, this mirror vibrates and loses its vertical and horizontal position. Needs constant re-adjustment with power controls while driving or after vehicle is parked. Or both. b) At freeway speeds 45mph+ on smooth roads, it vibrates excessively and rapidly loses its viewing angle. c) At night on the freeway, mirror is unusable because of severe vibration with headlights in view. According to local Honda dealer's service department (Honda of Thousand Oaks, CA) this is a "known problem" and no repair or replacement is available since even replacement mirrors distributed by Honda have the same problem. Also, going back at least 2-3 years, all Honda vehicles with 6-cylinder engines have the same issue - Odysseys, Passports, Pilots, Ridgelines, etc. Only the driver side mirror - the outside passenger mirror does not have these issues. I contacted American Honda Corporate at the CEO level (see attached docs) and they eventually referred me to their Customer Car representative, "Jocelyn" - she informed me that Honda Engineering has no knowledge of this issue and therefore there's no service bulletin or "fix" under consideration. She said my only course of action is to have my local Honda dealer resolve the issue. Per the enclosed doc, I am in contact with the Service Manager at Honda Thousand Oaks, Mr. Max Picado, to arrange a visit so I can document their official response.
