Defect Description:
POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
The valve body in my transmission went out in Colorado where my truck is currently at a dealership under warranty. They are putting my job at risk due to the fact that I bought that truck specifically for work since I travel all over the country for work. I told them that I need the part expedited because I need to leave Colorado and go to Texas for work on the 28th and still no help at all. All I’m asking for is for the part or a new transmission to be sent and installed before the month ends. Because if it doesn’t I’ll get fired if I don’t make it to Texas. And I’ll state this I will pay out of my own pocket even though the truck has warranty if it means the part can get expedited.

POWER TRAIN
Potential Consequences:
Driving on interstate 85 on cruise control when I herd the motor RPM start to climb so I tapped the break and that’s when the truck shut itself off and put itself in neutral causing me to have to coast over to shoulder of the road. Message on the dash said push start button to start again. There were no check engine lights, no overheating temperature lights. No codes at all. The truck is a 2024 with 62,000 miles and all oil changes on time. Upon checking online , this has happened to other vehicle owners as well. Apparently the Chevy Silverado with the 6.2 liter engine has problems with push rods and bearings. Some have replaced multiple engines. Chevy wants me to pay for new engine.

ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
Shortly after I bought this truck, At about 3,000miles I thought it had an exhaust leak, I took it in to Chevy and they kept it for a few days. Well they get back to me and said that the lifters had failed. They put new ones in and these too failed. Then about 2 weeks later they got back to me saying they were waiting on putting a new motor in for the truck. This is the 6.2L that is known for lifter failure. After about 2 more weeks they reached back out and had said that the truck was almost done. When I got the call to come get it, I asked when I got there what do I do when this keeps happening in the future of me owning the truck. The service guy shrugged his shoulders and said “buy and extended warranty.” He then proceeded to tell me to buy a chip that will delete the DFM in the truck but will void my factory warranty. I’m very frustrated and worried for myself in the future with this truck. I’ve already spent so much buying the truck and in a few years when my warranty expires and this happens again that will be out of my pocket.

Defect Description:
ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
Engine check light came on at 10,500 miles and under 300 hours of engine time. Initially thought it was due to a wheel speed sensor failure from the salt and brine build up from winter weather. After having the code ran the engine is misfiring and has a rough idle. This is an L87 6.2L motor on a 2024 Silverado ZR2. After researching this problem it is way more frequent than the total of 39 official reports with a similar truck owned by an acquaintance having the same issue at the same mileage. Engine sound has changed, the truck shudders, and may seize up at any moment. The truck had 1 oil change at 5500 miles and was due for its second oil change at 11500 but will more than likely need an engine replacement.

ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
Subject: Engine Failure – 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 (6.2L V8 •VIN: [XXX] Issue Description: While driving on [XXX], I noticed the transmission would downshift but not upshift. Within seconds, a warning appeared: “Oil temperature high, idle engine.” I began merging onto the shoulder, but before I could get there, the engine shut off completely, and the transmission shifted into neutral. After coasting to the shoulder, the transmission shifted into park on its own. Failure to Restart & Electrical Issues: I attempted to restart the engine, but it would not turn over. The dashboard, radio, and electronics turned off for a few seconds before coming back on, but the engine remained unresponsive. Towing Difficulties & Roadside Assistance Failure: GM Roadside Assistance said no contracted towing companies had the equipment to tow my truck because it would not shift into neutral without the engine running. I had to find and pay for a tow truck myself, with no guarantee of reimbursement. Dealer Response & Repair Delays: My truck has been at the dealership for days, but they have not started repairs due to technician shortages and a backlog of work. They stated: •Manually cranking the engine is nearly impossible. •The starter is not strong enough to turn it. •Repairs could take months. Loaner Car & Additional Hardships: Per the GM warranty, I received a loaner car but must return it every 500 miles. Since I commute 160 miles per day, I must frequently exchange it, causing major inconvenience. Safety Concerns & Requested Action: This sudden engine failure on the highway was a significant safety risk. Given that NHTSA is investigating failures of the GM 6.2L V8 (L87), I believe my case is related. GM should issue a recall or extended warranty for affected vehicles. Potential Consequences:
When Driving my 2024 Chevy Silverado with 24,600 Miles on it this morning, i was on the New York State Thruway going highways speed (70MPH) when the truck Lost Power, and Shut completely off, I had a tractor trailer behind me and lucky my pick up truck was able to coast over the white line, if i would have been able to coast over the white line i would have been in a major accident. I attempted to start the truck up again and the truck would not turn over, i had sat there for about 25/30 Min trying to get the truck started and finally the truck turned over and i was able to continue on to work, While driving the truck had absolutely no power and the truck was sitting around 3K RPMs when going 66mph, the truck was hard shifting into gears as well. I arrived at work and i got to a parking space and all the sudden the truck shut off and wouldn't not start back up. Upon arriving to work i rolled down my window and heard a long banging noise coming from the engine Aswell as a whining noise. I attempted to start the truck up and you hit the start button the truck just keeps whining and never starts up. I was able to contact GM Roadside and have a tow truck come and pick the truck up and bring it back to the dealer. Im awaiting the dealer to contact me. Overall, i could have been in serious car accident for because the engine just shut off on the highway, this happened with no warning or anything, the check engine light was NOT on before this happened.

ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
On 12/24/24 my truck went into limp mode with the notification of “reduced acceleration” nearly causing an accident. Luckily I was able to get off the road to safety. The truck wouldn’t go in reverse or fully accelerate. I had the truck towed to the dealership. The dealership informed me it was the Valve Body in my transmission. They mentioned they have 4 other trucks with the exact same issue. It’s been 1 month since and nothing has been repaired and GM has not responded to my inquiries on a replacement, update on the part, or a buy back. The vehicle was brand new on a lease only 7500 miles on it and was purchased in July. The truck didn’t even last 6months. Had I not quickly gotten the truck off the road I could have been T-Boned and could’ve died at the intersection by a semi coming through. The fact this vehicle was sold, while this was an issue is criminal negligence.

Potential Consequences:
My 2024 ZR2 has roughly 22,000 miles on it. Was driving and lost power. Dealership actually sent someone to come look at my stalled truck. Would not turn over. Dealership got it towed. After diagnosis, they said the engine had seized. This is absolutely uncalled for on a brand new vehicle that I paid over $70,000 for. This exact same thing happened on my Co Workers 2020 high country 6.2. It is currently being worked on, and now seeing that over 877,000 of these 6.2 engines have done this exact same thing since 2019??? How is this engine still being put in these GM vehicles? Now they are going to put new or rebuild the one I have that the exact same thing can happen to the new one? No new warranty will be given as I just get the remaining warranty? I'm sorry but this is the most expensive vehicle I have ever purchased and was proud of it. Now I have a ticking time bomb? I work out of state and if this happened while out of state, what do I do?? I would like action taken! I am getting an attorney involved as this should be taken care of after 877,000 vehicles. What other action can be taken? Thank You, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

ENGINE
Potential Consequences:
The vehicle burns oil and has from the very first oil change. The dealer is stating the oil needs to be changed more often (5k as opposed to 7500 per the manual) to mitigate the fact the vehicle is burning oil. Currently I am hearing lifter tick at cold start and believe the vehicle is on its way to experiencing engine failure of which your organization is already looking into. I am reporting this to help with your investigation. Please feel free to call with any questions. Thank you.
