Safety Issue:

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Nissan Murano, 2016-2018 Nissan Maxima, and 2017-2019 Nissan Pathfinder and Infiniti QX60 vehicles. These vehicles were previously recalled and unrepaired, or inspected and determined to not need a repair, under recall number 18V-601. In addition, this recall expands the previous population. The Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) actuator pumps may allow brake fluid to leak onto an internal circuit board.

Potential Risk:
A brake fluid leak on the circuit board may result in an electrical short, increasing the risk of a fire.
FREE Recall Solution:
Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will replace the ABS actuator, free of charge. Owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts become available, currently expected to be during summer 2020. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Note: If the ABS warning light remains illuminated for more than 10 seconds after engine start up, owners are advised to park the vehicle outdoors away from other vehicles or structures and to not drive the vehicle.

Safety Issue:

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2015-2017 Nissan Murano, 2016-2017 Nissan Maxima, 2017-2018 Nissan Pathfinder, and 2017 Infiniti QX60 vehicles. The Anti-Lock Brake (ABS) actuator pumps may allow brake fluid to leak onto an internal circuit board.

Potential Risk:
A brake fluid leak on the circuit board may result in an electrical short, increasing the risk of a fire.
FREE Recall Solution:
Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the serial number on the ABS actuator, replacing it as necessary, free of charge. The recall began October 29, 2018. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Note: When brake fluid has leaked onto the circuit board, the ABS warning lamp will remain illuminated for more than 10 seconds after engine start up. If this occurs, owners are advised to park the vehicle outdoors away from other vehicles or structures and to not drive the vehicle.

(Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Nissan Maxima vehicles manufactured February 10, 2015, to August 19, 2016 and equipped with Intelligent Cruise Control, 2015-2017 Murano vehicles manufactured August 22, 2014, to August 19, 2016 and equipped with Intelligent Cruise Control, and 2015-2016 Murano Hybrid vehicles manufactured August 22, 2014, to July 19, 2016. The affected vehicles have Anti-Lock Brake (ABS) actuator pumps that may allow brake fluid to leak onto an internal electrical circuit board.

Potential Risk:
A brake fluid leak onto the circuit board may result in an electrical short, increasing the risk of a fire.
FREE Recall Solution:
Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the ABS Actuator, replacing it as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on December 12, 2016. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261. Note: When brake fluid has leaked onto the circuit board, the ABS warning lamp will remain illuminated for more than 10 seconds after engine start up. If this occurs, owners are advised to park the vehicle outdoors away from other vehicles or structures and to not drive the vehicle.

Potential Consequences:

CONTINUALLY GETTING ERROR MESSAGE SAYING "UNAVAILABLE FRONT RADAR OBSTRUCTION". TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS FINE AFTER CLEARING THE CODE. DROVE AWAY FROM DEALER AND IT DID IT AGAIN. TOOK IT BACK AND THEY NOW SAY NISSAN IS "ENGINEERING" THE PROBLEM AND DON'T RECOMMEND A FIX. TOOK IT ON THE HIGHWAY AND WAS PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE AT 75MPH WHEN IT WENT OFF AND IT DISABLED MY CRUISE CONTROL. THAT WAS QUITE STARTLING AND IS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS. CALLED NISSAN CORPORATE OFFICE AND FILED A CASE. THEY DON'T SEEM TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM, YET I SEE OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WHEN I CHECK FORUMS ON THE INTERNET.

ALSO, SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST YEAR, I GET IN AND PLACE FOOT ON BRAKE AND PUSH BUTTON TO START AND IT WILL NOT START, TAKES SEVERAL ATTEMPTS BEFORE THE VEHICLE WILL START!!!

I COULD NOT USE MY DRIVING SAFETY CONTROLS THAT CONTROLLED DISTANCES BETWEEN VEHICLES ALSO. THIS WAS A POOR DESIGN FLAW AND WAS NOT COVERED UNDER MY ORIGINAL WARRANTY PERIOD OF 3 YEAR/36000 MILES. WE HAVE HAD THE ISSUE(S) FIXED BUT THERE IS NOTHING TO PREVENT IT FROM HAPPENING AGAIN. TOOK IT BACK IN SEVERAL WEEKS LATER DEMANDING THEY FIX THE PROBLEM. TOOK A TEST DRIVE WITH THE TECHNICIAN. PROBLEM DID NOT REOCCUR. I GOT OUT. THE TECHNICIAN STARTED THE CAR TO PULL IT IN THE SHOP AND THE WARNING CAME ON. THEY TRACED THE PROBLEM TO A SENSOR. THE SENSOR IS NOT AVAILABLE AND IS ON BACKORDER. I HAVE A 2017 NISSAN MURANO. I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 12 IN THE AFTERNOON WHEN WE HEARD A LOUD EXPLOSION ON THE ROOF OF THE CAR. THE SUNROOF GLASS AND HEADLINER WERE BOTH CLOSED. I SLIGHTLY OPENED THE HEADLINER AND COULD SEE THE GLASS WAS SHATTERED. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND LOOKED ON TOP OF THE CAR TO FIND THE FRONT SECTION OF THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF HAD COMPLETELY EXPLODED AND WAS SHATTER. THE GLASS WAS ACTUALLY PROTRUDING UPWARD SO IT WAS OBVIOUS NOTHING HAD FALLING FROM THE SKY ON TOP OF IT. THE GLASS, THEN GAVE WAY AND COMPLETELY FELL ON THE FABRIC HEADLINER. WE THEN SPENT THE NEXT HOUR AND A HALF ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY WAITING FOR A TOW TRUCK WHERE THE VEHICLES WAS THEN TOWED TO A NISSAN DEALER. AT THE TIME OF INCIDENT, IT WAS 75 DEGREES OUTSIDE AND CLEAR DAY. I WAS DRIVING 55 MILES PER HOUR.
