Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018-2022 Transit Connect, 2019-2020 MKZ, Edge, Continental, F-150, Nautilus, Fusion, 2019-2023 Ranger, Mustang, 2020-2021 EcoSport, Expedition, Navigator, 2020-2022 Escape, F-250 SD, Corsair, 2020-2023 Aviator, Transit, 2020-2024 Explorer, 2021-2024 Bronco Sport, and 2022-2024 Maverick vehicles. A software error may cause the rearview camera to display a blank image, or the image may remain on the display after the backing event has ended.

A rearview camera that displays a blank image can reduce the driver's view behind the vehicle. A rearview image that continues to be displayed after the vehicle is shifted out of reverse may distract the driver. Both of these situations can increase the risk of a crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Dealers will update the rearview camera software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 28, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S72.

Recall Date: Oct 15, 2021
Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2019-2021 Ford Ranger Super Cab vehicles. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 208, "Occupant Crash Protection" and 209, "Seat Belt Assemblies."

Potential Risk:

Ford will provide owners with instructions to perform a preliminary inspection of their front seat belts. Owners that detect an issue with the driver's seat belt, are unsure of the results, or do not want to perform an inspection, should not drive their vehicles and contact a Ford dealership. Recall Date: May 13, 2019
Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2019 Ranger vehicles. The fasteners that attach the transmission shifter cable bracket to the transmission may loosen allowing the transmission to be in a different gear than indicated by the gear shift lever position.

Potential Risk:
If the gear shift lever position does not match the actual transmission gear, the vehicle may move in an unexpected direction. Additionally, despite selecting 'Park', if the parking brake is not applied before the vehicle is exited, the vehicle may roll. Either scenario increases the risk of crash or injury.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and tighten the transmission shift cable bracket fasteners as necessary, and verify the proper transmission shift operation, free of charge. Recall Date: Feb 1, 2019
Safety Issue:

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2019 Ranger vehicles equipped with 10-speed automatic transmissions. In some of these vehicles, the transmission shift lever can be moved from the "Park" position without the key in the starting system and without depressing the brake pedal. As a result, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 114, "Theft Protection."

Potential Risk:
If the vehicle can be shifted out of Park without the brake applied, the vehicle may unexpectedly move. Unintentional vehicle movement can increase the risk of injury or crash.
FREE Recall Solution:
Ford has notified owners, and dealers will inspect and repair the transmission floor shift selector interlock assembly, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began February 22, 2019. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19C02.

POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

My 2019 Ford Ranger for around 9 months occasionally has a significant loss of power and acceleration from 2nd to 3rd gear. It has become dangerous to drive due to the aforementioned. My vehicle has 54019 and is under the factory power train warranty still. The dealership told me that water had entered the EGR and damaged the sensor. They already knew by their diagnostics test it wasn’t a negligence based issue. The dealership told me at least 5 other Ford Rangers have come in with the same problem and Ford will not recall it even tho they know it’s an issue. I called Ford customer satisfaction. They stated although they say powertrain and related parts in their factory warranty and this is affecting the transmission they could not get authorization to fix the known issue. Please investigate this before people get killed.

Potential Consequences:

I was driving over a bridge at 65 mph on a foggy morning a couple weeks ago and my windshield fogged over. I turned on the defroster and it only blew cold air. I could not see and I couldn't clear it. I had to slow down and find a safe spot to pull over. I had to try to wipe down the windshield and then start driving. It did it again and i had to pull over again and wipe and wait for it to clear to be able to drive. It was foggy the next morning and I had to do the same thing all over again. I stopped by a ford dealer and spoke to someone. He told me, oh yeah we know all about it and so does ford. The ac heater chamber in the dash breaks. Costs about 2 grand to fix. All the new rangers do it. This is a safety defect and needs to be recalled by ford. Thank you.

POWER TRAIN

Potential Consequences:

My Vehicle transmission skips second gear going from gear 1 to gear 3 when accelerating from a stopped position. Issue cause jerking and a clunk when gear catches. When this happens, vehicle will temporarily stall until gear catches putting driver and passengers at risk of collision if turning at intersection, proceeding through 2-way stop intersection, or on hills/ on train tracks. My vehicle has never displayed warning lights on the dash. I had the vehicle inspected at a Ford Dealer. Dealership was able to replicate the issue. Dealership related they flashed the TCM, but it did not resolve the issue and recommended replacement of transmission or rebuild. Vehicle is at 62,000 miles and is barely out of warranty. Researching the issue will lead to the Ford Ranger Forum, where multiple other people are experiencing transmission issues with this vehicle.

Corrective Action:

My Vehicle transmission skips second gear going from gear 1 to gear 3 when accelerating from a stopped position. Issue cause jerking and a clunk when gear catches. When this happens, vehicle will temporarily stall until gear catches putting driver and passengers at risk of collision if turning at intersection, proceeding through 2-way stop intersection, or on hills/ on train tracks.
