The front driver seat track assembly's rear riser may have been improperly welded to the seat track rail, and as a result, the driver may not be adequately restrained in a crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 207, "Seating Systems" and 210, "Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages."

I WAS STOPPED AT A STORE AND AFTER I PLACED MY THINGS IN THE BACKSEAT, I WENT TO CLOSE MY REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND IT WOULD NOT CLOSE. THIS HAPPENED JANUARY 14TH, 2020. I WILL MENTION THAT MY 2016 FORD FUSION WAS PURCHASED IN SEPTEMBER 2016 WITH ONLY 17 MILES ON IT, BRAND NEW AT AN OVERSEAS MILITARY VEHICLE DEALERSHIP. MY VEHICLE CURRENTLY ONLY HAS 18,000 MILES ON IT. AS I HAVE NO ROPE OR TIES IN MY VEHICLE, I WAS LEFT WITH TWISTING MY ARM BEHIND THE DRIVER SEAT AND DRIVING HOME(INSTEAD OF MY DESTINATION) WITH MY ARM PAINFULLY TWISTED AROUND AS TO KEEP THE DOOR CLOSED ON THE ROAD TO NOT HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE WHEN I BRAKED OR TURNED. THE PROBLEM WAS WITH A FAULTY, AND DETACHED SHIFT CABLE. THERE HAVE BEEN OVER 500,000 FORD VEHICLES RECALLED FOR THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE. THIS WAS THE EXACT PROBLEM WITH OUR 2016 FORD FUSION WITH 88,101 MILES. WE JUST PLAYED A TOTAL OF $278 TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED AND THE PART REPLACED. FORD IS TELLING ME THAT OUR SPECIFIC VIN # WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL OF THE OTHER 500,000 VEHICLES THIS FAR. HOW CAN THIS COMPANY GET AWAY WITH THIS PROBLEM? WAS INFORMED BY THE SERVICE ADVISOR THAT THE LUG NUTS WERE SWOLLEN DUE TO THE TWO-PIECE DESIGN AND THAT THEY WOULD ALL NEED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS QUOTED $59 PER WHEEL WHICH I DECLINED. THE MIL'S WERE NOT LIT AND THE POWER STEERING ASSIST RETURNED. IN BOTH INSTANCES THE SAME CONDITION APPEARED ABOUT 20 MINUTES LATER, AND A ENGINE STOP/RE-START HAD TO BE PERFORMED. I HAVE INCLUDED PHOTOS OF THE DASHBOARD INFORMATION CENTER. THIS IS A 2016 FUSION WITH 65,000 MILES AND I BELIEVE THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING RACK.

WHILE DRIVING THE CAR ON BOTH THE HIGHWAY AND ON CITY STREETS THE STEERING LOCKED AND THE POWER ASSIST QUIT. THE MIL TRACTION CONTROL SYMBOL LIT AND THE WARNING CENTER SAID IT WAS DISABLED. THE MIL STEERING ASSIST CONTROL SYMBOL LIT AND THE WARNING CENTER SAID IT WAS DISABLED. IN BOTH DRIVING INSTANCES THE STEERING WHEEL WAS BEING TURNED FROM MODERATE (INTERSTATE HIGHWAY SPEED) TURNING TO SHARP TURNING (CITY STREET SPEED). IN BOTH INSTANCES I WAS ABLE TO AVOID HITTING CLOSE, SURROUNDING VEHICLES AND IN THE CASE OF THE CITY OCCURRENCE, PEDESTRIANS. IN BOTH INSTANCES I PULLED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND ACCESSORIES. I WAITED ABOUT A MINUTE AND PERFORMED AN ENGINE RE-START. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP JULY 8TH 2019 AFTER 2 WEEKS OF BEING UNABLE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG THEY CALL AND TELL ME I NEED TO PAY $3,340 TO REPLACE THE HEAD GASKET BECAUSE IT WAS BLOWN. I TOWED MY CAR TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC THAT WOULD FIX THE HEAD GASKET FOR HALF THE PRICE. ONCE IT WS THERE THE MECHANIC SAID THE HEAD GASKET WAS FINE AFTER $1,500 OF PARTS BEING REPLACED MY CAR STILL WOULDN'T RUN. I CONTACTED FORD CORPORATE FOR ASSISTANCE ON GETTING THE PROBLEM FIXED. MY CAR WAS TAKEN BACK TO BOB TOMES FORD THE ORIGINAL DEALER THAT SAID THE HEAD GASKET WAS BLOWN. THEY STILL INSISTED IT WAS THE HEAD GASKET AND CONTINUED TO ARGUE. ONCE CORPORATE CONTACTED THEM AND PAID FOR THE TEAR DOWN OF THE VEHICLE I WAS TOLD I NEEDED A WHOLE NEW ENGINE BECAUSE COOLANT LEAKING INTO THE CYLINDER. AFTER SPEAKING WITH OTHER DEALERSHIPS I WAS INFORMED THAT MY ENGINE IN MY FUSION HAS A DESIGN DEFECT CAUSING COOLANT TO LEAK INTO THE CYLINDER FORD IS AWARE OF THE DESIGN DEFECT AND CORRECTED THE DESIGN IN LATE 2017. HOWEVER THEY REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DAMAGES ON MY CAR. MY CAR IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY ANY LONGER SO THE COST OF THE REPAIR WOULD HAVE BEEN OVER $9,000 OUT OF POCKET.
