Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017-2018 F-150, Expedition, and Lincoln Navigator vehicles. The brake master cylinder may allow brake fluid to leak from the front wheel circuit into the brake booster.

FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will replace the brake master cylinder. If the master cylinder is leaking, the brake booster will also be replaced. Repairs will be performed free of charge. Recall Date: Mar 28, 2025
Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018-2020 Expedition and Lincoln Navigator vehicles. The seat belt pretensioner in the driver and/or front passenger seat may inadvertently lock the seat belt, which will not allow the belt to retract or extend.

Potential Risk:
Seat belts that do not retract or extend can fail to restrain an occupant as intended, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will inspect the seat belt retractor date codes and replace the seat belt retractors as necessary, free of charge. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed May 23, 2025. A second notice will be sent once the final remedy is available. The parts are anticipated to be available the third quarter of 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S31. NHTSA Campaign: 18V214000 SAFETY RECALL
292.9K Vehicles Affected
Recall Date: Apr 4, 2018
Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018 F-650 and F-750 vehicles equipped with 6-speed automatic transmissions and 2018 Ford F-150 and Expedition vehicles equipped with 10-speed automatic transmissions (excluding Expedition vehicles with a Rotary Gear Shift Dial on the console). The gear shift cable clip may not be properly seated, allowing the transmission to be in a different gear than indicated by the gear shift lever position.

Potential Risk:
If the gear shift cable clip becomes unseated or dislodged, the gear shift lever position may indicate that the transmission is in 'Park' when it may be in a different gear. Additionally, despite selecting 'Park', if the parking brake is not applied before the vehicle is exited, the vehicle may roll. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the shift cable locking clip and properly seat it, if necessary, free of charge. The recall began on April 13, 2018. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for the recall is 18S10.
Additional Details:

Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Ford F-150 and 2018 Ford Expedition and Mustang and Lincoln Navigator vehicles equipped with 10-speed automatic transmissions. A roll pin may not have been installed in the transmission, potentially causing a loss of the "Park" function.

Potential Risk:
Despite the transmission shift lever being placed in 'Park' and the instrument panel display indicating 'Park,' the vehicle may roll away after it has been exited if the parking brake has not been applied, increasing the risk of injury or a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the transmission to make sure it has the roll pin, installing one if it is missing, free of charge. The recall began on April 13, 2018. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 18S09.

Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator vehicles. The second row window control modules may intermittently stop the movement of the power window. If something, such as a finger, is pinched by the window glass, the stopped window control module may prevent the window from automatically reversing. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 118, "Power-Operated Window Systems."

Potential Risk:
If the window does not automatically reverse when an obstruction is found, it can increase the risk of injury.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the second row window electronic control modules, and replace them as necessary based on their build date codes, free of charge. The recall began on February 16, 2018. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 18C01.

Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018 Expedition vehicles. The second row outboard seats may have excessive forward adjustment capability and/or may have an improperly installed bolt that secures the seat back to the seat base. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 202a, "Head Restraints", number 207, "Seating Systems", and number 210, "Seat Belt Anchorage System."

Potential Risk:
If the seat back is not adequately secured, and/or the seat occupant is improperly positioned, there can be an increased risk of injury in a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the second row outboard seats for proper seat adjustment travel, replacing the seat frame assembly if necessary. Dealers will also inspect the bolts attaching the seat back to the seat base for the proper installation, correcting it as necessary. These repairs will be made free of charge. SERVICE BRAKES

Potential Consequences:

During a recent oil change at 14299 miles (04/28/2022), I was told that the rear brake pads were dangerously low and had to be replaced immediately. I previously had an oil change and inspection by the same dealership on 11/17/2021 (10986 miles) and 6/22/2021 at 8685 miles and the brakes were checked ok with no mention of any wear whatsoever. When I asked the service manager what could have caused such a rapid deterioration of the brake pads, I was given a shoulder shake and was told that they didn’t find a problem like calipers sticking and things just happen. This car new with only a couple hundred miles on it when we bought it from the same dealer. My concern is that, at this low mileage, I could have gone longer before I brought it in for an oil change and inspection and, if the pads were that bad, we could have been in a very serious accident. The dealership non-concern about the seriousness of the defect/problem is very concerning. The service facility was QuickLane at Jones Ford, 5757 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE USE OF THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS THE CAUSE OF THE BRAKE PADS' RAPID DETERIORATION.

When getting things out of the Rear Cargo area the Lift Gate has come down unexpectedly and hit Me in the head. Several times the Rear Lift gate randomly opens when exiting or entering the car. Has hit my spouse and has come close to hitting other person walking in back of the vehicle. The Lift Gate came open barely missing the vehicle parked behind it. Would of damaged both vehicles Renegade Super C $300,000 and the Ford Expedition $85,000 along with possibly pinning and injuring the person behind the vehicle. Took the vehicle to a Ford Dealer and they ran diagnostic tests and looked for any faults and found nothing. We feel like we are driving a ticking time bomb and just missing a bullet each time we go to use the vehicle. Need immediate attention-

Potential Consequences:

Ford had a recall on this vehicle for Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Reprogram For Cam Phaser Rattle. I returned this vehicle to the dealer on 1/19/20 (37,830 miles on vehicle) the "VCT phasers" were replaced when the parts came in (2/2020). Earlier this month the same "rattle" started again. Returned to dealer on 4/11/22, they reprogramed (21B10) and said it was repaired. It was not and I returned the vehicle to the dealer on 4/19/22. Ford has identified the "rattle" as the same problem, however they are stating that they are NOT responsible because the vehicle is now "out of warranty" (96,229 miles). How does that happen that a vehicle recall that Ford fails to repair in the first place is now not their responsibility to repair?!!!

ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

Ford has issued an extended warranty for an issue that is clearly a manufacturing issue within their 3.5 ecoboost engine, currently their program is for the replacement of the cam phasers, but they only replace them if the vehicle is under 70k miles on it, if it's pass that mileage the cost goes to the customer, which seems unfair practice as ford have stated that there is a fault with their cam phasers in the engine, but don't have to do a full recall because they give an "extended" warranty which if the vehicle is pass a certain mileage and of no fault of the customer they are allowed to pass the fault to the customers for a factory problem. This issue should be of concern as it can cause the vehicle to go off time and the engine to lock up and cause accidents, harm or even death.

WHEELS

Potential Consequences:

When trying to change a flat, the factory provided lug wrench would not go onto the factory lug nuts. I was able to get to the tire shop and was advised of an on going issue with the ford lug nuts “swelling “ which in turn would not allow me to remove them to change the tire. After further digging there seems to be many many complaints of this same issue. It was recommended to purchase new ones that were not a two piece design as the OEM Ford ones are. I was told that this could and most likely would continue to happen and could even cause the wheel to come off in worst case scenario. I had to pay 195 dollars for a new set cause I had no other choice being on the road and away from home or a dealership

Potential Consequences:

The auto start stop function failed to restart the engine in an intersection on three occasions. We entered the intersections waiting to make a left turn and the auto stop start turned the car off. When we picked up our foot off the break to complete the left turn and clear the intersection the auto stop start failed to restart the car. An error code came up that said "Auto Start/Stop Shift to P, then restart engine". We shifted to park and restarted the car to clear the intersection to blaring horns. Thankfully there wasn't an immediate need to clear the intersection due to oncoming traffic or we would have been clobbered.

Potential Consequences:

The contact owns a 2018 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that she noticed fluid leaking from the rear of the vehicle while parked. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer where she was informed that the passenger’s side shock needed to be replaced. The contact had also taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who confirmed the failure and gave her an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a claim was filed. The contact was referred to NHTSA for assistance. The contact stated that she only does city driving and that a failure of this magnitude should not have happened this soon on a newer vehicle. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000.

Vehicle has less that 40,000 miles on it. It has become almost uncontrollable if you hit any rough spots on the road. During the last oil change it was noted the rear shocks and struts were bad as well as the front struts. This is far to early for a vehicle to have these issues. It has never been off-road and only towed a small trailer one time.

Potential Consequences:

The aluminum caps on the lug nuts swell making them impossible to remove with the standard lug wrench. Rather than equipping the vehicles with quality single piece lug nuts instead they are cheap lugs nuts with flimsy caps that are prone to early and premature failure. When I got a flat tire I was unable to remove the lug nuts with the standard lug wrench provided. What should have been a straightforward 1/2 hour tire change ended up being an over 4 hour ordeal on the side of the road. The only way to remove the lugs nuts was with a damaged lug extractor tool which I did not have at the time. The only way to get the tire changed was pay for a tow and then have all 24 lug nuts removed and replaced with better quality single piece nuts at a specialty shop at my expense.
