ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

I went to take my car in for an oil change and every time i go in, my car is 3 quarts low on oil. I was told to take my car to the dealership in Hilton Head because the Savannah office couldn't get me in for an appointment for months. Hilton Head service center had me take my car there every 1,000 miles for an low oil consumption test. I was told not to put oil in the car even if the oil light came on which it did like maybe 200 miles before i was due to go back because it would throw off the test at the time. After doing this for 3 to 4 months of back and forth over there, then i was told that i needed to get my engine flushed, and it wasn't covered, so i had to get it financed. After flushing the engine, it did not solve the problem. Then i had to bring in all my receipts from my oil changes to make sure they were done on time. This all had been escalated to the Hyundai corporate office and they then denied replacing my engine because it was out of warranty. I think this is totally unfair that i have to continue putting oil in my car every 7 days as a result of them not replacing my engine. If for some reason i forget to put oil in my engine this could cause a fire or blow up while iam driving.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

Potential Consequences:

I have need to get 3 oil changes within the past month and a half. Twice I was told I was driving with no oil in my car and the engine was getting ready to go. I notice when I start my car in the morning it is making a rattling noise, this also happens when I try to accelerate and the car will get stuck in gear and hesitate before speeding up. It's been dangerous trying to drive on this highway. I also notice a thick white smoke coming from my muffler. I'm constantly paying for unnecessary oil changes and diagnostic from independent service centers and was told my motor is bad and causing all this oil consumption. I was told to contact Hyundai but no luck.

Defect Description:

STRUCTURE:BODY

Potential Consequences:

Pearl White 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport purchased from dealer in 2020- paint began peeling, bubbling, and chipping from hood badly in 2022 and has increased, now starting to spread to side panels. Issue confirmed by multiple2017-2018 Elantra and Santa Fe owners in multiple places, multiple NHTSA complaints filed, class action lawsuit has been filed for the same issue with same make/model and vin beginning (5NM). A White Paint Warranty Extension Launch has been issued by Hyundai Assurance Car Care in December 2022, though consumers have complained that the dealers are making it exceedingly difficult to cover this known and widespread manufacturer issue; many dealers refuse to issue any coverage, or even reimbursement, many others offer only partial coverage. Most consumers are having to pay for the service in full, apply for reimbursement through Hyundai, and fight for extremely delayed full reimbursement. NO RECALLS ISSUED FOR THIS KNOWN AND CONFIRMED ISSUE.

ENGINE

Potential Consequences:

My car is burning to much oil which has caused my car to have a check engine light. I was not due for an oil change until end of July 2023 and the car was barely with no oil. I took it in to get an oil change at Valvoline and they confirmed no oil was hardly in the chamber and that my car needed an oil consumption test by dealer. Hyundai models have been having multiple issues with engine failure. This is a safety Hazard as on the road is when I noticed my car shutting off on me. I am working on getting this taken care of with corporate Hyundai and dealer.
