Safety Issue:

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) recalled certain 2019-2021 Tucson vehicles on September 4, 2020. On December 30, 2020, Hyundai expanded the recall population, and added certain 2016-2018 Tucson vehicles. The Anti-lock Brake Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU) could corrode internally and cause an electrical short, possibly resulting in an engine compartment fire.

Potential Risk:
An engine compartment fire can increase the risk of injury or crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will replace the HECU fuse. For 2019-2021 model years, the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) software will also be updated. Recall repairs will be performed free of charge. Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures as a precaution until the recall repair is complete. The recall began November 2, 2020. Safety Issue:

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Tucson vehicles manufactured May 19, 2015, to November 14, 2016, and 2017 Santa Fe vehicles manufactured November 28, 2015, to November 14, 2016. The affected vehicles may be equipped with an accessory trailer hitch wiring harness that, due to a malfunction of the tow hitch module, may result, in the trailer brake lights being constantly illuminated. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, " Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Potential Risk:
If the trailer brake lights stay illuminated while being used, other drivers may be confused, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will replace the affected accessory trailer hitch wiring harnesses, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin January 13, 2017. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-800-633-5151. Hyundai's number for this recall is 153.

Safety Issue:

Hyundai Motor Company (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2016 Tucson vehicles manufactured May 20, 2015 through May 31, 2016 and equipped with a 7-speed EcoShift Dual Clutch Transmission. Certain driving conditions and high temperatures may cause the vehicle to not move if the accelerator pedal is pressed and released repeatedly.

Potential Risk:
Inability to move the vehicle while in traffic may increase the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:

Safety Issue:

Hyundai Motor Company (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2016 Tucson vehicles manufactured May 19, 2015 to March 14, 2016. In the affected vehicles, if the primary hood latch has been released, and the vehicle is driven, the secondary hood latch may not hold adequately secure the hood to prevent it from opening while the vehicle is in motion.

Potential Risk:
If the primary hood latch is inadvertently released and the secondary latch cannot secure the hood, the hood may unexpectedly open while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will replace the secondary hood latch, free of charge. The recall began on June 30, 2016. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 145.

Safety Issue:

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2016 Hyundai Tucson vehicles manufactured May 26, 2015 to January 15, 2016 and equipped with an accessory trailer hitch harness either included with the accessory trailer hitch or sold as a service part. In the affected vehicles, when the vehicle's engine is running and the brake lights are illuminated, if the turn signal is activated, the trailer turn signal lights will either turn off or remain continuously illuminated (not flash). As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard Number 108, " Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Potential Risk:
Failure to illuminate the trailer's turn signal lights would prevent the communication of the driver's intent, increasing the risk of a crash.

OCCASIONALLY, ON A CITY STREET AT STOP SIGNAL OR STOP SIGN, VEHICLE FAILS TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP AS GAS PEDAL IS PRESSED. REVS TO HIGH RPM'S, AND AS TRANSMISSION CATCHES UP, THE VEHICLE LUNGES FORWARD VIOLENTLY, NEARLY CAUSING REAR END COLLISION ON SEVERAL DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. I HAVE HAD MY HYUNDAI FOR ONE YEAR AND 2 MONTHS. ABOUT A FEW MONTHS IN I HAD PROBLEMS WITH AFTER STOPPING I TRIED TO HIT THE GAS AND THE CAR WOULD REV UP AND THEN NOT GO ANYWHERE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO HYUNDAI 4 TIMES NOW BECAUSE THEY HAVE HAD RECALLS AND TRIED TO GET IT FIXED. AFTER THE 3RD TIME I BROUGHT IT IN IT SEEMED TO BE WORKING FINE. I RECENTLY WENT IN TO GET AN OIL CHANGE AND THEY FIXED SOMETHING HOWEVER THAT CAUSED MY CAR TO BE MESSED UP AGAIN BUT THIS TIME WORSE. I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY WHERE IT IS 75 MILES AND MY CAR ALL OF A SUDDEN STARTED SLOWING DOWN. I HIT THE GAS AND IT WOULD NOT GO. ITS LIKE IT KEPT JUMPING IN AND OUT OF GEAR. IT DID THIS FOR THE WHOLE 45 MINS IT TOOK ME TO GET TO WORK ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. IT EVEN WENT AS LOW AS 50 MILES AN HR IN A 75. I HAVE SEVERAL VIDEOS I TOOK SHOWING IT SLOWING DOWN AND THEN REVING UP AND NOT MOVING WHEN HITTING THE GAS. I WAS SO SCARED IT WOULD STALL OUT ALL TOGETHER ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE HAD MY HYUNDAI FOR ONE YEAR AND 2 MONTHS. ABOUT A FEW MONTHS IN I HAD PROBLEMS WITH AFTER STOPPING I TRIED TO HIT THE GAS AND THE CAR WOULD REV UP AND THEN NOT GO ANYWHERE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO HYUNDAI 4 TIMES NOW BECAUSE THEY HAVE HAD RECALLS AND TRIED TO GET IT FIXED. AFTER THE 3RD TIME I BROUGHT IT IN IT SEEMED TO BE WORKING FINE. I RECENTLY WENT IN TO GET AN OIL CHANGE AND THEY FIXED SOMETHING HOWEVER THAT CAUSED MY CAR TO BE MESSED UP AGAIN BUT THIS TIME WORSE. I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY WHERE IT IS 75 MILES AND MY CAR ALL OF A SUDDEN STARTED SLOWING DOWN. I HIT THE GAS AND IT WOULD NOT GO. ITS LIKE IT KEPT JUMPING IN AND OUT OF GEAR. IT DID THIS FOR THE WHOLE 45 MINS IT TOOK ME TO GET TO WORK ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. IT EVEN WENT AS LOW AS 50 MILES AN HR IN A 75. I HAVE SEVERAL VIDEOS I TOOK SHOWING IT SLOWING DOWN AND THEN REVING UP AND NOT MOVING WHEN HITTING THE GAS. I WAS SO SCARED IT WOULD STALL OUT ALL TOGETHER ON THE HIGHWAY. DANGEROUS TRANSMISSION. WHILIE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION GOING DOWN AN ON-RAMP TO GET ONTO THE INTERSTATE I PROCEEDED TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT I DID NOT HAVE ANY POWER. THE CAR WAS STILL ON BUT THERE WAS NOT ANY ACCELERATION, I KEPT PRESSING AND PRESSING AND NOTHING. SO I PULLED OFF THE ROAD SO A SEMI WOULDN'T RUN OVER ME. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND THEN WAITED ABOUT A MINUTE. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR MOVING A LITTLE BIT AT A TIME. ONCE I REACHED 70MPH IT WAS LIKE IT WOULDN'T SHIFT GEARS. SO I DECIDED TO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. WHILE STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT I PROCEEDED INTO THE INTERSECTION ONLY TO HAVE IT NOT BE ABLE TO MOVE ANYMORE SO I WAS BLOCKING TRAFFIC. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND DID A DIAGNOSTIC ONLY TO FIND OUT THERE WERE NO ISSUES. CLEARLY THIS FUNCTION DOES NOT DO IT'S JOB IN REPORTING THE PROBLEM. THE SERVICE MANAGER WAS NOT ABLE TO GET ME AN APPOINTMENT UNTIL 5 DAYS LATER TO LOOK AT IT. ONLY TO FIND OUT THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THIS ISSUE. I THOUGHT IT WAS IN MY HEAD BECAUSE THIS STARTED WHEN I ONLY HAD THE CAR A MONTH. YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN. ALSO, THE CAR WILL LUNGE AT LOW SPEEDS AND SORT OF BUCK.
