Safety Issue:
Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2016-2018 Nissan Titan, 2016 and 2018 Nissan Titan XD vehicles. Accessories installed on these vehicles reduced the load carrying capacity, however, a Load Carrying Capacity modification label was not installed, possibly allowing the vehicle to be overloaded. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Nissan Titan Crew Cab and Titan XD Crew Cab vehicles. In the event of a crash, the rear seatbelt assembly may not adequately protect the occupant's head, allowing it to contact the D-ring bolt trim cap. As such, these vehicles fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 201, "Occupant Protection in Interior Impact."

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain model year 2016 Titan Diesel XD vehicles manufactured August 7, 2015, to September 1, 2016. The affected vehicles may not have had the temporary fuel tank breather tube cap removed during the vehicle's assembly and the fuel tank breather tube may not have been connected to the bed rail. As a result, the fuel tank may not have the proper ventilation, possibly causing the fuel gauge and the distance to empty meter to both display inaccurately.

Potential Consequences:
WITH VEHICLE STOPPED, ENGINE OFF, THE DOORS WOULD NOT OPEN FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE. ALL FOUR DOORS ARE SUPPOSED TO AUTOMATICALLY UNLOCK, BUT DID NOT DO SO. I ATTEMPTED TO USE THE DOOR MOUNTED CONTROLS, BUT THE DOORS DID NOT UNLOCK. I TRIED TO MANUALLY UNLOCK THE DOORS USING THE DOOR LOCKS IN THE ARMREST, BUT THE DOORS WOULD NOT OPEN. I ATTEMPTED TO USE THE KEY FOB REMOTE CONTROL, BUT DOORS DID NOT UNLOCK. THE DOOR LOCK LEVERS WOULD FLIP FROM THE LOCKED TO UNLOCKED POSITION, BUT THE DOORS WOULD NOT OPEN. I STARTED AND STOPPED THE ENGINE TO RESET THE DOOR LOCKS, BUT THE DOORS DID NOT UNLOCK. I LOWERED THE SIDE WINDOW AND ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE DRIVERS DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE, BUT THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN. I REPEATED THE ABOVE ACTIONS SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO SUCCESS. A PASSERBY WAS ABLE TO OPEN THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR FROM OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. I WAS JUST RECENTLY TOLD BY A MECHANIC THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN AN ACCIDENT PRIOR TO THE LEASE. THE DEALER DID NOT TELL ME THAT IT WAS IN AN ACCIDENT. SHOULD I HAVE BEEN TOLD OF THE ACCIDENT PRIOR TO SIGNING THE LEASE PAPERS? I MIGHT HAVE BACKED OUT OF THE LEASE IF I KNEW ABOUT THE ACCIDENT.

ON OCT 7 2016 I WAS DRIVING UP A WINDING MOUNTAIN CANYON ROAD AT ABOUT 45 TO TO 50 MPH I WAS ON AN INSIDE TURN WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE TRUCK JUST JUMPED INTO THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC LANE , I WAS ABLE TO GET IT UNDER CONTROL AND PULLED OFF ONTO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, LUCKILY NO ONE WAS COMING THE OTHER WAY AT THAT TIME ,OR THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT AS IT JUMPED 3 OR 4 FEET INTO THE ONCOMING LANE . I VISUALLY INSPECTED UNDER WHAT I COULD SEE OF THE STEERING AND SUSPENSION SAW NOTHING AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE SLOWLY TO THE NEAREST TOWN BUT THE STEERING WAS REALLY SLOPPY SO HAD IT TOWED FROM THERE TO A NISSAN DEALER,FILED A COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS, CASE #28569379. THEY SENT ENGINEERS FROM THE MANUFACTURING PLANT THEN I NEVER HEARD FROM THEM AGAIN.THE MECHANIC AT THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THE PITTMAN ARM HAD COME LOOSE FROM THE CENTER LINK AND THEY FIXED IT TO MY SATISFACTION BUT I DONT BELIEVE NISSAN IS GIVING THE MATTER THE ATTENTION IT DESERVES AS MY EXPERIENCE COULD EASILY HAVE ENDED IN AN INJURY/DEATH TYPE OF ACCIDENT, HAD TRAFFIC BEEN COMING THE OTHER WAY OR HAD I BEEN ON AN OUTSIDE TURN THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A CRASH OR POSSIBLY A LONG FALL TO THE STREAM BED BELOW. I VISUALLY INSPECTED UNDER WHAT I COULD SEE OF THE STEERING AND SUSPENSION SAW NOTHING AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE SLOWLY TO THE NEAREST TOWN BUT THE STEERING WAS REALLY SLOPPY SO HAD IT TOWED FROM THERE TO A NISSAN DEALER,FILED A COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS, CASE #28569379.
