Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2013-2019 Escape, 2013-2018 C-Max, 2013-2016 Fusion, 2013-2021 Transit Connect, and 2015-2018 Edge vehicles. The bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission may degrade or detach.

Potential Risk:
A damaged or missing bushing may prevent the vehicle from shifting into the intended gear, and cause the vehicle to move in an unexpected direction. Additionally, the vehicle may roll after the driver selects the 'Park' position. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash or injury.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will replace the under hood shift bushing and add a protective cap over the shift cable bushing, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters, informing owners of the safety risk, were mailed July 1, 2022. Remedy parts are expected to be available in 4th Quarter 2022. Owner notification letters were mailed October 27, 2022. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 22S43.

Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2015-2018 Ford Edge and 2016-2018 Lincoln MKX vehicles. The front brake hoses may rupture prematurely.

Potential Risk:
A ruptured front brake hose will cause a brake fluid leak, lengthening the distance needed to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front brake hoses with the new hoses that have a revised braid material, free of charge. Parts are not currently available. An interim letter notifying owners of the safety risk was mailed September 21, 2020. A second letter will be sent once parts are available, which is expected to begin April 15, 2021. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 13, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S42.

Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Ford Edge and 2017 Lincoln MKZ vehicles. On vehicles with 2.0L gas engines and six-speed automatic transmissions, the torque converter weld studs may have been inadequately welded.

Potential Risk:
If the torque converter weld studs fail, the torque converter will not be connected to the engine flexplate and the vehicle will lose the ability to move, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the torque converters, free of charge. The recall began on July 5, 2018. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 17S16 (S2). Note: This recall is an expansion of recall 17V-427.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017 Lincoln MKZ and Ford Edge and Fusion vehicles. On vehicles with 2.0L gas engines and six-speed automatic transmissions, the torque converter weld studs may have been inadequately welded.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017 Edge vehicles equipped with the optional Panoramic Vista Roof. These vehicles may have an improperly welded windshield header, reducing the vehicle's lateral structural integrity. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 214, "Side Impact Protection."

Potential Risk:
If the vehicle has reduced lateral structural integrity, the occupants are at an increased risk of injury in the event of a side-impact crash.
FREE Recall Solution:

Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles and 2017 Lincoln Continental vehicles. In the event of a crash, the driver's frontal air bag may not fully inflate or the air bag cushion may detach from the air bag module. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."

Potential Risk:
During deployment, if the air bag does not fully inflate or the cushion detaches, there is an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver frontal air bag module, free of charge. The recall began June 16, 2017. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 17C02.

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AT 41200 MILES. COMPUTER SAYS P0303 MISFIRE. CAR IDLES IN PARK. DRIVES HARD. KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE 2017 FORD EDGE APPARENTLY MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE. LUCKILY MY CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, AND THEY'VE AGREED TO COVER THE FULL COST OF AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT. OTHERS NOT WO LUCKY. FORD KNOWS THIS IS AN ISSUE AND CHARGING 10 GRAND TO REPAIR WHEN ITS REALLY AT NO FAULT OF THE CONSUMERS OWN. IM SCARED TO EVEN GET MY CAR BACK IF THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN AND AGAIN AFTER MY WARRANTY IS UP. FORD REALLY SHOULD CORRECT THIS KNOW ISSUE ON ALL 2017 EDGES WHERE COOLANT IS LEAKING INTO THE PISTONS CAUSING MISFIRE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT.

THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK THE CAR TO OUR LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE SECOND CYLINDER IS MISFIRING DUE TO COOLANT LEAKING INTO THE CYLINDER. THEY HAVE TOLD ME THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED USING A NEW LONG BLOCK AT 103,002 MILES.

Corrective Action:

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MCLARTY DANIEL FORD LINCOLN (2609 S WALTON BLVD, BENTONVILLE, AR 72712) WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER WAS DEFECTIVE AND THAT THE ENGINE ALSO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 83,000.

THERE IS COOLANT LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE ON A CONSISTENT BASIS. I HAVE TO REPLACE THE COOLANT DAILY, AND IF NOT, THE CAR OVERHEATS MAKING IT A HAZARD ON THE ROADS. FORD IS AWARE THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURER'S ISSUE BUT REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT IT SHOULD BE A RECALL. WE IMMEDIATELY CALLED NEWBERG FORD AND MADE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT. WE TOOK IT IN AND AFTER A DAY IN A HALF WERE TOLD THAT IT WAS INDEED AN ENGINE DEFECT AND THE ENGINE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. WE WERE ALSO TOLD THAT WE SHOULD NOT DRIVE THIS VEHICLE AS IT COULD FAIL WHILE DRIVING. THANK GOD WE DID NOT FOLLOW THEIR FIRST ADVICE THAT IT WOULD BE FINE TO DRIVE! AT FIRST, THEY TOLD US IT WAS GOING TO COST US OVER $8000 TO REPAIR. WE WERE DEVASTATED. WHILE WE STILL OWED SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS ON THE CAR, WE REALLY DID NOT HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY! WE COULDN'T NOT FIX IT AS IT IS A DAILY DRIVER. FORTUNATELY, THE DEALERSHIP CAME UP WITH A LOWER COST TO REPAIR IT, WHICH WAS WEIRD, BUT WE WERE ABLE TO FINANCE IT TO GET THE WORK DONE. IN JUNE 2020 THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WE CALLED OUR LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO LOOK AT IT FOR A FEW DAYS, BUT WAS TOLD IT WOULD BE FINE TO DRIVE. WE NEEDED THE CAR TO GET TO WORK AND BACK SO WE TOOK IT IN TO HAVE IT CHECKED WITH ANOTHER REPUTABLE SERVICE PROVIDER. HE INFORMED US THAT WE DEFIANTLY NEEDED TO TAKE IT TO OUR LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AS THE CODE IT WAS THROWING WAS A MAJOR ENGINE PROBLEM.THE CODES WERE P0301-P0304, WHICH IS A DEFECT IN THE ENGINE WHICH WILL ALLOW COOLANT INTRUSION INTO THE CYLINDERS. HE TOLD US THAT THERE WAS TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN, COPY INCLUDED WITH THIS LETTER, ON THIS VEHICLE AND THAT THE ENGINE MOST LIKELY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED.
