Safety Issue:

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) recalled certain 2019-2021 Tucson vehicles on September 4, 2020. On December 30, 2020, Hyundai expanded the recall population, and added certain 2016-2018 Tucson vehicles. The Anti-lock Brake Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU) could corrode internally and cause an electrical short, possibly resulting in an engine compartment fire.

Potential Risk:
An engine compartment fire can increase the risk of injury or crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will replace the HECU fuse. For 2019-2021 model years, the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) software will also be updated. Recall repairs will be performed free of charge. Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures as a precaution until the recall repair is complete. The recall began November 2, 2020. Safety Issue:

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Tucson vehicles manufactured May 19, 2015, to November 14, 2016, and 2017 Santa Fe vehicles manufactured November 28, 2015, to November 14, 2016. The affected vehicles may be equipped with an accessory trailer hitch wiring harness that, due to a malfunction of the tow hitch module, may result, in the trailer brake lights being constantly illuminated. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, " Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Potential Risk:
If the trailer brake lights stay illuminated while being used, other drivers may be confused, increasing the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will replace the affected accessory trailer hitch wiring harnesses, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin January 13, 2017. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-800-633-5151. Hyundai's number for this recall is 153.

Safety Issue:

Hyundai Motor Company (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2016 Tucson vehicles manufactured May 20, 2015 through May 31, 2016 and equipped with a 7-speed EcoShift Dual Clutch Transmission. Certain driving conditions and high temperatures may cause the vehicle to not move if the accelerator pedal is pressed and released repeatedly.

Potential Risk:
Inability to move the vehicle while in traffic may increase the risk of a crash.

Safety Issue:

Hyundai Motor Company (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2016 Tucson vehicles manufactured May 19, 2015 to March 14, 2016. In the affected vehicles, if the primary hood latch has been released, and the vehicle is driven, the secondary hood latch may not hold adequately secure the hood to prevent it from opening while the vehicle is in motion.

Potential Risk:
If the primary hood latch is inadvertently released and the secondary latch cannot secure the hood, the hood may unexpectedly open while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain model year 2016 Hyundai Tucson vehicles manufactured May 26, 2015 to January 15, 2016 and equipped with an accessory trailer hitch harness either included with the accessory trailer hitch or sold as a service part. In the affected vehicles, when the vehicle's engine is running and the brake lights are illuminated, if the turn signal is activated, the trailer turn signal lights will either turn off or remain continuously illuminated (not flash). As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard Number 108, " Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Potential Risk:
Failure to illuminate the trailer's turn signal lights would prevent the communication of the driver's intent, increasing the risk of a crash.

Potential Consequences:

ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AROUND TOWN OR COMMUTING TO WORK THIS CAR HAS NOT RESPONDED WHEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR. FROM A DEAD STOP OR WHEN MOVING SLOWLY THE RESPONSE IS UNPREDICTABLE. IT HAPPENS RANDOMLY. THIS WEEK THE CAR'S TRANSMISSION WARNING LIGHT CAME ON WHILE GOING UP AN INCLINE ON A COMMON CURVY NORTHERN CALIFORNIA ROAD. IT WAS A COOL EVENING. THIS IS A PAVED ROAD. NO OTHER CARS HAVING A PROBLEM. I HAD TO STOP THE CAR AND RESTART IT. THEN WHILE ACCELERATING THE CAR JUST STOPPED. NO POWER, NOTHING, DEAD IN THE ROAD. HAD TO WAIT AND RESTART. WHEN I PICKED UP MY CAR, I ASKED ABOUT THE SERVICE MANAGER ABOUT THE ISSUE GIVING THE NUMEROUS INTERNET COMPLAINTS. HE STATED IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND CURRENTLY HYUNDAI DOES NOT HAVE A FIX. LUCKILY MY FRIEND WAS ABLE TO PARK BEHIND ME WITH HER HAZARDS ON TOO, TO PREVENT PEOPLE FROM REAR-ENDING ME. THE CAR WOULD GO IN REVERSE BUT NOT FORWARD. WE PUSHED IT OUT OF THE ROAD INTO A PARKING LOT AND CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO A HYUNDAI DEALER, AND AFTER ABOUT AN HR OR SO THEY SAID THEY RESET THE COMPUTER AND IT SHOULD BE FINE. I HAD ALREADY HAD THE SOFTWARE UPDATE. I GOT THE CAR IN OCT 2015, AND AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT IT HAD 9800 MILES ON IT. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT NOW, IT GETS SLUGGISH OR REVS AT VARIOUS TIMES, WHICH MAKES ME THINK IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. INSTEAD THE ENGINE JUST REVVED AND RPMS WENT UP, BUT NO MOVEMENT FORWARD AND NO WARNING LIGHTS OR SOUNDS CAME ON. I IMMEDIATELY FLIPPED ON MY EMERGENCY FLASHERS AND TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO RESTART AND GO AGAIN, BUT TWO CARS CRASHED INTO EACH OTHER NEXT TO ME AS THEY TRIED TO GO AROUND ME. I SAT IN A PANIC IN TRAFFIC WITH PEOPLE HONKING AT ME AND FLIPPING ME OFF. THE CAR WOULDN'T DRIVE FORWARD, BUT IT WOULD GO IN REVERSE SO AS THE CARS CRASHED INTO EACH OTHER AND WERE COMING TOWARDS ME I DODGED GETTING HIT BY A FEW INCHES AND DROVE SLOWLY DOWN THE STREET IN REVERSE AND INTO A NEARBY PARKING LOT IN REVERSE. THEN I PARKED AND HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A DEALER. IN THE PARKING LOT I TOOK VIDEO EVIDENCE OF THE CAR NOT DRIVING FORWARD, BUT ABLE TO DRIVE IN REVERSE SO I DO HAVE VIDEO PROOF. THE CAR HAS ABOUT 5,500 MILES ON IT AND ALREADY HAD AN ECM RESET / ACTIVE TRANSMISSION RELEARN DONE AT ABOUT 1,000 MILES BACK IN JANUARY WHEN THE CAR WAS LAGGING THE FIRST MONTH I OWNED IT. MY CAR IS STILL AT THE DEALERSHIP AND FOR A CORRECTION THEY DID ANOTHER ACTIVE TRANSMISSION RELEARN/PROGRAMMING RESET AND SAY THE CAR WORKS AND IS FINE NOW AND READY TO PICK UP. I'M NOT COMFORTABLE DRIVING A CAR THAT'S BEEN IN TWICE FOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AND HAD THE SAME CORRECTION DONE. I DON'T FEEL CONFIDENT THIS WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN AND MOST ONLINE REPORTS I READ WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND CORRECTION SAY IT HAPPENS OVER AND OVER AGAIN. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH HYUNDAI CUSTOMER CARE. I'VE ALSO READ THERE IS A PART THAT MAY BE REPLACED AS A FIX (FP NUMBER 41470-2D011 ACTUATOR ASSY-CLU) AND POSSIBLY A RECALL COMING UP, BUT THE DEALER SAID I NEED TO WAIT FOR THE RECALL. IT WOULD BE GOOD TO EXPEDITE ANY FIX AND REPAIRS BEFORE MORE ACCIDENTS HAPPEN, DRIVING THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE FOR ME OR OTHER CARS AROUND ME.

I HAVE A 2016 HYUNDAI TUCSON LIMITED WHICH HAS A MAJOR ISSUE WITH THE LACK OF ACCELERATION FROM STOP. WHEN TRYING TO MOVE ONTO A HIGHWAY/ROAD FROM A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN WHEN YOU STEP ON THE GAS NOTHING HAPPENS THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT LURCHES AHEAD. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE SITUATION. WHEN YOU STEP ON THE GAS YOU EXPECT THE VEHICLE TO RESPOND AND IT DOES NOT. ALSO GOING THROUGH A PARKING LOT AND NOT REALLY ACCELERATING AT ALL IT LURCHES AND BACKS OFF AND LURCHES AND BACKS OFF. THEN WHEN YOU DO STEP ON THE GAS IT ALMOST QUITS THEN LURCHES. I'M TOLD ITS CAUSED BY THE MANUAL CELINOID WHICH CAUSES THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION TO ENGAGE. AT THE PRESENT TIME I'M NOT DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND HAVE A LOANER. HYUNDAI HAS SENT ME PAPERWORK TO BUY BACK THE VEHICLE BUT THEN I HAVE NOTHING WITH WHICH TO PURCHASE ANOTHER VEHICLE.
