Defect Description:
FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Potential Consequences:
The car has now had five instances of phantom braking. The first time, I was in the left turning lane. A light rail type train was to the left. I was stopped waiting for the light to turn green. When the light turned green and the car in front of me started moving, I removed my foot from the brake and began to accelerate. I moved forward about 10 feet and the automatic braking system engaged at the car was stopped. There was no object or person in the path of the car. I went to accelerate again and the same thing happened. Both the passenger in the car and I were stumped. We’d never seen this happen before. The third time this happened, I was pulling into a driveway with a slight slope. There was a fence to the left and it was raining. When I was 1/2 way into the driveway, the car screeched to a stop. I’ve pulled into this driveway numerous times and this was the first phantom stop. I tried to accelerate again and it again stopped itself. Most recently (earlier this week) was the most worrisome because I was actually driving a bit faster. There were no cars, objects or people anywhere. I was going perhaps 5 mph and the car slammed to a halt. I thought the common factor was low speed and an object like the light rail or fence to the left like in the previous four instances. But, that was not the case here and it was far scarier.

Defect Description:
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
Last month I ran out of battery before getting home when the weather was 15 degrees and windy. Without my knowledge the vehicle was heating the battery significantly reducing the remaining range, no vehicle indicator warning that the vehicle was conditioning the battery. I realized what was happening when I turned on outside venting without using heat to defrost the window and the air was hot, if I was new to the vehicle or on my first trip I would have been stranded in an area where there may not have been a place to pull off the highway. I decided to report this in case it can save even one person’s life, there is an increased danger and liability not knowing this information. As most people, I set the cruise and pay attention to the road so majority of the time you don’t see the unknown increases in the kW usage, an update should be required to show an alarm of some sort and the additional active kW consumption and expected range deduction when the vehicle is doing any kind of conditioning (heating, cooling, or maintenance). There is a battery maintenance % view that should be modified to accommodate this.

SERVICE BRAKES
Potential Consequences:
I was driving normally at low-to-moderate speed when the brake -- or emergency brake, I'm not sure -- engaged for a moment all by itself, thrusting me forward unexpectedly. There was no "beeping" to indicate that there was any car, object or person in my way. It was temporary but terrifying. Fortunately, I was not rear-ended. This is the second time this has happened. I didn't report it at the time, but today, it happened again (I will report it under a separate incident) so this is clearly an ongoing issue.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Potential Consequences:
My husband was driving (I was the passenger). We were driving down the road normally, straight ahead,, not too close to anyone else, when suddenly the brake (or emergency brake, which is what it sounded like to me) engaged out of nowhere, throwing us forward. (My husband's foot was on the accelerator pedal, not the brake pedal.) Unlike the last two times this happened, this time the car did "beep" as if there was a potential collision, except there truly was not. We weren't going fast and had good distance from the car in front of us. Just a normal drive. Like the previous two incidents, the system corrected itself within a second or two and let us continue, but it's terrifying because the car had a mind of its own. Again, fortunately, no one rear-ended us, but it definitely could have happened if the car behind us was closer.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
Potential Consequences:
One pedal speed control was used to slow down and stop the car approaching a busy intersection. The car came to a complete stop and was idle at the intersection. While stopped at the red light, the car suddenly accelerated into oncoming traffic and was directly heading towards a head-on collision. The driver turned the car to the left, avoiding injury, however, a party in the other vehicle was injured. The Chevy Bolt received extensive damage and was totaled. The police filed a report and the insurance company inspected the vehicle and has taken possession of the vehicle.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING
Potential Consequences:
Brake light problems, i.e., the brake and turn signal lights are mounted on the bumper. TOO low and dangerous. Trucks and pickups especially DO NOT see these low mounted lights. I've been almost rear-ended when stopping on numerous occasions. Drivers expect to see lights at line of sight NOT at the bottom of a vehicle. The earlier versions of the Boldt had the lights higher, why this poor design? It may be legal but certainly not acceptable in today's world. This is a SAFETY issue and unacceptable. Owners are rewiring their cars (see Chevy Boldt Forum or YouTube videos) which should not have to be done on a new 2023 vehicle.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
Potential Consequences:
Adaptive cruise failed just over 2k miles following another vehicle under 60mph and sped up to set cruise of 75 and would have hit the truck if I didn’t stop it, I took video of failure directly after the incident. First bolt EUV camera failed more than once even after it was replaced, that car was bought back under battery recall. My point is, it’s a continued issue. With lane keep assist you must always be prepared for it not to function, it doesn’t always work and have to cycle the on/off button (same with previous EUV too). While in super cruise in my current vehicle it tried to locate the left lane but a big rig was on the line and my car appeared it was going to hit the truck multiple times within a few seconds as each time I had to bring the car back to the center until I turned it off. I have parts on order but I personally don’t believe that will be the end of based upon my two vehicles.

LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST

Defect Description:
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
Near my work place, I drove by that intersection a numerous times. One day, when I almost finished making the left turn, it suddenly gave me collision warning and suddenly took brake on the left front wheel by itself for about 1 second. There was nothing in front of me.

Defect Description:
FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
While merging onto a highway with a 60 mph speed limit, we got an error message that there was a propulsion system error and our speed was limited to 30 mph. Our car slowed down and could not accelerate. There was no warning before the speed was limited and no way to change course. It was Saturday night Nov. 25th and we had our one and half year old daughter in the backseat. Thank god my husband was able to react quickly and that there was shoulder for us to pull over on. Honestly we could have been killed or seriously injured. It’s a huge safety issue that the car will suddenly, without any warning, prevent you from going above a certain speed. The purpose is to protect the car, as I understand it, but there should at the very least be a countdown. I’m incredibly grateful I can report this to and that there wasn’t a tragic accident, but if this how this feature operates, it only a matter of time before there is one. Also there is less than 1000 miles on our car.
