Potential Consequences:
The sunroof glass exploded on a hot day while my wife and I were in the car traveling 55 mph with the air-conditioning on. The remaining glass edges were flared up and outward. The sunroof glass was fully closed and the cloth sun shade covered the glass. It was either improperly installed or the materials could not withstand the heat. Nothing impacted the glass. The glass could have cut & injured us badly or blinded us, causing an accident with another vehicle or property. I felt this was a manufacturer's defect, but Kia denied us a warranty repair. I have pictures of the large hole in the middle of the glass. The vehicle was driven to the dealer where it was available for inspection. My insurance was notified. There was no warning or symptoms of this problem.

Defect Description:
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
Originally this 2022 Kia EV6 on the dashboard was showing 225-230 miles at 100% charge. Then the dashboard charge at 100% showed only 180 miles. I got the Recall Notice about this matter, took it in to the Kia dealer. They did a software download and then the dashboard charge at 100% showed 195 miles. I took it back and Kia did another software download, then the dashboard charge at 100% showed 205 miles. Kia declared my EV6 was fixed. I have driven it only 10,000 miles !!!! The software download did NOT fix the problem because it is still not showing the pre-software problem charge at 225 miles. This is a 10% loss of range

Defect Description:
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
The 12v battery in my vehicle failed due to the known ICCU issue. The dealership has the battery and has since replaced it. I do not know if they keep it for their records or not. My family's safety was put at risk due to the unpredictable timing of the failure, we were parked (thankfully) but there was a massive thunderstorm headed our way and we had to hunker down while waiting for a tow truck and a ride. This issue has been reproduced & confirmed by dealerships and other EV6 users (check [XXX]). The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership but no others at this time. There was no warning that the battery was about to fail, we were out at a park for the day and got in at the end when we tried to turn on the vehicle - it gave us an error "12v battery critically low" and then turned off. Kia has issued a recall for the ICCU, but not covered under this recall is the 12v battery which the ICCU causes to fail early. A bad ICCU (Integrated Current Control Unit) can decrease the lifespan of a 12V battery in several ways: Improper Charging Voltage, Inconsistent Current Flow, Battery Drain, Heat Generation, & Inaccurate State of Charge Monitoring. Kia is fixing the cause of a battery failure but not the battery itself. Thankfully we were parked when the battery failed (no longer will hold a charge) but this is a huge risk and should also be covered in this recall. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Several months ago, a bit of road debris hit the front grill and broke a piece off. Soon after that I began receiving messages of 'check vehicle electrical system', 'active air flap warning', and another that at this point I do not recall. The overall repair cost nearly $6,000. An employee at Emich Kia reported that there were two other 2022 Kia EV6 cars that came in for the same repair. The employees exact words, "This is a design flaw that they have fixed for the newer models." I am reporting this because I also believe that it is a design flaw. Why put so much plastic on the lower front grill that can be easily broken?

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Potential Consequences:
In April 2024 my Kia EV6 unexpectedly didn’t start. I jump-started the car and I brought the car to the Kia dealership where I bought the car, Arapahoe Kia, at 9701 E Arapahoe Rd, Centennial, CO 80112. I brought my car in on [XXX], and explained that my car didn’t start, seemingly for no reason. They inspected the car and later that day the dealership gave the car back to me and told me they couldn’t find any problems. I argued with them, I tried to explain that there was obviously something wrong for the car to just not start for no reason. They again told me there wasn’t a problem with the car. On [XXX], the car failed to start again. I jump started it again. The Kia app on my phone then informed me that my car might be subject to a recall, and that’s when I learned about recall SC302. This recall is due to a problem involving the 12 volt battery. I feel my car obviously experienced the same problem that the recall was meant to address, I brought my car to the dealership AFTER the recall was issued, and the dealership didn’t fix the problem, and the dealership apparently didn’t know about the recall. I feel like the dealership’s complete failure to address this recall problem put my life in danger. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Potential Consequences:
The vehicle underwent replacement of its ICCU in July-August 2023. I was without the vehicle for 4+ weeks. last week the car flashed a warning to immediately stop and check the power supply (with no instructions on how to do that. ). Was advised both by dealer and Kia not to drive, but to get it to the dealer for service. The following day the vehicle was completely dead. The vehicle (my only transportation) was towed as advised and is once again at Kia service while I’m currently without a vehicle. Was told the ICCU is the likely problem.

On April 13, 2024, when I started my vehicle, the instrument cluster immediately flashed the following warning msg surrounded by a flashing red circle: 12V Battery Very Low Stop Safely I turned the vehicle off, waited a few seconds and when I started it again the message did not appear. I contacted KIA USA and received a Recall Inquiry Case #. On April 18th, when I started my vehicle the same 12V Battery Very Low, Stop Safely msg displayed. It did not disappear upon restarting. Within 5 mts ALL the electrics were dead, including the instrument cluster AND the parking/emergency brake control AND the Vehicle Start On/Off button. I am very fortunate I was not driving on the highway when this occurred. Ditto for other drivers. My vehicle had to be towed to my dealer/service center. The tow service jumped the 12V battery and was able to drive it up on the flatbed. Today (April 23rd), my dealer/service center representive informed by the 12V battery tested okay, and the vehicle diagnostics they ran have not revealed any issues with the vehicle electrical system. They have been unable to reproduce or confirm the problem so far. My vehicle is still at my dealer/service center. What occurred is identical to the issues identified in the NHTSA Recall No: 24V-200 & KIA Recall No: SC302.

Defect Description:
POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
Defect Description:
POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
After starting the vehicle and beginning to back out of a parking space, a loud pop was heard from the rear of the vehicle. Immediately, a "Check vehicle electrical system warning" appeared on the dashboard, followed by "Stop vehicle and check power supply". While attempting to drive to a safe location, a continuous warning began to sound along with a dashboard warning to stop immediately. The speed of the vehicle was limited which could have caused an accident when driving on public roads. The vehicle was towed to the dealership where it is waiting for diagnosis. During the tow, the vehicle was unable to move under its own power. The symptoms appear to represent a failure of Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) (NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V200000). There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.
