FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
LIKE OTHERS, INCLUDING THE INCIDENT IN RANCHO CUCOMONGA, CA ON THE SAME DAY, APRIL 25TH, I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT HIGH SPEED. I WAS IN THE CARPOOL LANE ON THE 210 FREEWAY. I THINK I ALSO WAS TOLD TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK. I LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE ON AT A VERY DANGEROUS TIME, WHILE I WAS THE FURTHEST TO THE LEFT IN THE LATE AFTERNOON. MIRACULOUSLY, THERE WAS ONLY 1 CAR QUITE FAR BEHIND ME. SO, AFTER DECELERATION WAS FORCED UPON MY CAR, I BEGAN TO STEER THE CAR TO THE RIGHT THROUGH 5 LANES - ONE OF THE WIDEST PARTS OF THE HIGHWAY AT THAT POINT. HERE IS WHAT I NOW THINK. I HAVE BEEN THROUGH LOSS OF POWER IN MY 2014 VOLT. I HAD ACCIDENTALLY TURNED IT OFF WHILE BEING ON THE HIGHWAY. THEY FIXED THAT DESIGN FLAW IN THIS 2017 MODEL. I HAVE SHARED MY THEORY WITH GM. GM/CHEVY HAS 3-WAY CALLED ME WITH THE "STOLEN VEHICLES DEPT". THEY AGGRESSIVELY DESCRIBE HOW THEY WON'T ISSUE A SLOW-DOWN THROUGH THE ON-STAR UNLESS THEY HAVE A REQUEST THROUGH POLICE, THE POLICE ARE BEHIND, THE LIGHTS BLINK, ETC. BUT, THEY'RE RELUCTANT TO SHARE WHAT HAPPENS NEXT. THEY'VE BEEN RELUCTANT TO SHARE HOW THEY TRACK YOUR VEHICLE THROUGH THE VIN AND GPS TRACKING. AFTER 16 DAYS I GOT MY CAR BACK. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE TWICE. THE FIRST REPLACEMENT FAILED WITHIN A 1 MILE TEST DRIVE BY THE MECHANIC.

WHILE DRIVING TO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET MY CAR SERVICED FOR NEARLY STALLING AT A STOP LIGHT MY CAR ENGINE KEPT TURNING ON AND OFF AND REVVING UP AND DOWN RANDOMLY. I WAS IN ELECTRIC MODE AND THE ENGINE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN COMING ON. THE CAR'S SPEED RANDOMLY FLUCTUATED AS THE ENGINE RANDOMLY REVVED UP AND DOWN. I PULLED IN TO A GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT WHERE MY CAR DIED. BEFORE DYING THE GAS RANGE INDICATOR CHANGED FROM 87 MILES TO 'LOW FUEL'. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED. AFTER 16 DAYS I GOT MY CAR BACK. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE TWICE. THE FIRST REPLACEMENT FAILED WITHIN A 1 MILE TEST DRIVE BY THE MECHANIC.

WHILE DRIVING MY 3 YEAR OLD SON TO SCHOOL MY VOLT LOST PROPULSION WHILE SLOWING DOWN FOR A RED LIGHT. THE CAR DISPLAYED A "LOSS OF PROPULSION" WARNING AND WITHIN 3 SECONDS MY CAR HAD NO POWER AND WAS DEAD IN THE ROAD. THE VOLT IS A HYBRID AND IT LOST PROPULSION WHILE IN ELECTRIC MODE. AFTER THE CAR STOPPED I TRIED TURNING IT OFF AND ON AND I TRIED TO FORCE IT TO RUN IN GAS ENGINE MODE BUT NOTHING WORKED. MY CAR WAS TOWED TO A CHEVY DEALERSHIP WHERE IT TOOK 31 DAYS TO DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR. GM WAS CALLED IN TO HELP DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND THEY TOLD THE DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION. IN THE VOLT THE TRANSMISSION ALSO CONTAINS TWO DRIVE MOTORS.
