Defect Description:
VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
Potential Consequences:
While driving home from work, the Nissan went from 50mph, suddenly down to 4mph. (literally 4mph) Pressing the gas down all the way would not allow the car to move any faster. It would occasionally get up to 15mph, but wouldn't stay. I was LUCKY beyond belief that a car or semi didn't hit me at highway speed before I could move over in rush hour traffic. Both the local dealership and Nissan USA executive offices concluded that this does not fall within the extended warranty forced on them by the NTHSA for many, many similar incidents. The dealer, asking like it was an oil change, asked if I wanted a new $9k transmission. As I can't afford anywhere near that, nor is the car worth it, I was required to drive it home from the dealership, again putting my life at risk. IN ADDITION - a recall repair was requested (the driver door wiring harness) - and the dealership told me that it was completed. They did not complete this recall either. Nissan should not be allowed to make vehicles in the USA. If they actually stood behind their product and made repairs and replacements when there are manufacturing issues, I would feel much better about the situation. For now- I want to ensure no one I care about actually dies from driving a Nissan.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER
Potential Consequences:
I was driving down the road and suddenly my back right passenger window imploded, it sounded like a gunshot going off it was so loud and sudden. There had been no previous damage to the window and I was on a completely paved road with no construction or other vehicles near for anything to have hit the window. The glass went inside all over my back seat and even into the trunk area, if my children had been in the backseat they could have been seriously injured and I could have swerved due to being startled but luckily I was able to safely pull over. I took it to the Nissan dealership to see if they could inspect it to see if it was a defect or fault of the vehicle and they told me there was nothing they could do that I would just need to file a claim with my insurance.

Defect Description:
POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
The vehicle began experiencing difficulties accelerating especially in instances where acceleration was necessary as in merging onto highways. The car began jerking through acceleration and consequently revving sporadically. I took the vehicle in and was informed the entire transmission needs to be replaced. The car is just passed the warranty in both mileage and the year so the dealership offered no assistance.

Defect Description:
SUSPENSION
Potential Consequences:
The left rear suspension arm has failed. This part supports the left rear tire and wheel assembly and its failure cause the left rear tire and wheel to tilt to about a 45 degree angle. The car was able to be safely stopped, although control was severely effected. Continued driving would likely have caused the tire and wheel to separate from the vehicle. See attached photo. It appears as if the rear suspension arm welds have broken and or the part has failed due to corrosion. It is a 2016 vehicle with only 105,000 miles. See attached photos. The last photo shows the right rear suspension link, undamaged, to illustrate the extent of degradation on the left side. The Girard Nissan dealership in Groton, CT informed me they have seen a number of cars with this problem, but there has been no recall. The provided a verbal order of magnitude estimate to repair the vehicle, based on photos, at $4,000 or higher.

Defect Description:
SUSPENSION
Potential Consequences:
In September 2023, my 2016 Nissan started vibrating with noise. It was not shortly after that a warning appeared on the console. The warning, "Chassis Control System Error" caused research as the vehicle worsened. As I was driving, a warning of the brakes shutting down appeared. I returned home in time, and parked the vehicle. The truck was then sent to the mechanic where I was told that the transmission failed. The CVT failed at 83,000 miles. The vehicle is currently at a Nissan dealership service department, while I'm in the process of litigation with Nissan North America, Inc. Nissan offered just $1500.00 towards an estimated $6000 CVT repair bill. This problem is an extension of the 2022 Class Action Lawsuit that needs to be re-established. Nissan manufactured the vehicles with the knowledge of the defective CVT and did not make the consumers aware of the defect. Nissan dealerships also needs to be held accountable for their knowledge of the fraudulent act of Nissan to the consumers. Dealerships sold the vehicles also with the knowledge of the defective CVT. Nissan manipulated the law with a bogus extended warranty that protects Nissan from having to correct the wrong.
