Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2024 RAV4 and 2025 Lexus NX vehicles. Some of the bolts that secure the front brake caliper and the wheel hub bearing may be loose, which can result in a damaged caliper brake hose or possible wheel detachment.

STEERING
Potential Consequences:
This is a follow up of an incident reported on 3/30/2025, after the vehicle was driven approximately 30 miles in the rain, then stopped for 5 to 10 minutes idling with windshield wipers on intermittent setting. Engine began to shudder, engine rpms increased/decreased erratically as the engine shook. The vehicle was turned off. After approximately 5 minutes, restarted vehicle and engine again ran erratically and then stalled, displaying “Engine Stopped, Steering Power Low” on the message center in the driver’s display. After the engine stalled, the vehicle would not restart and had to be towed. After being towed, the vehicle started and ran smooth. A short while later, the vehicle was started but again ran erratically, but did not stall right away and was turned off. The next day, 3/31/2025, the vehicle was taken to the dealership service department. The dealer stated that there were no diagnostic trouble codes stored in the vehicle computer, the battery was good condition, and the charging system was operating normally. They had no explanation for what happened. The service advisor suggested that when the gas tank was filled, it was overfilled after the gas pump clicked off. This, in fact is not the case. The gas tank was not overfilled. The service advisor was informed that there are other complaints online by other owners of the same symptoms under similar weather conditions while the vehicle is idling. The advisor stated that if it happens again, have it towed to the dealership service department

Today on 4/1/2025 while driving home, the roads were wet/slushy, it was actively rain/sleeting outside. During the drive, my lane assist and front impact assist was disabled due what the dash read of "sensor blocked" or somthing similar. I got home minutes later and pulled into my garage, put my car in park and sat with it idling in park for about 2-3 minutes, at that time, is when I felt it start to shake a little bit and then it shut off by itself. A warning popped up on my dash that read "engine stopped, steering power low".
Corrective Action:

I then put the car in park, with the wipers still on intermittent setting and the engine still running. After sitting in park like this for approximately 5 minutes, the engine began to shudder, with engine RPMs decreasing and increasing erratically, and the engine was also shaking as the RPMs increased and decreased. I then turned the car off for approximately 5 minutes. Potential Consequences:
Car was stationary in a fast food drive-thru. The car started shuddering/idling funny and rpm needle was jumping a bit. Turned the car off and tried to turn it back on and the car would not crank. (I then had to put the car in Neutral and have some workers at the restaurant push my car out of the drive-thru). After about 5 minutes of sitting in the parking lot, the car finally cranked and I was able to drive it home normally. This happened after a heavy rain. Message on the dash said something like "Engine off Power Steering Low."
Corrective Action:
Car was stationary in a fast food drive-thru. The car started shuddering/idling funny and rpm needle was jumping a bit. Turned the car off and tried to turn it back on and the car would not crank. (I then had to put the car in Neutral and have some workers at the restaurant push my car out of the drive-thru). The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle, and the vehicle responded as needed. The contact stated that the engine shut off and the power steering fluid was low. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, but no fault codes were retrieved, and the battery was in good condition. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 13,048.

The forward panel of the panoramic sunroof on my 2024 Toyota hybrid XSE spontaneously imploded. There was not impact from a rock or other object, no potholes or other defects in the road, and this did not occur under overpass. The car is less than 1 year old and it appears to be a common occurrence in similar models over the last few years. Toyota denies that this a defect in their materials or manufacturing and continues to insist that each instance of the panoramic sunroof must have been caused by outside factors.

Potential Consequences:
I noticed at 3 thousand miles my abs light would come on and the abs would kick in and hear a grinding noise when braking over a slight dip in the road and entering a parking lot (breaking on incline slope or decline slope. I brought it into the Toyota dealership and they said they looked at everything (only 5 minutes) and nothing was wrong with brakes. The abs kicking in while braking on dry pavement has never gone away. At about 28,000 miles, i started to hear a brake squeaking noise coming from the front drivers side tire while braking at slow speeds, and when backing up. It came and went and now it is consistent and does it all the time and also squeaking when not breaking and turning to the right. I had a mechanic remove my tire and he said the bolt to the brake caliper is loose and the caliper itself is loose and that the brake pads are fine. I am now seeing there is a safety recall for this exact complaint for my exact car, Toyota rav4 hybrid 2024 , however, when checking if my vechile is part of the recall, by entering my VIN #, it says my vehicle is not part of this recall. This needs to be addressed and fixed by Toyota as this is a manufacturing defect. A caliper bolt should not come loose on its own if properly installed.

At about 28,000 miles, i started to hear a brake squeaking noise coming from the front drivers side tire while braking at slow speeds, and when backing up. I am now seeing there is a safety recall for this exact complaint for my exact car, Toyota rav4 hybrid 2024 , however, when checking if my vechile is part of the recall, by entering my VIN #, it says my vehicle is not part of this recall. This needs to be addressed and fixed by Toyota as this is a manufacturing defect. A caliper bolt should not come loose on its own if properly installed.

Error message that came up was “Engine Stopped Sterring Power Low” This is a brand new car just bought last year. We kept trying to turn car on and error message kept coming up. Waited for tow truck and car ended up turning on. Looked online and it seems a lot of other people are having the same issue in the rain.
