91.3K Vehicles Affected
Recall Date: Jun 26, 2019
Safety Issue:

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2017-2019 gasoline, light duty, Titan vehicles. The alternator harness may have been damaged during the engine installation process, possibly resulting in an electrical short.

Potential Risk:
An electrical short may cause an engine stall, increasing the risk of a crash. In addition, it increases the risk of a fire.
FREE Recall Solution:
Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the alternator harness for the proper routing and any damage. The harness will be clipped into the correct position or replaced as necessary, free of charge. The recall began August 8, 2019. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669.

NHTSA Campaign: 18V240000 SAFETY RECALL
483 Vehicles Affected
Recall Date: Apr 16, 2018
Safety Issue:

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2016-2018 Nissan Titan, 2016 and 2018 Nissan Titan XD vehicles. Accessories installed on these vehicles reduced the load carrying capacity, however, a Load Carrying Capacity modification label was not installed, possibly allowing the vehicle to be overloaded. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."

Potential Risk:
An overloaded vehicle can increase the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Nissan will notify owners and provide a new modification label, with installation instructions, free of charge. The recall began on June 4, 2018. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-867-7669.
Additional Details:

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

NHTSA Campaign: 17V268000 SAFETY RECALL
44.3K Vehicles Affected
Recall Date: Apr 24, 2017
Safety Issue:

Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Nissan Titan Crew Cab and Titan XD Crew Cab vehicles. In the event of a crash, the rear seatbelt assembly may not adequately protect the occupant's head, allowing it to contact the D-ring bolt trim cap. As such, these vehicles fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 201, "Occupant Protection in Interior Impact."

Potential Risk:
If the occupant's head contacts the D-ring bolt trim cap during a crash, there is an increased risk of injury.
FREE Recall Solution:
Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will install energy absorbing material to the C-Pillar Finishers and replace the Seatbelt Bolt and Bolt Cap, free of charge. The recall began September 19, 2017. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.
Additional Details:

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

78000 miles both turbos blown. Nissan says they have some kind of warrantee up to 150000 miles and will fix one but not both. when you can't run the truck with only 1, the big one took out the small one and now it sits at dealer. The entire fuel system replaced only a hundred miles ago for over $17000.00 an now expected to pay $5200 for the small turbo. This truck was supposed to last 500.000 miles what a lemon.

ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

The engine started to make strange noise that sound like piston failure. I took the truck to Boulder Nissan in Colorado. They Diagnosed and confirmed scoring/cylinder wall damage in cylinder #7. This is apparently a known issue for the 5.6L V8 and there is a Nissan bulletin [XXX]. The Nissan bulletin recommends replacing the short block and I was quoted $21969.60, which is more the current value of the vehicle. My truck has 113k miles, all maintenance has been completed as recommend. I did file a complaint with Nissan Consumer Affairs the case #[XXX]. However, since my truck is no longer under warranty they would not pay for repairs. This issue with this process is since this failure is a known issue which would lead to complete engine failure, Why would Nissan not inspect these engines when they are at the dealer for service? I was told by the dealer they have seen this happen to vehicles with as little as 14K miles on them. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

Potential Consequences:

Vehicle began shutting down on the freeway. I hooked up an OBDII sensor and it detected a turbo code. Took my vehicle for warranty work on 12/23/23. Dealer Refuses to fix warranty issues. Trying to add on additional repairs that aren't needed. I have pictures of my own OBD2 sensor showing DTC P00AF, indicating turbo actuator or high pressure turbo charger that is specifically detailed in Quality action campaign bulletins issued [XXX]. Reference: PC919, PC920. [XXX] claims no such codes detected. But he wants me to replace fuel pump and fuel sending unit. This guy also wants me to pay $250 for a full diagnostics and add other issues that are not covered by warranty. Per Nissan warranty process, "Warranty repairs will be made at no charge for parts and/or labor, INCLUDING DIAGNOSIS AND TAX." Now they say the catalytic converter is damaged and needs to be replaced with costs in excess of $15,000. However, the vehicle was passed smog check in september. In addition they are saying to begin work, I need to pay 70% of the cost by wednesday or they begin charging storage fee of $50 a day. And still have not addressed warranty issues. ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

While driving down the highway it started to feel like the pavement was warped so we changed lanes and the shaking got violently worse. Put the truck into neutral and drifted down the shoulder hoping to get to a safe place and prevent any further damage. Who knows what kind of pileup could have happened if the engine had seized like it has done to others. There were no engine codes to warn us. Ended up being stranded around a sharp bend with vehicles and tractor trailers scarily flying by us. Truck is currently sitting at Montgomeryville Nissan in PA. They want $2200 to tear down the engine and diagnose. There are metal chunks in the oil pan so it clearly needs a new engine. I don’t trust Nissan to inspect their own equipment especially with the known failures with this engine. Diesels are supposed to be the strongest engines you can buy. This truck only has 43,000 miles on it. PLEASE HELP. The contact stated the vehicle has a broken crank and Nissan Corporate should be held responsible for the new engine. The extended warranty has not been approved as of yet.

ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

Driving down I40 between exit 57 and exit 47 when my truck started making a bad vibration and horrible noise. it was dark so I could not see if it was smoking or anything coming from the exhaust. Had the truck towed to my dad's house which was closer to mine. Once there we did an initial investigation on what was wrong. After pulling the dip stick and noticing there was metal material on the dip stick, we knew that something had failed in the motor. We then loaded the truck on a trailer and took to my house 50 miles away. I reached out to the dealer ship that I purchased the truck from, "Nelson Nissan" in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. They told me the truck was out of warranty by 1 month on the 5-year warranty but it only has around 98,000 miles. Since purchasing this truck from them I have only done simple maintenance. I have not even changed the tires at this point. I have changed the engine oil and filter, fuel filters, and serviced the truck more than recommended. I reached out to my local dealership and they would not help either without me paying in full. I am a mechanic so I started looking into the problem. I was going to buy a motor to replace, but with them costing over $20,000 and still paying on the truck i have not. I did start to take the motor out, but after seeing all the other trucks failing on forms i am hoping and praying the NHTSA helps with this horrible problem that is affecting several people that have chose to buy these crappy trucks. thank you for your help

ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

I have a 2017 titan xd that has had catastrophic turbo failures 4 times now on 162,000 miles. Roughly every 40,000 miles which is absolutely ridiculous. They have refused to acknowledge a manufacturing defect at my dealer and at the national level now telling me it will be 13,000$ to fix it again with the same faulty product that I'll have to fix again next year for another$13,000 or worse a fully failed engine and unusable truck. The turbo fails with very little warning, no lights and when the turbos fail it kills the trucks power and makes maneuvering to safety very difficult.

ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

Vehicle shut down while driving and would not restart. Had to get it towed to the dealership. I was informed that it was a fuel issue but once tearing down found the engine to be at fault and had to be replaced. I was lucky it happened in a neighborhood.

ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

The truck's engine died while traveling down the highway around 60 mph. I lost all power and struggled to pull to the side of the road avoiding traffic. there were no warning lights or engine lights before the truck died. There was only a slight vibration and loss of power. Once I stopped on the side of the road smoke started coming out from under the hood. The truck has been maintained well and taken care of and has 59,000 miles on it. I was told by a Nissan mechanic that the motor is locked up because of a broken crank, and they are still trying to see what happened with the electrical wiring that caused the fire. The truck is out of warranty and they informed me that a new motor would cost upwards of $25,000 dollars.
