The mounting holes for the clip that secures the right center pillar trim panel may be larger than intended. In the event of a crash necessitating right side curtain air bag deployment, the clip may not hold the center pillar trim panel in position and it may potentially interfere with the curtain air bag deployment. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 214, "Side Impact Protection," and 226, "Ejection Mitigation."

BACK OVER PREVENTION: REARVIEW SYSTEM BRAKING
Potential Consequences:
At least 7 months ago my back up camera started malfunctioning. When starting car first time of the day the screen would blink, fuzzy, blue, the go to black and last anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes. One time I went to garage and opened passenger door without vehicle on and the camera /radio lit up.?? It did go off. I saw there was a recall but unfortunately not for my VIN. have had it to dealer twice and they found nothing diagnostic and the car was warmed up so the camera/radio area was working..Help!

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
My wife was driving the car with our six-year old son. She stopped at a red light. The engine turned off from the auto-stop function (which we find annoying but cannot be permanently disabled) and the car would not restart. The warning lights were going crazy. The battery was so dead that the car could not even be jumped. There was no warning whatsoever. It was an extremely dangerous situation as the car died in the middle of a busy street. Thankfully it was close to home and I was able to come and take over. until help arrived The police had to come and divert traffic. People were honking and threatening me while I waited for the tow truck. When the two truck arrived, we could not get the car into neutral to move it out of the street because the gear shifting required the engine to start. It was an extremely dangerous situation and I shudder to think what could have happened had this occurred on a busier road. I have videos of the incident that I can share if helpful (wont let me upload on website). Honda replaced the battery and basically shrugged.

According to a Honda dealership, a bracket holding the exhaust pipe under the car snapped and caused the pipe to then lay on the bumper, which melted the bumper. They said there was nothing they could do. This is a manufacturer defect. If a bracket snaps, the bracket should be replaceable. At this point, the bracket needs to be replaced and so does the bumper.

Honda has indicated that there may be an issue with the auto-idle system on certain vehicles (which this may be related to), but has not issued a recall despite this incredibly dangerous and life-threatening issue.

In multiple incidents, our 2019 Honda Pilot stalled and would not restart. In two such incidents, the vehicle stalled and all systems became inoperable (including the hazard lights) at busy intersections, endangering the lives of my wife and two small children. The vehicle has been to the dealership where it was originally purchased (brand new) without resolution. There were no warning or indicator lights prior to the incidents. The entertainment display which is also the rear view camera display, turns off intermittently during driving and displays the following message: Network communication lost MOST Net Off. When this happens the rear view/back up camera doesn’t function creating an unsafe situation. The display will work again after turning the car off and then back on. The issue is random and unable to be reproduced. A dealer hasn’t confirmed the issue. It hasn’t been inspected. There were no warning lamps or display messages before the issue occurred. It has happened a 6-7 times in the past 9 months.

This 2019 Honda Pilot Elite has an Engine Auto Shut Off that engages when stopped at traffic lights, stopped traffic, etc. It can be turned off manually each time after starting the car ignition but when it is not - it will engage in these stopped positions. Recently, the Auto Shut Off has been engaging and the vehicle will completely shut off and go into Neutral. This has happened to us at stop lights with some frequency but has recently happened two times in stopped traffic on Interstate 95. We cannot get the vehicle to start back up without completely shutting off the ignition and going through the restart sequence. It is not an immediate fix and we are in a compromised and unsafe position on a highway without being able to start the car

On friday March 3, 2023 driving home from work, stop at a light and the car does not turn back on. It took at least 10 minutes to finally turn on for me to at least get home. I know that this is probably once again a battery issue. On April 1st of 2022 we replaced the battery for the 3rd time. The first time it was replaced the car was still under warranty. I usually turn off the auto start because I have had this problem at least 8 times prior to this last problem. This is a dangerous problem that this keeps happening. I shouldn't have to replace a battery every year like this. There should be a way of seeing if the battery has low voltage but I have not seen anything in the car regarding voltage. There should be a recall, Honda says that no other customer has complaints about this. I do see other people on this forum that have this issue. It really is hard to keep taking days off to go to a Honda dealer to get a new battery at 350 each pop. Please let me know what Honda plans on doing for this issue.

The driver's belt buckle receiver started malfunctioning and would click, but the seat belt would not lock at 93k miles. The belt would come unlatched while driving. The red release button would stick in the down position as well. Honda dealer said they would replace it under warranty, but it was non the less scary not to have a working seat belt. I question the quality of the part as I have had many other Hondas with 2-3 times the miles that never had a seat belt failure. I am driving a 2022 Honda Pilot loaner with 600 miles, and while the seat belt locks, it looks like it could eventually fail as well. I would feel safer if a Honda engineer inspected the buckle locks.
