Defect Description:
STEERING
Potential Consequences:
•Steering assist fault and yes it is available to inspect •Power steering went out while driving. Could not turn properly as vehicle was hard to turn wheel and was almost hit on icy road. Had two children and pregnant wife in vehicle with me. •Problem is continuous and has been verified by dealer as well as an independent service center. •It has been inspected by local Ford dealership •No there were no prior warnings. It just happened when driving and now happens every time on startup. No power steering. This began in November 2022. We have been patiently waiting on Ford to receive these parts as it's been confirmed that there is a failure in the power steering module. There is no update or time frame for receiving parts and getting a repair. After searching for answers it seems this has happened to many others with these same year Expeditions and F-150

Defect Description:
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
We own a 2016 Expedition King Ranch Edition which we purchased new in 2016. Last September we received a recall notice on the air conditioner blower motor. Three or four days after we received the notice, our blower motor failed. We took the car to Wichita Falls Ford in Wichita Falls, Tx, which is where we normally have it serviced. They did not have the recall replacement parts at that time, and so replaced it using the original parts that they were able to obtain. About six weeks later, that blower motor also failed. They told us they were no longer able to obtain the original parts and that the recall replacement parts were still not available. We use air conditioning year round here in Texas, but we were able to get through the winter without too much discomfort. However, seven months later and apparently parts are STILL not available. The car is pretty much useless to us for the foreseeable future, now that summer temps are upon us. Are we the only ones in this predicament? I ask because it doesn’t seem to us to be a priority for Ford to come up with this part. I contacted Ford through online chat and email a couple of weeks ago to no avail.

Bought the 2016 vehicle January 2017. Shortly after purchase I noticed slight bubbling in the paint on the edges of the hood and especially the bottom of the lift gate. It has progressed over the years and now the paint is coming off- a large piece off the front hood and all along the bottom of the lift gate. Ford has no recalls on it yet, but it's a well cared for vehicle, garaged at night and when not in use during the day. The paint should not be bubbling or coming off. Thank you- Suzanne

Potential Consequences:
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Expedition. The contact stated while driving 15 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop immediately. The contact activated the parking brake to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V150000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed the vehicle with brake master cylinder and brake booster failure. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed with hydraulic control unit failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact the vehicle was not covered under the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.

Defect Description:
ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
I was driving at ~40 mph and the car suddenly lost power and decelerated. The wrench dash light came on. The car was forced into limp mode. The p2112 code showed on my OBD scanner. The code indicates a throttle body actuator stuck closed. The car started to run very rough, was stuck in 2nd gear and would only do 5 mph. Upon turning off and restarting vehicle the wrench light turned off and the throttle response was normal. I will have to replace the throttle body at my expense as the car is past warranty. I will keep the part for inspection. The road was relatively empty so it did not cause an accident. In heavy traffic at highway speeds this might have caused an injury wreck. The sudden deceleration without any brake lights could easily result in a rear end collision. If the deceleration happened in the middle of an intersection, a side impact or offset front collision could be the result. I have multiple scan tools and am quite proficient at using them. I also have access to the ford service manuals for my vehicle. No one has inspected the part. The vehicle had no warning lamps prior to incident. The wrench light came on at the same time the car suddenly decelerated.

SERVICE BRAKES
Potential Consequences:
Multiple times while driving the vehicle I had trouble getting the brakes to work while driving and needing to slow down or coming to a complete stop. This almost resulted in an accident 2 times. We thought it was the current related to recall 22S11 which we had fixed already in July 2022. However, it is an issue that is not a reported recall at the moment. It is for the Hydrolic Control Unit. Ford will not replace this part at their cost and is forcing me to pay even though it is a major safety issue.

SERVICE BRAKES
Potential Consequences:
Hello, on a number of occasions (while driving on the highway and attempting a stop at a light) our brake system has gone unresponsive. It almost caused a collision the other day when I was approaching a red light. What happens is I push the brake, and then it almost feels like there is no resistance whatsoever and it goes soft, then I have to push very hard all the way down (pedal to the metal) on the brake to get it to stop. Ford tells me my vehicle is not part of this recall for brake issues, but it is just a little suspcious that I have the same kind of car where there is a brake recall issue. https://www.consumerreports.org/car-recalls-defects/ford-suv-pickup-recall-brake-concerns-a9762212717/#:~:text=Ford%20Recalls%20SUVs%20and%20Trucks%20With%203.5L%20Engine%20Due%20to%20Brake%20Concerns&text=Ford%20Motor%20Company%20is%20recalling,leak%2C%20eventually%20risking%20a%20crash. Recall #22S11 (22V150000). Did Ford accidentally leave my vehicle off this recall, or has this issue just not been discovered by Ford yet and I am the unlucky first person reporting an issue? This is very dangerous. We take long road trips very frequently in this vehicle.

Defect Description:
BACK OVER PREVENTION: SENSING SYSTEM: CAMERA
Potential Consequences:
The rear backup camera has failed 5 times, the last time after only 7 days. There is a recall out on this problem on other Ford Vehicles (i.e. F150, Expedition, etc.) but not my model year. This is an extreme safety issue as it makes the vehicle unsafe to backup. The blind spot with the Extended Length edition is probably about 20 plus feet using just the mirrors. I've repeatedly contacted Ford Customer Service and the Dealer, and it has yet to be resolved. In some cases, the Ford Customer Service person stopped communicating with me and closed out the Open Case without notice or action to resolve. In one case they wanted me to pay for more than half of the cost without any assurance that the problem was understood or a fix in place. The Dealership has investigated several times and determined that the problem is not with the wiring or the display, but with the camera. The issue appears to be with the design, manufacture, or failure of the components used not suitable for the environment (temperature, humidity or vibration). The fear is that someone will be injured, or a fatality will occur, at a minimum damage to other property and the vehicle. This is an untenable situation. Thank you for reviewing this and hopefully escalating this to the level of a recall. I'm sure based upon the review of other complaints on the internet that I'm not the only person with this safety issue.
